The odds are in for two key matches in the Premier League and the Spanish La Liga. Manchester City will look to get the egg off their face after a 2-0 defeat against bitter rivals Manchester United, while over in Spain Atlético de Madrid are coming off of a tie against Real Madrid.

For City it was the end of their 21-game unbeaten run, while this does little to alter things at the top of the standings, City has an eleven-point advantage over United, the win can solidify ManU’s chances of finishing second. For Atlético Madrid, things are a bit different as the gap in first place is closing and with their 1-1 tie against Real Madrid, they are only three points above Barcelona in the standings.

While the odds makers at FanDuel have both Manchester City and Atlético Madrid as the odds-on favorites for Wednesday’s clashes, these matches will not be easy as both teams will have that added pressure to get back on track and make that final push for their respective league titles.

Manchester City vs Southampton

It’s a tale of two teams at opposite roads, as City win each match, they draw closer to the title, while Southampton on the other hand is looking to avoid dropping down to the relegation spots. At -500 City is not paying out a lot, and betting against them would be crazy. City have won seven of their last eight matches against the +1400 underdog. To Southampton's credit they have beaten the league leaders twice this season, a win against Everton and a win against Liverpool when both were top of the table.

If you had to wager on this game the more interesting bets come in the over/under, City will want to make a point after a big loss to United so look for the game to be over 2.5 goals, at -250, it’s not much but it’s a safe bet. Predicting who will score the game's first goal, Raheem Sterling is a safe choice at +370.

Atlético de Madrid vs Atlético Bilbao

Over in Spain for Atlético de Madrid it’s a bit more of a challenge, they need this win badly to get some distance on Barcelona and Real Madrid. Bilbao may be mid table, but they have not lost in their last 5, winning 2 and drawing three. They also have one of the league’s better defenses so this is a game that could trouble Diego Simeone’s side. Atlético Madrid are favored at -125 while Bilbao, who could surprise Atlético are paying out a tempting +440. A draw at +220 could be a surprising safe bet given both team’s current track record.

Bilbao have not won a game against Atlético Madrid away since 2011, so that draw is starting to look a lot better. Look for a tight game so under 2.5 goals could be interesting at -178, and a correct score line bet is paying out quite well, a 1-1 draw is at +550.

Parlays

A Madrid and Bilbao draw and a City win could pay out $284 if you wager $100. The key to these two games will be at least one upset from the two games. In this case Madrid look the most likely candidate given their last 5 games and Bilbao looks like more of a tougher opponent than Southampton will be to Manchester City.
