Fortunately, Philadelphia will have one of its cornerstone players back in 2026. According to team insider Jeff McLane, right tackle Lane Johnson confirmed he will return for the upcoming campaign, calling it one last run with the Eagles.

Johnson, a future Hall of Famer, had been rumored to be considering retirement this offseason. However, the veteran right tackle has decided to return for his 14th season as he continues recovering from a Lisfranc foot injury that sidelined him for the final eight games of the year.

A new era for the Eagles

Following a disappointing 2025 season, the Eagles decided to part ways with Kevin Patullo. The team will now turn to Sean Mannion as offensive coordinator, with high expectations for improvement heading into 2026.

According to Jeff McLane of Uncovering the Birds and other multiple reports, right tackle Lane Johnson and left guard Landon Dickerson could consider retiring from the NFL. This would be a massive blow to the Eagles and specifically, Jalen Hurts, who would see how his two star linemen won’t be there to protect him anymore.

However, McLane gave some hope. “In terms of Lane and his future, here’s what I can say: He’s definitely not sure if he’s coming back or not, is the impression I get. You would think maybe this would make it a little less likely,” McLane said, stating that it is just a thought, not a certainty. “When you’re looking at retirement, it’s, ‘Can my body do it again? Do I want to do it again? Lane has a very high standard for himself.”

As for Landon Dickerson, it is all the more surprising given that Dickerson is only 27 years old. “Landon Dickerson may be even more of a question mark,” McLane said. This was backed up by Mike Garafolo of NFL Network. Dickerson would definitely shock as he has been majorily healthy during his five-year career.

The Eagles offensive line would be absolutely destroyed

The Eagles were known for having the best offensive line in football. However, their captain and center Jason Kelce retired after the 2023 season. Still, a good core was left. Now, if they lose Dickerson and Johnson, it would be an absolute travesty. Only LT Jordan Mailata would remain from that great unit, alongside many new players. Without an elite O-line, the fact is Jalen Hurts could get exposed.

The running game could also suffer

Of course, the running game starring Saquon Barkley would also have plenty of things to adjust. Barkley had a “down” year compared to his 2024 season. In 2024, he had 345 attempts, 2,005 yards, and 13 touchdowns and was an All-Pro.

In 2025, he ended with 1,140 yards and just seven touchdowns. Basically, he had half the production. Without an elite offensive line, Barkley will have an uphill battle to get some momentum going for the team’s rushing game.

According to multiple reports, Josh Grizzard has been hired as the Eagles’ pass game coordinator. This comes almost immediately after the announcement that Sean Mannion will become the new offensive coordinator.

Grizzard failed to deliver as the Tampa Bay Buccaneers offensive coordinator. After not being able to work it out with Baker Mayfield, now Grizzard will help Mannion with Jalen Hurts.

This is a known position for Grizzard

Before being an offensive coordinator on the Buccaneers, he had this same exact position of being a pass game coordinator. To be fair, he was great in that role, so much so that he was promoted. Now, it’s back to his bread and butter and with a loaded roster of Jalen Hurts, AJ Brown, and DeVonta Smith as the core of the passing game of the Eagles.

Grizzard was also in the mix to be the team’s offensive coordinator. He will now be entering a tough spot. Even though the Eagles have a loaded roster, the fact is that this team has some serious dysfunction. The talent is huge, but so is the drama.

All eyes are on Nick Sirianni

Sirianni is an offensive-minded head coach, and that’s why all eyes are on him. When a team has a QB like Jalen Hurts, a star running back like Saquon Barkley, two star receivers in AJ Brown and DeVonta Smith, and a star tight end in Dallas Goedert, you must deliver. Sirianni is not one to call plays, but he can’t trust blindly on his coordinators. That is a boom-or-bust recipe.

Hence, if Mannion and Grizzard don’t work, all the blame will be put on Sirianni this time. Despite going to two Super Bowls and winning one of them in only five years, he might be on the hot seat. The team’s offense was what didn’t click last year, as defensive coordinator Vic Fangio kept delivering an elite level of play in his unit.

Earlier in the offseason, the Eagles announced that Kevin Patullo would be relieved of his duties as offensive coordinator. After weeks of searching, Philadelphia has now found his replacement.

On Thursday, the Eagles confirmed that Sean Mannion will join the team as offensive coordinator. He arrives after serving as the quarterbacks coach for the Green Bay Packers.

Mannion struggled to find success with Jordan Love

Mannion is a former Pac-12 record-setting quarterback at Oregon State who spent nine seasons in the NFL with the Rams, Vikings, and Seahawks. However, he was unable to find sustained success as a player.

Mannion has worked with quarterbacks such as Jared Goff, Kirk Cousins, Russell Wilson, Geno Smith, Nick Foles, and most recently Jordan Love. With Love, many believed the Packers had everything in place to succeed—but the results ultimately fell short of expectations.

Now, Mannion takes over an Eagles offense that has struggled at times in recent seasons. Jalen Hurts will need to silence his critics, and Mannion will be tasked with helping him accomplish that challenging goal.

“I’m thrilled to have Sean Mannion on board as the new offensive coordinator of the Philadelphia Eagles,” head coach Nick Sirianni said. “My goal throughout this process was to operate with an open mind regarding the future of our offense to find the best fit for the Eagles. Over the last few weeks, I had an opportunity to meet with a number of talented candidates and great offensive minds. I am appreciative of the time I was able to spend with each of them. Some came with years of experience running an offense and calling plays.”

According to Adam Schefter of ESPN, it’s expected that Brian Daboll interviews for the Eagles OC job. Daboll is one of the most sought out names on the market right now. The former Coach of the Year could also go to be an offensive coordinator for Justin Herbert’s Chargers though.

Daboll was fired midseason after three-and-a-half seasons with the Giants. He did have bright moments, though there were also plenty of moments were he looked overwhelmed. Also important to note, the Giants didn’t give Daboll the best hand to succeed.

Daboll’s temperament could also not match well in Philly

Daboll is known for having a temper, and that might not be what the Eagles need right now. After all, the team looks like a ticking bomb with AJ Brown making tantrums, Jalen Hurts being passive aggressive on the podium or head coach Nick Sirianni publicly confronting his players. A guy like Daboll might be the one who puts everyone on their place, or joins the mess. It’s a risky spot.

As for his abilities as a playcaller, the fact is the Eagles do possess talent that Daboll could exploit. Daboll loves using crossing routes and RPOs, a playbook where Jalen Hurts could absolutely thrive in.

The Eagles have the tools to bounce back

The fact is roster-wise, the Eagles have all the tools to go back into Super Bowl contention. The problem is the drama within their building. If they somehow manage to make peace and find stability to balance their egos, this team could be once again considered a total juggernaut.

AJ Brown had a tumultuous season with the Eagles in 2025. He had plenty of temper tantrums, back and forths with head coach Nick Sirianni and somewhat of a passive aggressive relationship with quarterback Jalen Hurts. Still, no one can deny he is a special player.

The team’s general manager knows it. Per Mike Garafolo of NFL Network, Roseman spoke about AJ Brown’s future. “It’s hard to find great players in the NFL and AJ’s a great player. That’s what we’re going out and looking for, when we go out in free agency and the Draft, is trying to find great players who love football and he’s that guy. So that would be my answer.” That is very ambiguous answer, classic Eagles behaviour.

AJ Brown ended the season on a low

Brown had a crucial drop against the 49ers in the Wild Card Round, which sparked a confrontation with HC Nick Sirianni. During the game, he only had three catches in seven targets for only 25 yards.

Brown barely cracked the 1,000-yard mark this season as he ended with 1,003 and seven touchdowns. He actually has scored seven touchdowns in each of the last three seasons in Philadelphia. However, it seems like he is done with the team, but Roseman would only trade him if something elite is in return.

This would be just one of few changes

Nick Sirianni already confirmed a change in the Eagles coaching staff for next year. However, it remains to be seen if a new weapon arrives this offseason. Jalen Hurts is in desperate need of a bounce back season as well.

What we know for sure is how aggressive and genius Howie Roseman is during the offseason. Hence, no big movements would be surprising if they come from the Eagles. It’s a matter of when, not a matter of if.

In a social media post from the Eagles‘ profiles, Sirianni stated that the team will relieve Kevin Patullo from the offensive coordinator duties. While Patullo will no longer be the OC, Sirianni is open to keeping Patullo on staff, according to Adam Schefter of ESPN.

The Eagles are an absolute bizarre team right now. Arguably the most talented team in the NFL, it’s also incredibly dysfunctional. The locker room never seems to be getting along, and now the results are not accompanying the team, the drama is at an all-time high.

Insider Tom Pelissero revealed via his X account that Carson Steele is headed to the NFC to join the Eagles, according to an announcement from his agent, Randy Fisher. The former UCLA standout will be taking on a new chapter starting next season.

During the most recent campaign, Steele saw no regular-season game action beyond the preseason. In 2024, he logged 56 carries for 183 yards, failing to score a touchdown.

Long overshadowed by bigger-name talents such as Isiah Pacheco and Kareem Hunt, Steele will now look to carve out a much larger role in Philadelphia alongside with Jalen Hurts, aiming to finally prove that he belongs in the NFL.

Major changes are coming to Chiefs Kingdom

As the Kansas City Chiefs enter the 2026 offseason, the coaching staff is bracing for a significant shake-up. According to Mike Garafolo of NFL Network, defensive end Brandon Graham said he’ll take time to think about his future. Graham was retired but came back this year to help the team find solutions to its pass rush problems.

Per Garafolo, Graham told him after the game against the 49ers that he felt his body responded well and that “he was just getting into a groove down the stretch.” Graham will turn 38 in April but it seems like while he is considering hanging the cleats, it will all depend on how he feels he can feature on the team in the next year.

Graham is an Eagles legend already

Graham is a two-time Super Bowl and one of the most storied players in Eagles history. His legacy is set in stone. Graham has 79.5 career sacks, 23 forced fumbles, 495 total tackles and had an all-important play in Super Bowl LII to seal the win for the Eagles.

Graham will surely be in the team’s ring of honor one day. However, it’s impressive how he still loves not only the team, but the game of football. In a team where changes are expected, including coaches, Graham has been one true, high constant for the team since 2010.

Even if Graham returns, Eagles need more pass rush

The Eagles did two things to strengthen their pass rush this season following Za’Darius Smith’s unexpected retirement. They unretired Graham, and also traded for Jaelan Phillips. However, more help is needed. Phillips made an instant impact but then his output became stagnant.

Now that Graham is also considering retiring for good, one of the top priorities for this offseason should be acquiring a pass rusher. Also, with all the AJ Brown drama, maybe get a new wide receiver that helps Jalen Hurts.
