NY Yankees’ Aaron Boone admits Aaron Judge’s return is behind Cody Bellinger, Giancarlo Stanton

https://bolavip.com/en/mlb/ny-yankees-aaron-boone-admits-aaron-judges-return-is-behind-cody-bellinger-giancarlo-stanton

The New York Yankees are dealing with multiple injury recoveries simultaneously, and manager Aaron Boone addressed them with an honest comment.

Two things can be true at the same time. On the one hand, New York Yankees manager Aaron Boone revealed important progress on Aaron Judge’s injury recovery. On the other hand, he did confess Judge’s return will take some more time. Fans will likely see Cody Bellinger and Giancarlo Stanton back in action earlier in the 2026 MLB season.

“Aaron Boone said ‘probably’ when asked if Cody Bellinger and Giancarlo Stanton will be back before Aaron Judge returns,” Chris Kirschner of The Athletic reported on his X account.

In some ways, Boone’s update shouldn’t come as a surprise. Stanton is reportedly only one step away from being activated and has run the bases recently, while Bellinger continues to prove the Yankees’ original timeline wrong by staying ahead of schedule in his recovery.

NY Yankees await returns

Although the Yankees are managing to stay afloat in the American League Wild Card race, the Bronx Bombers could be walking into trouble, especially if their offensive struggles continue and the Pinstripers remain without Judge, Bellinger, and Stanton.

Aaron Boone #17 of the New York Yankees.

Asked when to expect the three key injured players back, Boone suggested the order of their returns is trending toward Bellinger, Stanton, and Judge. It makes sense, considering Bellinger has participated in batting practice recently, Stanton is back to running the bases in practice, and Judge has yet to return to baseball activities and was only recently cleared for “light activity.”

Where Bellinger and Stanton stand

During an appearance on Talkin’ Yanks, Boone commented that Bellinger isn’t “too far off,” but is dealing with some tightness. The Yankees won’t take any risks with the three-time All-Star outfielder, so Bellinger won’t be rushed back.

As for Stanton, Boone admitted there’s a scenario in which the 36-year-old requires a rehab assignment, such as the one Luis Gil is going through as he slowly prepares for his return to MLB action.

https://bolavip.com/en/mlb/cody-bellinger-reportedly-proving-ny-yankees-injury-timeline-wrong

The New York Yankees may have never expected Cody Bellinger's recovery to be going as well as it has. Still, they will take their time.

The New York Yankees recently heard an encouraging update from Cody Bellinger, and the good news just keeps stacking up in the Bronx. Approaching the home stretch of the 2026 MLB season, Bellinger is putting in the work to return from injury. In fact, if it were up to him, the star outfielder could already be back in action.

After placing Bellinger on the 10-day injured list (IL) with a Grade 2 hamstring strain in his left leg, the Yankees set a four-to-six-week timeline for Bellinger’s return. A little over two weeks have passed since Bellinger’s injury designation on July 26, and a report suggests Bellinger is already nearing peak competitive form.

“Bellinger is ahead of schedule,” Yankees broadcaster Emmanuel Barberi reported on 161st and River Ave podcast. “I was talking to him, and he’s definitely ahead of schedule. The Yankees are being careful, rightfully so, because they don’t want to re-injure anything. If there was no timeline attached to this, [Bellinger] would be close to [being] back already.”

Learning that Bellinger is on the right track, along with Brian Cashman’s significant update on Aaron Judge’s return, means the best may be yet to come for the Yankees. Maybe it won’t be long before the Pinstripers’ batting order is back to normal.

Cody Bellinger #35 of the New York Yankees.

NY Yankees need Bellinger, but need him healthy

Although Bellinger is sending all the right signals to the Bronx Bombers and appears to be nearing full health, the Yankees will be once bitten, twice shy. If there’s one thing worse than being without Bellinger, it’s having him return only to lose him for even more time, and possibly for good ahead of the MLB postseason.

Thus, Aaron Boone and company will be cautious. For the time being, the Yankees are managing to stay afloat in the postseason race even without Bellinger and Aaron Judge.

Indeed, New York is struggling at the plate, but it still manages to pick up wins against direct opponents. Having the duo back would help, but the Bronx Bombers know all that matters is being healthy by the time October rolls around.

Bellinger’s stats so far

Through 102 appearances in the 2026 MLB campaign, Bellinger has tallied 52 runs, 97 hits, 11 home runs, and 53 runs batted in (RBI). Moreover, the 31-year-old outfielder has posted a .259 batting average, .350 on-base percentage (OBP), .420 slugging percentage (SLG), .770 on-base plus slugging (OPS), and 3.9 wins above replacement (WAR).

The worst may be over for the New York Yankees, as Cody Bellinger and Aaron Judge continue to take key steps toward full returns in the 2026 MLB season.

For the time being, the New York Yankees must make do with what they have, and that means struggling offensively day in and day out. However, it may not be long before that becomes a thing of the past, as Cody Bellinger and Aaron Judge are putting in the work to return during the 2026 MLB campaign.

According to Bellinger’s latest statement, the Bronx Bombers have reason to be excited. And with Brian Cashman providing an update on Judge’s return to action, the sun may finally be coming out for the Pinstripers. And right on time, as the MLB postseason rises on the horizon.

“I’m feeling good,” Bellinger told media, via RotoBaller, after taking part in batting practice during the weekend series against the Atlanta Braves. “I feel like I’m right on track.“ It appears that Bellinger is proving the Yankees’ injury timeline wrong.

Bellinger’s injury status

Bellinger has been out of the Yankees’ lineup since being placed on the 10-day injured list (IL) on July 26. Dealing with a Grade 2 left hamstring strain, it’s been over two weeks since Bellinger suited up for the Pinstripers.

Cody Bellinger #35 of the New York Yankees.

However, he’s ramped up his routine, taking part in batting practice, as well as running and throwing during practice. The initial expectation was for the former MVP and three-time All-Star to miss four to six weeks. Bellinger has been testing that timeline and may be back sooner.

New York will take every precaution, as it understands how valuable Bellinger will be come October, but if the offense continues to struggle as it has as of late, the Yankees may send the star slugger out to the plate sooner. Judge will take longer to get back in action, but both are trending in the right direction, and the Bronx Bombers have reason to believe. Additionally, Giancarlo Stanton seems to be one step away from returning to the Yankees’ lineup.

NY Yankees struggling without Bellinger and Judge

For the time being, the pitching rotation of Cam Schlittler, Max Fried, and Gerrit Cole will have to keep up their good work. With the headaches at the plate, New York’s best shot right now is by putting itself in low-scoring games.

So far, so good. But the sooner players like Jazz Chisholm Jr. and Trent Grisham can wake up, the better. If not, the Yankees may be left out to dry, waiting for Bellinger and Judge’s heroic returns while letting superb performances at the mound go to waste.

With the MLB trade deadline around the corner and Cody Bellinger out with an injury, the New York Yankees have made a deal with the Washington Nationals.

The New York Yankees mainly deploy Cody Bellinger in the outfield, but the 31-year-old is also a depth option at first base. With the veteran star out for at least a month because of a hamstring injury and the Bronx Bombers locked in a tight American League playoff race, now is the time for the organization to make a move. Ahead of the MLB trade deadline, Washington Nationals first baseman Luis Garcia Jr. is New York-bound.

Although the Yankees may be running from behind in the Luis Arraez sweepstakes, they may find an alternative in Garcia Jr. Indeed, the former Nationals infielder can protect multiple bases, and his production doesn’t suffer because of the versatility.

“The New York Yankees are acquiring infielder Luis Garcia Jr. from the Washington Nationals,” MLB insider Jeff Passan stated on his X account. According to Passan, New York is sending four prospects to Washington in return. Based on Joel Sherman’s reports, Jack Cerbert (No. 14 prospect in Yankees’ pipeline) may be one of them.

Why trade makes sense for both teams

Below .500 and fourth in the AL East, the Nationals are willing to part with one of their best players of the 2026 MLB season. Although Garcia has primarily played first base and designated hitter this year, he has more than enough experience at second base and shortstop throughout his professional career.

Luis Garcia playing for the Nationals.

As a result, his addition to the Yankees will be an intriguing one. Aaron Boone has more than one spot for him in the lineup, and with Bellinger expected to be out for an extended period, the Pinstripers may look a bit different heading into the home stretch of the season.

Crucial hours before MLB trade deadline

The 2026 MLB trade deadline is set for Monday, Aug. 3 at 6 p.m. ET. The clock is ticking, and the Yankees appear to be a couple of moves away from truly becoming a contender. After watching the Los Angeles Dodgers trade for Tarik Skubal without barely breaking a sweat or giving up anything of significant value, it’s clear New York will have to step up its trade game and improve its 40-man roster if it wants to have a chance.

Many believe the season is virtually over and that Los Angeles is on track for a three-peat. If there is one club that would like to avoid that outcome, it is the Yankees, who can boast the last three-peat in MLB history (1998, 1999, 2000). To do so, though, Brian Cashman and company must get to work. Acquiring Garcia Jr. is a strong start, but it may not be enough to truly send chills down the Dodgers’ spine.

NY Yankees must address their bullpen

New York is still in need of a reliever, and that’s one position not even Garcia’s versatility can make up for. Bellinger’s injury definitely changed the Yankees’ plans heading into the trade deadline, but the bottom line remains the same. Trading Camilo Doval to the Pittsburgh Pirates was never the end goal for the Bronx Bombers—only the first step toward it.

However, time is running out, and there hasn’t been much buzz surrounding potential bullpen additions in the Bronx. Still, the front office at Yankee Stadium has reminded fans not to take it for granted, as anything can happen overnight, especially in the final hours before the deadline.

https://bolavip.com/en/mlb/ny-yankees-reunion-with-ny-mets-luke-weaver-reportedly-top-need-despite-cody-bellinger-injury

The New York Yankees may have their sights set on bringing Luke Weaver back, but they would first need to strike a deal with the New York Mets.

The MLB trade deadline is right around the corner, and the rumor mill is in overdrive. Naturally, much of the buzz surrounds the New York Yankees, who are determined to make the final tweaks to their roster. Although Cody Bellinger’s injury has changed the Yankees’ plans, the Pinstripes aren’t losing sight of a glaring need, and that could lead them to strike a deal with their crosstown rivals, the New York Mets.

According to ESPN, the Yankees are open to parting with relief pitcher Camilo Doval. However, they would prefer to replace him rather than simply subtract a right-handed arm from their bullpen in the middle of the 2026 MLB season. As a result, many have pointed to Mets reliever Luke Weaver, who may be open to a change of scenery that wouldn’t require much of a fresh start.

“Luke Weaver. He is the reliever the [Yankees] need,” as commented by Jimmy O’Brien on Talkin’ Yanks. “The Yankees need someone who can replace Doval, someone who can get [right-handed batters] out. Go get him, the Yankees fixed [Weaver], go rescue him.”

Weaver could be back with Yankees

After claiming Weaver off waivers in 2023, the Yankees unlocked the reliever’s potential. Weaver went on to post two strong seasons in the Bronx, including a career year in 2024, when he recorded a 2.89 ERA and struck out 103 batters. Weaver signed with the Mets as a free agent ahead of the 2026 MLB season.

Luke Weaver #30 of the New York Mets.

Although his production has been as good as expected, the Mets are struggling and appear to be trending toward becoming sellers at the trade deadline. Doing business with the organization in the Bronx is hardly an appealing option for the Mets, but the return could make it worthwhile.

For the Yankees, just how much they would be willing to give up for Weaver remains to be seen. Regardless, having to address the void left by Bellinger‘s injury certainly doesn’t help. Still, the Yankees are usually cunning enough to figure their way around trade deadlines.

Another thing to keep an eye on

Weaver isn’t the only Mets pitcher gaining traction ahead of the trade deadline. In fact, another arm generating buzz also happens to be a former Yankee. The Chicago White Sox have been linked to Clay Holmes in a move that could influence the odds of Weaver being traded.

Although Holmes has become a starting pitcher in Queens, he previously worked as a reliever in the Bronx. The chances of the Mets moving both pitchers seem slim, but nothing can be ruled out.

Weaver’s contract

Although Weaver is drawing plenty of interest ahead of the trade deadline, the Mets may not be in any rush to move him out of Queens. The 32-year-old is signed to a two-year, $22 million contract through 2027. Under that deal, Weaver is set to earn $9.5 million this season, followed by a $12.5 million salary in 2027, according to Spotrac.

Perhaps the Mets would prefer to trade him to avoid paying the larger portion of the contract, but parting with one of their top relievers—especially if it means strengthening the Yankees’ World Series hopes—may come with a price tag too steep for any interested team.

The New York Yankees have Cody Bellinger and Aaron Judge sidelined with injuries, so a potential addition of Francisco Lindor from the Mets could bring much-needed offensive firepower back to the field.

The MLB trade deadline is approaching, and teams are quickly moving to finalize last-minute deals. The recent injury to Cody Bellinger, along with Aaron Judge’s absence, has created a situation where the New York Yankees cannot afford to lose offensive firepower, which is why a recent report from ESPN’s Alden Gonzalez regarding the potential arrival of New York Mets star Francisco Lindor makes sense.

“The Yankees need to address shortstop and could use another difference-making player with Aaron Judge nursing a rib injury. Lindor, who has full no-trade protection at this point, can stay in New York and play for a contender,“ Gonzalez wrote.

The financial factor could also be a determining factor. “And the Mets would be able to shed a big contract while breaking up the Lindor dynamic with Juan Soto, which clearly is not working.”

How could Lindor fit into Aaron Boone’s system?

While replacing two massive bats like Aaron Judge and Cody Bellinger is almost impossible for just one player, bringing in Francisco Lindor would keep the Yankees‘ offense dangerous. Currently with the Mets, Lindor has already provided reliable power and run creation this season with 8 home runs, 23 RBIs, and a solid .743 OPS.

Francisco Lindor #12 of the New York Mets at bat.

More importantly, he continues to make hard contact on nearly 48% of his hits, proving he can deliver clutch power from both sides of the plate. Adding a star switch-hitter with his consistency gives Aaron Boone a proven middle-infield anchor, ensuring the pinstripes won’t lose their offensive edge while waiting for their big sluggers to get healthy.

The injuries affecting Judge and Bellinger

Aaron Judge has been sidelined since early June with a right rib stress fracture. While recent imaging showed progress, he has not yet been cleared to resume baseball activities, leaving his return timeline uncertain as the team continues to re-evaluate his healing process.

Meanwhile, Cody Bellinger was recently placed on the 10-day injured list after suffering a Grade 2 left hamstring strain while rounding first base. Manager Aaron Boone confirmed that Bellinger is expected to miss 4 to 6 weeks, further thinning the Yankees’ outfield depth and offensive power.

Aaron Judge #99 of the New York Yankees looks on from the dugout.

What is the trade deadline date?

The 2026 MLB trade deadline is set for Monday, August 3, at 6:00 p.m. ET. Under the current Collective Bargaining Agreement, the Commissioner’s Office shifted the deadline slightly past its traditional July 31 date to ensure trades don’t disrupt early-afternoon games.

This cutoff represents the absolute last chance for contenders to make roster moves and acquire players on 40-man rosters for their stretch run and postseason pushes.

Cody Bellinger's injury could reshape the Yankees' trade deadline strategy as New York weighs whether to prioritize adding an outfielder.

The New York Yankees may need to rethink their approach ahead of the MLB trade deadline after Cody Bellinger was placed on the injured list with a Grade 2 left hamstring strain. Expected to miss four to six weeks, the outfielder joins Aaron Judge on the sidelines, leaving New York with another significant hole in its lineup.

According to MLB.com, the Yankees had already been exploring upgrades at catcher, shortstop and in the bullpen. Bellinger’s absence, however, could increase the urgency to acquire a right-handed outfield bat before the deadline.

The injury comes at an unfortunate time for New York, as Bellinger had become one of the club’s most productive hitters. His absence gives general manager Brian Cashman another roster decision to weigh as the Yankees continue their push for the postseason.

Which outfielders could the Yankees pursue?

MLB Network insider Jon Heyman has linked New York to several right-handed hitters who could fit the club’s needs. Among the reported possibilities are George Springer, Jo Adell, Jorge Soler, Lane Thomas, Taylor Ward, and Heliot Ramos.

Cody Bellinger #35 of the New York Yankees strikes out. Caleb Bowlin/Getty Images

Heyman also reported that the Yankees are unlikely to pursue Luis Robert Jr., with concerns surrounding the White Sox outfielder’s injury history believed to be a factor in the club’s evaluation.

Will Bellinger’s injury change New York’s deadline priorities?

New York entered deadline season looking to strengthen multiple areas of the roster, but losing Bellinger could force the front office to place a greater emphasis on adding another outfielder.

The Yankees still have needs behind the plate, in the infield, and in the bullpen, but replacing Bellinger’s production has quickly become another challenge. How Cashman balances those priorities over the coming days could shape the club’s chances in the American League playoff race.

New York Yankees' Cody Bellinger shared his perspective on the Los Angeles Dodgers’ aggressive spending strategy as debate grows across Major League Baseball.
The Los Angeles Dodgers have become one of the most talked-about teams in baseball in recent years, largely because of their aggressive spending. New York Yankees outfielder and former Dodgers player Cody Bellinger recently weighed in on the debate, making it clear he sees nothing wrong with the team’s approach to investing heavily in talent.

Some fans and analysts believe the Dodgers’ financial power gives them an unfair advantage, and the debate about whether the league should implement stricter spending rules continues to grow.

Cody Bellinger weighed in on the debate with a different perspective. “I would think it would be bad for baseball if they’re making all this money and they’re pocketing it and not putting it into the organization and they’re not putting the best product out on the field,” Bellinger said, according to Gary Phillips.

Dodgers’ spending philosophy continues to draw attention

From Bellinger’s perspective, the Dodgers are simply doing what any successful franchise should: investing in winning. The organization consistently spends to improve its roster and give fans the best possible product on the field.

Cody Bellinger #35 of the Yankees. Ishika Samant/Getty Images

That strategy has clearly paid off. Los Angeles has remained one of baseball’s most competitive teams and continues to enter every season as a serious championship contender.

Debate about spending and salary limits remains active

The Dodgers’ approach has also influenced other teams around the league. Clubs such as the Toronto Blue Jays, New York Yankees, and Chicago Cubs have also made major financial commitments in recent seasons in an effort to keep pace.

Even so, the conversation about competitive balance in MLB is unlikely to disappear anytime soon. Some fans have called for a salary cap to limit big-market spending, but supporters like Bellinger believe teams investing in their rosters is ultimately good for the sport.

Aaron Boone understands that New York Yankees fans want to see Cody Bellinger healthy and on the field, and without hesitation the manager addressed the situation directly, explaining what is going on with one of the team’s star players.
Aaron Boone has consistently aimed to be transparent about what’s happening with the New York Yankees, and this time he was direct regarding Cody Bellinger’s back issue. According to the manager, the discomfort is similar to something Bellinger dealt with early last season, but he could be back in the lineup within a few days.

The update came from Bryan Hoch on X (@bryanhoch): “Cody Bellinger’s ‘back went out on him,’ Aaron Boone said. Similar to an issue he experienced early last season. Plan is to get him back in the lineup Tuesday,” Boone reportedly said.

It’s worth noting that on Feb. 26, Bellinger had said, “Hopefully I have some of my best years coming ahead of me,” fueling optimism that the outfielder would begin the season fully healthy. However, that may not be the case.

Bellinger and another teammate could return Tuesday

Bellinger may not be the only player returning Tuesday. Giancarlo Stanton is also expected to be available for the roster that same day. Given their experience, both veterans are key pieces in the Yankees’ lineup. Last season, Bellinger posted a .272 batting average, while Stanton hit .273.

Despite having to deliver the concerning update, Boone emphasized that Bellinger remains confident about the team’s outlook. “I’m excited to run it back with those guys and I’m fully confident in the group,” Bellinger told SNY.

If Bellinger is unable to suit up, the Yankees have several options listed on their depth chart to cover left field. According to ESPN, Jasson Domínguez is one candidate who could step in if Bellinger’s back issue lingers. Other potential options include José Caballero, Amed Rosario and even Stanton.

Cody Bellinger addressed the media after his initial appearances in the New York Yankees jersey as he embarked on his second season with the team. He shared insights on the experience of playing alongside star outfielder Aaron Judge.
This isn’t Cody Bellinger‘s first time taking the field for the New York Yankees alongside Aaron Judge. As he enters his second year with the team, Bellinger was asked about his experiences playing with the Yankees’ captain. He shared some insightful thoughts on the matter.

In an interview with YES Network, the Yankees‘ offseason addition expressed genuine admiration for Judge and optimism for the upcoming season. “Having a front-row seat to what he does, I can learn a lot from his swing and how he prepares,” Bellinger remarked. “Ultimately, talking to him a bit about what he thinks of the game has been enlightening.”

These comments highlight the camaraderie between Bellinger and Judge, two hitters the Yankees are counting on to contribute significantly to their season’s goals. Judge has already laid out his mindset with a firm statement ahead of the Yankees’ upcoming campaign.

Meanwhile, Bellinger aims to solidify his place on the roster after last year’s performance and is eager to showcase his talent at this stage of his career to help the team in their title pursuit this year.

The New York Yankees’ star, Aaron Judge, shared his thoughts on the team's prospects for the upcoming season with the addition of Cody Bellinger and Paul Goldschmidt to the roster.
Social media is abuzz with comments about the impact Cody Bellinger is expected to have on the New York Yankees‘ roster. Despite rumors linking him to their city rivals, Bellinger has committed to the Yankees and is poised to be a key player for the upcoming season, joining the likes of Aaron Judge and Paul Goldschmidt, who was re-signed during the offseason.

As the Yankees prepare for spring training games at the end of this week, Judge spoke to the media about the team’s prospects with Bellinger and Goldschmidt on board, noting that the team has kept these pivotal players to face the 2026 MLB season.

“A lot of guys have the opportunity to play their second year here, like Bellinger. We traded for him, and it’s going to be his second year with us. He’s acclimating to Yankee Stadium and this environment, much like Paul Goldschmidt, another crucial player we’ve brought back. He’s been a winner, an MVP, and he’s here to support our system alongside our young hitters. I’m excited about it… I like our chances with them,“ Judge told SNY.

With this endorsement from Judge ahead of the new season, Yankees fans are beginning to dream about the performance of a team whose primary goal this year is clear: winning the World Series, something they haven’t achieved since 2009.

Bellinger’s reflections on his offseason drama with the Yankees

Success this season won’t solely rely on Judge’s contributions; the synergy between the offensive players on the field will be crucial in making good things happen for the Yankees this season.

Goldschmidt’s performance last season with the Yankees

Another key figure for the Yankees this season is Paul Goldschmidt, an experienced player who knows what it takes to shine. Although his stats with the Yankees last season were not his career best, they were sufficient for the front office to offer him another contract.

Paul Goldschmidt’s 2025 season stats:

Games Played: 146

At-Bats: 489

Batting Average: .274

Home Runs: 10

RBIs: 45

OPS: .731

Stolen Bases: 5

WAR (bWAR): 1.2
