Michel de Nostredame, most commonly known as Nostradamus, is one person that left a mark in history, whether people believe in his disturbing predictions or not. More than 400 years later, his legendary book Les Prophéties keeps on being a topic of discussion with all the events that take place nowadays.

There are unbelievable passages from his book which involve those predictions from the astrologer and physician. Believing if he predicted future events or not is something that it's up to a personal opinion. However, the ones who do insist that his prophecies are true, now are warning that he also insinuated that a zombie apocalypse will occur.

It seems that he suggested that in the following passage: "Few young people: half-dead to give a start. Dead through spite, he will cause the others to shine, And in an exalted place some great evils to occur: Sad concepts will come to harm each one, Temporal dignified, the Mass to succeed."

Still, it isn't known for sure if he wrote that, and the passage doesn't state that it's alluding to zombies either. However, there already exists a backup plan in case the mythological undead revenants suddenly took over human society

CDC's campaign of Zombie Preparedness

If you thought that because these creatures are characters that we've seen in film and television they wouldn't induce people to take real contention plans, you were wrong. The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention have recommended different ways of acting in case there's a zombie apocalypse.

The CDC stated that this has to do with their intentions to prepare audiences against any hazard, and a hypothetical zombie invasion became a recurrent topic in the last years following all the series, movies, and novels that feature them.

On CDC's website, there can be found the Zombie Preparedness guide, which includes several products that point to the consciousness of the safe ways to act against a zombie attack or another chaotic situation. One of these categories is the Zombie Preparedness Blog, in which they briefly explain the history and origins of the zombie characters, and it even can be found a list of things that people should have in case such an emergency like this or any other (a hurricane or pandemic, for example) takes place. The items that they mention are:

. Water (1 gallon per person per day)
. Food (non-perishable and that the person eats regularly)
. Medications (prescription and non-prescription meds)
. Tools and Supplies (utility knife, battery-powered radio, etc.)
. Sanitation and Hygiene (household bleach, soap, towels, etc.)
. Clothing and Bedding (a change of clothes for each family member and blankets)
. Important documents (copies of your driver’s license, passport, and birth certificate to name a few)
. First Aid supplies (although you’re a goner if a zombie bites you, you can use these supplies to treat basic cuts and lacerations that you might get during a tornado or hurricane)

Apart from that, they also have a guide for Educators to teach students about these ways of preparing against such a dangerous situation, and they also emphasized this Preparedness by creating posters to raise awareness and highlight the importance of being ready. Moreover, there's another category of graphic novels to show how necessary is to know how to act in a dramatic scene like a zombie apocalypse.

Nostradamus predictions may not be believed by millions of people, but it can't be denied that they endured through the ages regardless of most thought they were true or not. Now they link the mythological zombies with him, although he never assured that. Whether he pointed out that a zombie apocalypse would occur or not, there exist emergency plans and measures to be prepared if the situation takes place.
