According to perfecttennis.com, for every team win in the group stage, each one receives $10,000, while for a semi-final win, they receive $30,000 each one. If the team wins the final, each member receives $50,000. For every individual win, it depends on the player.

Seven of the top 10 men’s players are set to compete at the event. However, Spaniard Rafael Nadal won’t be part of his home country team, while 2020 champion Novak Djokovic, also decided to withdraw from the event amid the controversy surrounding his vaccination status.

The ATP Cup 2022 format consists in a group stage, where 16 teams are split into four groups, with each group playing a round robin format. Each tie consists of two singles matches and a doubles. The four winners of the group advance to the semi-finals.

For the first time since the ATP World Team Cup in Düsseldorf, 1978 to 2012, this event is a return from the ATP team contest to the calendar. The first tournament was held in Sydney, Brisbane, and Perth fromJanuary 3 to January 12, 2020. From its founding anduntil ATP Cup 2022, Sydney will host the tournament.

The Cup’s teams are determined by their best player’s individual ranking. Eight teams are announced on the week of the American Open on the basis of the highest single player ranking. To qualify, a country is required to have at least three players with ATP ranking.
