The NBA 2020/2021 season is at its midpoint and as teams make that final push to secure playoff berths at the end of the season, the yearly talk of who is the NBA MVP has already begun. The oddsmakers have also rated who they believe has the most chance to win the yearly award.

According to FanDuel, the odds-on favorite to win the award is none other than LeBron James, followed by Joel Embiid, Nikola Jokic, Luka Doncic, and Stephen Curry. An interesting top 5 indeed given that the current NBA points per game leader Bradley Beal is a distant +25000 underdog. Beal’s Washington team sit twelfth and while stats play a big role in determining who wins the award, politics as well, play a role.

The NBA Regular Season MVP is usually decided by the player who produces the most on a championship caliber/ playoff team. Here are the top 5 big names that are in the running for the NBA MVP Regular Season award according to the oddsmakers!

1. LeBron James

King James sits number one as usual with a +170 payout, LeBron, at the moment, is not in the top 5 in any of the main categories this season, and averaging only 25 points per game, a standard number for him. LeBron last won the award in 2013 and does not look like the wisest pick for this year's award. Why he is the favorite is beyond us.

2. Joel Embiid

Joel Embiid could be a good dark horse to wager on, at +350, and with the 76ers sitting in first in the East, he looks like a very good bet. Embiid is at 30 points per game with 11 rebounds per game. A solid season that has seen the Sixers ride high in the East.

3. Nikola Jokic

Nikola Jokic is down the pecking order, but he has been clutch for a Denver Nuggets side that has been regularly inconsistent. At +600 Jokic is a risky bet given the fact that rarely does a player win the MVP award playing for such a mediocre side.

4. Luka Doncic

Luka Doncic is at +1100 to win the NBA MVP award and like Jokic is having a good season for a very mediocre team. The Mavericks are .500 and while Doncic is leading the charge at 28 points per game his chances of winning the NBA MVP title are slim when compared to James or Curry.

5. Stephen Curry

Stephen Curry is back, and at +1200 could be another dark horse to win the Regular Season MVP. Curry has rebounded from an injury plagued 2020 with 29 points per game, Curry is also the league's leading three-point shooter. While the Warriors have had a up and down year, if the team can make a big push near the end of the season and make the playoffs, Curry could be an MVP in the making.

There is still time left for each of these players to make their case for the NBA Regular Season MVP award. Stay in the know about everything related to the world of sports betting and the NBA right here at Bolavip.
