MLB's National League features some strong candidates to win it all this season. Perhaps the competition won't be as tight as in the American League but with a 60-game shortened season, anything can happen.
Some of the best players in the world will try and dominate Major League Baseball's Senior Circuit from start to finish and the 4-month hiatus to rest came pretty handily. There's no more room for excuses, the time has come to prove their worth.
Naturally, given the nature of this competition and how stacked the MLB is with talented players, oddsmakers have given just a handful of players the biggest odds to win the MVP award in the 2020 season. We'll break it down for you:
2020 NL MVP Candidates: Favorites and Underdogs
Now that Mookie Betts took his talents to the other circuit, he's the biggest candidate to win the NL MVP award for the first time on his career. The Dodgers' superstar is bound to become a free agent so he'll need to demonstrate why he's worthy of a big buck. That's why FanDuel gives him +600 odds to win the award, while DraftKings gives him +550 odds.
Notably, Betts is followed closely by his teammate Cody Bellinger, the National League's reigning MVP. The Dodgers are loaded with talent and FanDuel gives Bellinger +800 odds to win the award, while DraftKing gives him +700 odds.
An unlikely candidate for oddsmakers is Puerto Rican infielder Javier Báez. The Cubs infielder has +2500 odds to win the award in FanDuel's platform, while DraftKings give him slightly better odds at +1800.
Surprisingly, oddsmakers aren't showing Joey Votto any love. Despite his talent and trajectory, the Canadian first baseman only has +12500 odds on DraftKing's platform, while FanDuel gives him +10000.
2020 NL MVP Odds:
|Ronald Acuña Jr||+900||+700|
|Fernando Tatís Jr||+2000||+2000|
