Jonah Hauer-King has had his big break playing Prince Eric in Disney’s live-action version of ‘The Little Mermaid.’ Thanks to a great chemistry with co-star Halle Bailey, as well as enhanced backstory for his character, the British actor has captivated audiences with a charming performance.

However, Hauer-King is no stranger to period pieces. Before The Little Mermaid, he was most known for the World War II drama “World on Fire,” for the BBC. He will reprise his role as Harry Chase in the second season of the TV drama, which is set to premiere this Summer.

Louisa May Alcott’s beloved coming-of-age novel ‘Little Women’ has been adapted to film and TV several times. One of the most recent was Greta Gerwig ‘s version with Saoirse Ronan and Thimothée Chalamet (2018). However, another recent one was the BBC’s 2017 miniseries.

The 2017 version is the fourth-time that the BBC adapts Alcott’s novel, after the 1950, 1958 and 1970’s adaptations. In the latest, Hauer-King plays Laurie, while Maya Hawke from Stranger Things played Jo March.

Willa Fitzgerald (Meg March), Kathryn Newton (Amy March) and Annes Elwy (Beth March) complete the main cast. This miniseries only has three episodes. Apart from Prime Video, you can also watch it on PBS, Hoopla and Pureflix.

The story follows its characters and depicts a young mermaid, who longs to know the world beyond the sea and visits the surface. There she falls in love with a handsome man and following her heart, makes a deal with the evil sea witch, Ursula, to experience life on land.

The young stars play Prince Eric and Ariel, the little mermaid herself. The film will hit the big screen on May 25 and after a good time in theaters, it will make its big debut on one of the most popular streaming platforms: Disney+. What is going on between Jonah Hauer-King and Halle Bailey?

After spending several months on set and filming the live-action film, Jonah Hauer-King and Halle Bailey have become close friends. The 27-year-old actor has raved about his partner and said the best thing about making the film is getting to know the 23-year-old star.

Maarten Swart has been chosen as the producer and already has major titles in its repertoire, such as Christopher Nolan‘s Dunkirk, which has won major awards. Among them several Oscars in the 2018 edition.

What is A Beautiful Imperfection about?

IMDb was one of the few media that have shared a short description of the upcoming film and it indicates that the plot will follow “the passionate story of the life and love of Lucia, a renowned veiled courtesan who is the exception to the rule”. She is disfigured by smallpox and flees Italy for Amsterdam, where she meets the womanizer Giacomo Casanova.

Who is the cast of A Beautiful Imperfection?

Jonah Hauer-King will play Giacomo Casanova, while Dar Zuzovsky will play Galathée. Both actors will be the protagonists of the romance but they will not be alone, as over the weeks it has been confirmed who joined the cast.

British actor Aneurin Barnard will play Casanova’s brother. Few roles have been revealed so far and among them are Niccolò Besio as Marco, Angela Sant’Albano as Adriana De Montereale, Melanie Neu asMaria and Joanna Dolan as a Socialite.

When will A Beautiful Imperfection be released?

It has not yet been revealed when it will be released or if it will be directly available on a streaming platform. The film is currently in post-production, so it is likely that the exact date will be known in a couple of weeks.

The actor will be joining Halle Bailey, who plays Ariel, on the big screen and both will be demonstrating their singing skills. Obviously the new version continues to be a musical, so we will have some unreleased songs and during an interview, Jonah confessed that he sings and that his passion is music.

“For me that was something that I continue to love. When I was growing up, I played a lot of guitar and sang, and for a long time that’s what I thought I was going to do. Then I started doing more acting, but it’s definitely a massive passion of mine where I feel safe and comfortable and fulfilled.It’s something that, thankfully, I’ve started doing professionally as well…It’s really lovely to have different outlets and to have different creative stimulus”, he said.

He is the son of Debra Hauer, a theater producer and Jewish therapist, and Jeremy King, a restaurateur. He has a sister, Margot Hauer-King, who is an account manager and current partner of actor Josh O’Connor.

His maternal grandparents were Polish Jews and fled Warsaw in the 1930s, so he was raised Jewish. He attended St John’s College in Cambridge and completed his studies with a first class degree in theology and religious studies. At the same time as he was pursuing his degree, he obtained acting roles on stage and television.
