Back in August of 2019, the Mexican pugilist was stripped of his IBF middleweight championship. The reason? He was unable to agree to a fight to defend his belt and the organization made the decision to vacate the title.

He was given some free passes to keep looking for a fight but when the deadline passed, the fighter lost his belt. IBF President Daryl Peoples explained the decision with a letter, via Dan Rafael of ESPN:

“It is crystal clear from the correspondence that on July 26, 2019, [Golden Boy matchmaker] Robert Diaz, on behalf of Golden Boy Promotions, agreed that Saul ‘Canelo’ Alvarez would relinquish the IBF middleweight championship title, with no further negotiations or purse bid, if there was no completed deal between him and Derevyanchenko by the agreed upon extended deadline of Monday July 29, 2019 at 3 p.m. ET. As of today, August 1, 2019, the IBF has been advised that there is no such deal.”

Canelo has moved on from that category and is ready to defend his super middleweight title against the Turkish opponent this weekend, trying to continue his good moment at the highest level of boxing. He’s not letting any organization or fighter taking his belt now and he’ll try to keep things that way when he faces Yildirim.

Moreover, the 29-year-old wants the league to do more to remember the Los Angeles Lakers icon, giving him the maximum honor any player could receive from the association. KB24 meant a lot to Ky and all the players of his generation and his new proposal celebrates that.

The 2016 NBA champion took to Instagram to ask the league to replace Jerry West, another Lakers legend, with Kobe Bryant as the logo of the NBA. This was something proposed last year but the commissioner made it clear that they aren’t planning to do any changes to the logo right now.

Last year, NBA commissioner Adam Silver revealed that even though Kobe was great for everybody who saw him play and met him, the league isn’t planning to make him the new logo of the competition. He said there have been so many great players in the league who could also be good to become the new logo and that would be unfair for them.

They did name the All-Star MVP trophy after Kobe, who won that honor a record four times. The Black Mamba won’t ever be forgotten and perhaps in a couple of years, Kyrie and NBA fans will see their wish granted.

It’s been reported that Bronny picked the injury three weeks ago and he underwent surgery to repair the injury. This is a very serious injury but he’s expected to make a full recovery, fortunately.

This was his sophomore season with Sierra Canyon High School but this injury has ended his season prematurely. It’s unclear how much time Bronny will be sidelined with this injury, especially knowing that the state of prep basketball in California is unknown for the rest of the teams.

How long will Bronny James be out of action?

As stated above, the state of California is yet to announce if they will permit indoor high school competitions like basketball. That would tell how many games the teenager will miss but if they give the ‘go-ahead’, Bronny would miss this spring.

Tarek Fattal of the Los Angeles Daily News, the injury is believed to be a season-ending one but again, that will depend on how things are handled by the state of California and the organizations in charge of high school competitions.

Bronny is expected to make it to the NBA in a couple of years from now and this injury won’t affect his status as one of the highest-touted high school players in America right now. He’s considered a five-star-rated recruit for the class of 2023, according to 247Sports.com.

According to The Athletic, Russ’ camp has reportedly identified the best four destinations for the player, naming very interesting squads that would welcome the player with open arms in case the Hawks decide to part ways with him. Which are those teams? The Miami Dolphins, New York Jets, New Orleans Saints, and Las Vegas Raiders.

That Monday (after the Super Bowl), CBS’ Jason La Canfora tweeted that “Russell Wilson’s camp” was frustrated with his pass protection and called it “a situation worth monitoring.” The next day, Wilson went on “The Dan Patrick Show” and said he wanted to be more involved with the organization. He was asked about the almost 400 times he has been sacked over his nine-year career: “That’s a big thing that we gotta fix, that’s gotta be fixed.” He brought up Brady, a player whose status he craves, and the play of Tampa Bay’s offensive line in the Super Bowl: “He wasn’t touched really.” Several times he mentioned his “legacy,” as well as his goal to play 10 to 15 more years, just like Brady.

On a Zoom call with Seattle reporters that same day, Wilson was asked if he was frustrated with the Seahawks. “I’m frustrated with getting hit too much,” he said. Ex-Seahawk Brandon Marshall said Wilson was “beyond frustrated” with the team and added that Wilson “is trying to figure out how to move on in a classy way.” Patrick echoed the QB’s desire for urgency and, citing a source, said the “current situation is unsustainable.” By then, La Canfora had even listed possible trade destinations for Wilson: the Raiders, Dolphins, Saints, and Jets among them.

This is one of the hottest situations in the NFL right now. He hasn’t requested a trade like Deshaun Watson but Wilson could be doing it soon if he doesn’t see any sign of improvement within the organization.

The Hawks have made it clear that they don’t plan to deal the player to any other team in the league but that hasn’t prevented the rest of the franchises to try to get the talented signal-caller via trade.

Several teams have been linked with the 32-year-old in the past couple of weeks but nothing is clear for them now. Yet, more teams keep adding their names to the list of suitors for Wilson and there is one that could make a run for this player when nobody expects them to do so.

Denver Broncos could make a run for Russell Wilson this offseason

Jon Heat of Broncos Wire recently addressed Wilson’s situation and how the Hawks are handling things right now. The team isn’t entertaining the idea of trading their franchise player away but teams are ready to snatch him if they have the chance, including the Denver Broncos.

Recently, Mike Silver revealed the Seahawks’ asking price for the player, which consists of three first-round picks to start. The NFL Network reporter said that at least a third of the league contacted the 2014 Super Bowl champions.

“The Seahawks are staying quiet, but internally they got the message. They’re not thrilled that their quarterback felt that way and teams have been calling,” Silver said during an appearance on NFL Network on Monday. “Probably a third of the league have reached out to inquire about Russell Wilson.”

Heath made the case for the Broncos, explaining that the AFC team is ready to pursue a big name in the offseason and Wilson fits the profile of player they’re planning to get in the upcoming months.

The Denver Broncos are expected to pursue big-name quarterbacks this offseason, and Wilson certainly fits that category. The 32-year-old QB defeated Denver in Super Bowl XLVIII and he has reached the Pro Bowl eight times in his career. Wilson threw 40 touchdown passes last season. If the Seahawks decide to trade Wilson, the Broncos might be a team to watch.

This is a long run and right now everybody is interested in everybody. Russ is already drawing a lot of attention and if the Broncos decide to go for him, they could get a very good player to lead their offense.

“And so he came back now what is going through his mind once he steps away? There are so many players that plan to retire, wanna retire, and then to actually get them to it’s not a simple thing.

“And so, I’m not telling you he is still, I still think he will retire. But I don’t think these things are just black and white,” Schefter told Rich Eisen.

Brees has been flirting with retirement for the past two or three years and right now he remains active. We’ll never know how things would have worked for Brady in NOLA but we’re pretty sure he’s happy with how things worked out for him.
