Upon learning of the survey, manager Julian Nagelsmann did not hesitate to condemn the broadcaster for even thinking it was a good idea to do such a poll, calling it “madness”.

“I thought about it briefly, and I have the feeling that we need to wake up a bit,” Nagelsmann stated. “There are people in Europe who’ve had to flee because of war, economic factors, environmental disasters, people who simply want to be taken in. We have to ask what are we doing at the moment? We in Germany are doing very, very well, and when we say something like that, I think it’s crazy how we turn a blind eye and simply block out such things.“

Nagelsmann doubled down on Kimmich’s perception, stating, “I always find it bizarre that we all go on vacation to get to know other cultures and then other cultures come here and we complain about it. It’s bizarre.”

According to Bayern’s CEO, Oliver Kahn, Nagelsmann’s exit had nothing to do with his claims that someone inside the club was leakinginformation to the press. On the contrary, the decision was merely based on results and performances by the team in different competitions.

“We have one of the best squads in Europe, but the continuity was not getting any better.We can’t be satisfied with performance and results this year. If you look at everything, we’ve only won 5 out of 10 games in the Bundesliga. That’s not our ambition. As part of the whole process, it was a priority to speak to Nagelsmann first and let him know our decision. We did that yesterday. It was a very open conversation. Of course there are nicer things in life. Julian was very open.”

HasanSalihamidžić, the sporting director of Bayern Munich, also gave his arguments to explain why they fired Julian Nagelsmann and signed Thomas Tuchel. “We believed in Julian Nagelsmann until 11 p.m. on Sunday. We believed, in between we hoped, but when you’re no longer convinced, you have to react. Luckily, there was such a top option on the market (Tuchel). Things went very quickly.”

As it happened with Kahn,Salihamidžić admitted Bayern’s results weren’t the ones expected in a crucial stage of the season. “In March of last year we had these inconsistent performances, then again in September and most recently we only won 5 out of 10 Bundesliga games. When performance curve is pointing downwards, you have to react. It wasn’t an easy decision.”

Fabrizio Romano reported on Twitter, “Bayern are parting company with Nagelsmann with immediate effect,” while BILD stated, “Bayern have come to the conclusion that Nagelsmann is the main culprit” for the club’s “bad form”. Bad form is an incredible reason as Bayern are only two points back of Borussia Dortmund in the league, the club is in the UEFA Champions League quarter finals, and are still alive in the DFB Pokal cup.

Many pundits have pointed to the recent “spy” in the Bayern locker room as one of the main issues and a breakdown between club and coach, while Sky Sports have indicated that the Bayern board was not happy that the club had only won 5 of their last 10 games.

Bayern board member Hasan Salihamidzic stated over the weekend at their defeat to Bayern Leverkusen, “This is not what Bayern Munich stands for. We lost everything, we let ourselves be overwhelmed by a team that came from playing on Thursday. Rarely have I experienced so little drive, so little mentality, so little assertiveness.”

It has been reported that the atmosphere around the club was not well especially after Nagelsmann’s tactics were leaked from the club to German outlet BILD. Nagelsmann’s passing and running tactics were all on display to the displeasure of the German manager.

At only 35, Nagelsmann has coached three teams and has a sensational 169-67-79 record and has won three titles all with Bayern Munich. Reports indicate that Thomas Tuchel is set to step in to take over the club.

The Bavarians dropped to second place after losing 2-1 to Bayer Leverkusen on Sunday, which saw the Black and Yellow finish Matchday 25 atop the standings with 53 points— one more than Bayern.

Nagelsmann was not satisfied at all with his team’s performance, claiming his players were lazy at the BayArena. Only a few days before, the young coach also said there was a “mole” in their dressing room after tactical documents were leaked to the press.

It was the second time in just a few days Nagelsmann looked furious at his own team. Ahead of the Leverkusen game, tactical documents revealing a change in their style of play were leaked to the media. And Nagelsmann didn’t take it lightly.

“It bothers me a lot,” he said. “The person who transmits this harms each of the players, he is not the objective. What is the person who transmits this looking for? What are you waiting for? I don’t see what his motivation could be, beyond facilitating the task for the adversary.

“Moles are protected species. Every time you drive through the countryside, you see 80,000 moles and you can’t get rid of them. Their search is very, very difficult. I hope that this person can’t look in the mirror because it’s not fair,” Nagelsmann added.
