With the NBA season just around the corner, check out these sleepers at the point guard spot to take an early lead in your league.
Well, we’ve officially made it. The National Basketball Association is finally back, which means it’s time to put together our rosters for the NBA Fantasy season. Who’s going first overall? Is it Giannis? Is it Steph?

Regardless of who you choose first, you may know by now that fantasy leagues aren’t won in the first three rounds; they’re won in the trenches. That’s why the final picks and the waiver wire pickups are so crucial.

The PG position is one of the trickiest. Some target players with low upside but high assists totals; some don’t know who to pick after the obvious are out of the board. With that in mind, let’s take a look at our top 3 PG sleepers.

NBA Fantasy: Sleeper Point Guards To Win Your League

3. Jose Alvarado

    Jose Alvarado – Getty Images

Jose Alvarado broke out into the league last season, instantly becoming a fan favorite for his hustle and energy. Now, he’s reportedly worked out with Tony Parker to expand his offensive game and work into his floater.

Alvardo is the best defensive-minded backcourt player for the New Orleans Pelicans, so he’ll get plenty of minutes even if he’s coming off the bench. Also, he could be among the league’s leaders in steals with his quick hands and ball-hawking skills.

2. Ayo Dosunmu

    Ayo Dosunmu – Getty Images

Billy Donovan confirmed that Ayo Dosunmu will start at point guard for the Chicago Bulls while Lonzo Ball is out with a knee injury. Little did he say that there’s a big chance that Ball is out for the whole season.

That puts Dosunmu in a prime position to break out. He’s a streaky three-level scorer that should get plenty of wide-open shots with DeMar DeRozan and Zach LaVine by his side, not to mention at least 5-6 dimes per game with that supporting cast.

1. Bones Hyland

    Bones Hyland – Getty Images

The Denver Nuggets have Jamal Murray as their starting point guard, although we all know it’ll be Nikola Jokic the one to orchestrate and pull the strings of the offense. Even so, Bones Hyland needs to be rostered everywhere.

Hyland beat Facundo Campazzo and Monte Morris for the backup PG spot in Denver, so they have big plans for him. Moreover, he might as well take over Kentavious Caldwell-Pope to allow Murray to slide to his natural SG spot.

TheseNBA budding stars are ready to take the league by stormand will prove that before the start of the season.
The NBA preseason gives young players the ultimate chance to prove their worth. They can show their skill sets and demonstrate that they can contribute out of the gate, especially with the starters sitting out and getting ready for the start of the season.

We’ve seen players make a big push for more minutes after dominating in the preseason. They can crack the rotation or get more playing time, and some even wind up becoming starters, at least during the first stretch of the campaign.

With that in mind, we encourage you to tune in and watch some of these young men play in the preseason, as they might as well earn a spot in the starting five. But who are they? Let’s find out.

NBA News: Young Players To Watch In The Preseason

3. TyTy Washington

    TyTy Washington – Getty Images

TyTy Washington couldn’t play all that much during college due to injury, but he was considered the best point guard prospect in his class for a reason. He’s fast, athletic, a pass-first kind of player, and a guy who can really push up the pace.

Kevin Porter Jr. is an explosive, streaky scorer, but neither he nor Jalen Green are true playmakers. So, Washington could take over the starting PG spot for the Houston Rocketsand give them a three-headed monster in the backcourt.

2. Bones Hyland

    Bones Hyland – Getty Images

Jamal Murray is finally back for the Denver Nuggets, and there’s just no way he loses his starting spot. However, Bones Hyland could take over Kentavious Caldwell-Pope, even if it’s not right away.

Hyland showed great promise in his first season in the league. His playing time went up as the season progressed, and the Nuggets got rid of Monte Morrisand Facundo Campazzo, meaning they really trust him as a big part of their future.

1. James Wiseman

    James Wiseman – Getty Images

James Wiseman missed his entire sophomore year due to an injury he suffered in his rookie campaign. Kevon Looney established himself as the starting center, anchoring the paint for the reigning NBA champions.

But the Golden State Warriors have always loved Wiseman’s skill set. He’s athletic, strong, and could turn out to be a dominant two-way big man given enough time. He’s looked great since making his return, so don’t be shocked if he takes over as their starting big man.

Not many players are able to make an impact right out of the gate. That's why we expect these young five players to take a step forward in their sophomore season in the NBA.
It’s tough being a rookie in the NBA. You need to bulk up and get stronger, both physically and mentally. Also, you have to make the most of every chance you get to prove your worth, adapt to a new team, a new style, and sometimes even a new role.

That’s why just a handful of first-year players make the rounds in their debut season. Others need a while longer to develop or be in a more favorable position, but that doesn’t mean they don’t have superstar potential as well.

Last season, some rookies showed glimpses of great potential, but either hit a wall, didn’t get enough minutes, or their team was stacked at their position. With that in mind, let’s take a look at the top 5 second-year players likely to break out next season.

NBA 2022-23: 5 Second-Year Players Ready To Break Out

5. Bones Hyland

    Bones Hyland – Getty Images

Nah’Shon ‘Bones’ Hyland slowly worked his way into the Denver Nuggets’ rotation last season. He brought an instant spark of energy off the bench, showed a streaky scoring ability, and often made the right read as a playmaker.

His game was promising enough for the Nuggets to let both Facundo Campazzo and Monte Morris go in the offseason. He’s now expected to log heavy minutes as the de factoPG, even when Jamal Murray is back on the court. He could put up 15+ points and 7+ assists a night.

4. Moses Moody

    Moses Moody- Getty Images

Moses Moody didn’t get much run as a rookie. But his ability to play at both guard spots and even some small forward will come in quite handily for Steve Kerr as he looks to adapt his new lineups with Otto Porter Jr., Gary Payton II, and Nemanja Bjelica all gone.

Moody’s never-ending drive will keep their rivals on their toes. He’s athletic, fast, and shot 43% from the floor on limited minutes as a rookie. He can score from all three levels, create for others, and bulked up throughout the season, so expect him to be even more aggressive.

3. Joshua Primo

    Joshua Primo- Getty Images

The San Antonio Spurs will likely trade Doug McDermott and roll with Devin Vassell at the two, leaving Joshua Primo as thestarting small forward for next season. He’s one of the best shooters in his class and will most definitely make the most of those extra touches.

Primo showed elite defensive prowess during his time in college, and his length and lateral quickness help him cover a lot of ground. He should be one of the focal points of Gregg Popovich’s offense on a not-so-good Spurs team next season.

2. Jonathan Kuminga

    Jonathan Kuminga- Getty Images

Jonathan Kuminga has superstar potential. His NBA-ready body helped him get multiple stops on defense and drive to the lane with ease. He can score from all three levelsand is a much better ball handler than people give him credit for.

Kuminga is the Golden State Warriors’ only hope to be as good as they were last season. They lost three of their best defenders in the offseason and will need him to log heavy minutes at both forward spots to make up for that.

1. Alperen Sengun

    Alperen Sengun- Getty Images

Alperen Sengun showed his smooth touch around the rim in the second half of last season. And now that Christian Wood was traded to the Dallas Mavericks, he’ll have virtually no competition for minutes at both the four and the five next season.

Sengun has elite handles and playmaking skills for a big man and even some range. He’s a walking double-double and great in help defense as a shot-blocker, albeit he often gets beat in the pick-and-roll. He could average 20-10 for the young Houston Rockets.
