The Chicago Bears have added an experienced backup for Caleb Williams, a player who previously played alongside Josh Allen in the Buffalo Bills.
Caleb Williams will be responsible on the field for leading his Chicago Bears into contention in the NFC North. It won’t be easy, of course. And that’s why, in recent hours, they’ve added an experienced NFL veteran, who was a teammate of Josh Allen in the Buffalo Bills among others, to be his new backup on the roster.

<div class="wp_fsn_relatedlinks" use="SEO" link="https://bolavip.com/en/nfl/ben-johnson-net-worth" image="https://ds-images.bolavip.com/news/image?src=https%3A%2F%2Fimages.bolavip.com%2Fwebp%2Fen%2Ffull%2FBUS_20250214_BUS_336362_Ben-Johnson-1.webp&width=200&height=200" excerpt="Ben Johnson, head coach of the Chicago Bears, has built an impressive career.
Case Keenum, one of the most experienced players at his position, reached an agreement with the franchise and joins Ben Johnson’s team after his last stint with the Houston Texans, where he served as a mentor to CJ Stroud.

The news was revealed hours ago by NFL insider Adam Schefter through his official X (formerly Twitter) account, where he provided more details regarding the veteran QB’s arrival to the Bears.

“Veteran QB Case Keenum is signing a one-year deal worth up to $3 million with the Chicago Bears, per source. Keenum now will help mentor Caleb Williams in Chicago like he did for CJ Stroud in Houston,” the insider reported via @AdamSchefter.

Keenum’s arrival in Chicago aims primarily to provide an experienced NFL backup if needed, while also offering his mentorship to a young Williams, who still has much to prove.

Keenum’s extensive NFL career

With the main goal of surrounding Caleb Williams with the best support possible for the upcoming season, the Chicago Bears have secured the services of one of the most experienced quarterbacks currently in the league.

Case Keenum entered the NFL in 2012 as an undrafted free agent, signing a deal with the Houston Texans, a team he would return to on two more occasions. Additionally, he had stints with the St. Louis Rams, which later became the Los Angeles Rams, the Minnesota Vikings, Denver Broncos, Washington Redskins, and Cleveland Browns.

In 2022, the quarterback reached an agreement with the Buffalo Bills and joined their ranks in Orchard Park, where he shared the roster with the current league MVP, Josh Allen. His stay lasted a single season before he returned once again to the Texans.

Johnson is betting on Williams’ talent

Ben Johnson knows that with Caleb Williams, he has his primary weapon to take down any opponent next season. In a recent conversation with the media, published through profootballnetwork.com, the former Lions OC made it clear why he’s betting on the former USC standout.

“He’s [Williams] been predominantly a shotgun quarterback for most of his high school and college career, and so he’s very comfortable there. Pundits have attributed this popularity to the connection the college teams have to their fans. Many of which are alumni or ex-alumni who follow them religiously.

Last year alone NCAA College Football averaged 1.8 million viewers per game on ABC, CBS, ESPN, FOX, NBC, among other networks. Live games reached more than 145 million fans in the United States. Tech gave Cumberland a beat down of biblical proportions. (Wikipedia)

Cumberland will forever be in the record books and for all the wrong reasons. Georgia Tech beat them 222-0 in 1916, only two other teams ever scored 200 points on an opponent. Cumberland had discontinued their football program and allowed fraternity brothers to play the game, that decision cost them as Georgia Tech didn’t just blow away with them, they blew them away and then blew away what was left.

The box score for the game stands as follows, 63-0 in the first quarter, 63-0 the second, 54-0 in the third, and 42-0 the fourth. Cumberland committed 15 turnovers—nine fumbles and six interceptions—during the game.

The best defense of all time

In 1939 the Tennessee Volunteers won 10 gamesand went 6-0 in SEC play, but their defense was nearly impossible to break. No one was able to score a single point on them the whole season. 19 straight shutout wins in total if you count part of the 1938 season.

They were the last team to hold all their opponents to zero in regular season play, while they did lose 14-0 in the Rose Bowl, one thing is for sure, it will be nearly impossible for teams to ever break a 19 game shutout streak.

Most rushing yards in a career

    Ron Dayne (Getty)

That honor goes to Wisconsin’s Ron Dayne, he ran for 7,125 career rushing yards in his four-year college career. He topped 2,000 yards in a season twice and finished with 1,220 carries. Dayne went on to play seven seasons in the NFL for the Giants, Broncos, and Texans.

His NFL career was hardly what his college career was, he only had 3,722 rushing yards, scoring 28 touchdowns. Dayne was inducted into the University of Wisconsin-Madison’s Athletic Hall Of Fame in 2009.

Most Sacks in a single season

The most sacks in an NCAA Football season was 27 and it was achieved by Derrick Thomas for Alabama in 1988. He achieved 27 sacks for a total loss of 204 yards, this magical season came when he was a Senior. Thomas also had 18 sacks in his Junior year and was named to Alabama’s Team of the Century and Defensive Player of the Decade of the 1980s.

In the NFL Thomas would play for the Kansas City Chiefs his whole career, he was named to the NFL’s team of the decade in 1990, and the Chiefs retired his number 58 and he had 126 sacks in his career.
