3. Clint Capela

When healthy, Clint Capela has been a defensive force for the Atlanta Hawks. He’s a big offensive factor in the pick-and-roll and one of the best rim protectors in the league. Then again, the Hawks have been active in trade talks for nearly every star over the past couple of years.

Capela’s contract and impact make him a valuable trade asset for salary-matching purposes. Moreover, Onyeka Okongwu looks promising and ready to embrace a bigger role on a team-friendly deal.

2. Deandre Ayton

Deandre Ayton and the Phoenix Suns could never reach an agreement over an extension. He doesn’t feel valued in the desert, and his frustration was evident in Game 7 against the Dallas Mavericks, as he barely played.

Ayton believes he’s a max player and wants to be paid as such. And while some teams could be on the fence about signing him to a huge deal, the Suns might be forced to either let him go or work on a sign-and-trade. He’s a restricted free agent, so they could still bring him back if they choose to.

1. Nikola Vucevic

Nikola Vucevic was solid in his first half-season with the Chicago Bulls but not so much in the encore. While he’s a versatile scorer and solid rebounder, his defense is subpar, and his fit next to Zach LaVine and DeMar DeRozan is somewhat questionable.

Arturas Karnisovas is aggressive and won’t hesitate to pull the trigger if he finds a suitable deal, even if he’s one of DeRozan’s best friends going back to college. The Bulls need a defensive-minded PF/C and/or draft picks. So,don’t be shocked if they move on from Vucif they can get any of those things.

These are just two of the biggest takeaways from the regular season. But, with the playoffs right around the corner, we’ve yet to see the best basketball of the year, and we couldn’t be more excited about that.

What most people don’t know is that the big man wasn’t actually born in the United States. In fact, he didn’t even attend college, as he was born and raised in Switzerland. He’s the highest-earning team athlete in his nation’s history.

Reggie Jackson

A couple of years ago, it seemed like Reggie Jackson was poised to break out and become one of the best scoring guards in the league. Those days have passed but he’s still having a big role off the bench for the Los Angeles Clippers.

With that name, you’d assume that he was born in the United States, but that’s not true. He was actually born in Pordenone, Italy, as his fathers were American soldiers deployed on Italian soil when he was born.

Patrick Ewing

Most people consider Patrick Ewing as the greatest player in New York Knicks history and I won’t be the one to disagree. He was one of the most dominant rebounders and post scorers of his time, even representing Team USA.

But, crazy as it may seem, Ewing wasn’t even an American, at least not from the States. The legend out of Georgetown was actually born in Jamaica, and his son used to play for the Jamaican national team.

Steve Kerr

Wait, what? How come Steve Kerr isn’t American? With that name, and having attended an NCAA program, how on earth the legendary three-point shooter, 8-time NBA Champion wasn’t born on U.S soil?

Well, believe it or not, Steve Kerr was actually born inLebanon, where his father was a college teacher. Sadly, he was assassinated by extremists while Steve was back home in the United States.

Kyrie Irving

And last, but not least, we find perhaps the most surprising player on this list. Yes, believe it or not, Kyrie Irving wasn’t born in the United States. As a matter of fact, he was born in Melbourne, Australia.

Irving became infamous for his thoughts on the earth being flat, but he should know better, as he had to make a huge trip when he was a kid. He’s played for the United States and was even named MVP of the FIBA World Cup in 2014.
