Kyle Tucker reflected on his calm walk-off moment after delivering a clutch hit in the Los Angeles Dodgers’ comeback win over the Miami Marlins.
The Los Angeles Dodgers earned a dramatic 5-4 comeback win over the Miami Marlins on Monday night, with right fielder Kyle Tucker delivering the decisive moment in the bottom of the ninth. Despite the high-stakes situation, the star outfielder’s reaction remained unusually calm, continuing a trend that has defined his early days in Los Angeles.

Tucker drove in the winning runs with a two-out, two-run single off Marlins reliever Tyler Phillips, completing the Dodgers’ rally at Dodger Stadium. Even after the hit, his celebration was muted as he briefly paused at first base before teammates rushed out to greet him. “It wasn’t quite loud yet until we actually ended up winning the game there and Sho scored,” Tucker said, according to MLB.com.

He also added, “So I was like, ‘Did I get the score wrong?’ But afterwards I saw everyone running out and it got loud and everything, so I was like, ‘OK, sweet, this is sick.’”

The win marked the Dodgers’ 20th victory of the season and highlighted another late-game comeback, with Shohei Ohtani and Freddie Freeman helping set the stage in the final inning. Tucker’s hit capped the rally, even as his overall offensive rhythm continues to develop in his first season with the club after signing a $240 million deal in the offseason, a stretch in which Tucker made definitive statement on his role this season.

Tucker’s calm approach defines early Dodgers tenure

Since joining Los Angeles, Tucker has quickly become known for his steady demeanor, regardless of performance. That approach was on full display during the walk-off moment, where emotion took a back seat to execution.

Manager Dave Roberts has recently adjusted the lineup, moving Tucker down in the order to help ease pressure and allow his at-bats to develop more naturally. The move has shown early signs of improvement, with Tucker’s quality of contact trending upward even as he continues to search for consistent results.

Dodgers remain confident in Tucker’s long-term impact

Despite early offensive inconsistency, the Dodgers remain confident that Tucker’s production will align with expectations over time. For now, Los Angeles continues to benefit from timely contributions, while Tucker focuses on maintaining his approach and waiting for his breakout stretch at the plate.

Luis Arraez reacted to Dalton Rushing’s controversial slide during a heated San Francisco Giants–Los Angeles Dodgers game, calling it “dirty” in a tense NL West matchup.
San Francisco Giants infielder Luis Arraez was at the center of postgame conversation after a controversial slide by Dalton Rushing during a tense matchup against the Los Angeles Dodgers sparked debate and frustration across both dugouts. The incident added another emotional chapter to an already intense NL West rivalry.

According to SF Giants on NBCS, Arraez did not hold back when addressing the play. “The umpire said it’s a double play because he slid into Willy’s feet. For me, that’s not good. It’s not good baseball. It’s not clean baseball,” he said. He later added, “I mean, it’s dirty. For me, this is baseball for me.”

The play stemmed from a hard slide at second base that resulted in contact and an umpire ruling of a double play. While the call stood, reactions from players on both sides showed how quickly emotions escalated in a high‑pressure divisional game, and just as this play proved controversial, Logan Webb’s blunt admission after Giants’ struggles earlier this week added another layer to the conversation around San Francisco.

Giants-Dodgers rivalry adds another heated moment

The incident once again highlighted the physical and emotional edge that defines Giants-Dodgers games. Every baserunning decision and defensive play is magnified, especially in tight contests where momentum can shift instantly.

With the regular season just underway, the Los Angeles Dodgers are already staring down the first major hurdle of their title defense: a high-stakes clash with a San Diego Padres squad that remains their primary threat in the NL West.
While the Los Angeles Dodgers are off to one of their strongest starts in recent memory with a 16-7 record, they are already staring down their first major hurdle of the season: a surging San Diego Padres squad.

Boasting a nearly identical record and winners of 11 of their last 12 games, the Padres are sending a clear message that the NL West crown won’t be handed over easily. But what exactly is fueling this early-season arms race between the two rivals?

Key highlights for the Padres:

Mason Miller’s dominance: A sparkling 0.00 ERA and a 0.35 WHIP through 11.1 innings have turned Miller into one of the most feared late-inning weapons the Padres have developed this spring.

A sturdy rotation: Beyond Miller, the starting staff has been a pillar of consistency. Randy Vasquez, Walker Buehler, and Michael King have each stabilized the rotation, providing the Padres with much-needed depth.

Offensive firepower: Fernando Tatis Jr. has carried over his blistering form from the World Baseball Classic. Paired with a red-hot Ramon Laureano—who has already tallied four home runs and 15 RBIs—the Padres have become a nightmare for opposing pitchers.

A good ERA+ is 125.⁰A bad ERA+ is 75.⁰An average ERA+ is 100.

In 31 appearances since joining the Padres, Mason Miller owns an ERA+ of 780. pic.twitter.com/mB7jVB5lfu
— Paul Hembekides (Hembo) (@PaulHembo) April 17, 2026

Injury bug bites Dodgers’ depth

Despite their winning record, the Dodgers haven’t escaped unscathed. The loss of Edwin Diaz to what could be a season-ending injury was a massive blow, but he isn’t the only concern for Dave Roberts’ staff.

With high-leverage arms like Evan Phillips and Brusdar Graterol still working their way back from surgery, the bullpen has looked vulnerable at times. The rotation is also feeling the pinch with Blake Snell currently on the 15-day IL, forcing the Dodgers to rely on their organizational depth earlier than expected.

The defensive vacuum is also notable. With Mookie Betts, Tommy Edman, and Kike Hernandez currently on rehab assignments, the Dodgers’ glovework has regressed. This defensive inconsistency was a factor in their recent skid, dropping three of four to the Rockies and a frustrating series opener against the Giants.

The Ohtani factor and a rising star

While injuries are a concern, any team headlined by Shohei Ohtani remains a perennial threat. Ohtani’s two-way brilliance continues to anchor the club, but a new face has emerged as a legitimate offensive catalyst.

Dalton Rushing has been the revelation of the early season. Despite rumors swirling about his name in trade talks between these very two clubs, Rushing has remained focused on the diamond, putting up eye-popping numbers in limited action.

With seven home runs and 13 RBIs in just 29 at-bats, Rushing has surpassed all expectations. If he continues to provide this level of protection for Ohtani in the lineup, the Dodgers have more than enough firepower to counter the Padres’ hot start and maintain their grip on the division.

With Edwin Díaz potentially sidelined for the rest of the campaign, the Los Angeles Dodgers appear to be bracing for that scenario by scouting potential reinforcement to bolster their bullpen.
While the Los Angeles Dodgers have enjoyed a blistering start to the regular season, the club has hit its first major roadblock with an injury to Edwin Diaz. The high-profile offseason acquisition from the New York Mets was expected to anchor the back end of the staff, but those plans are now on hold.

With Diaz facing a significant stint on the shelf, the Dodgers are reportedly wasting no time exploring the trade market. According to MLB.com’s Holly Baylor, L.A. has already set its sights on a divisional rival. “Dodgers have checked in with the Padres on closer Mason Miller following news that Edwin Diaz is expected to undergo a procedure to remove loose bodies from his elbow,” Baylor posted on X.

The Dodgers are determined to maintain their momentum as they look to defend their World Series title, with Shohei Ohtani as he has extended historic on-base streak. However, securing an elite arm like Miller won’t come cheap, and prospect Dalton Rushing appears to be the name at the center of the conversation.

“Early talks are said to include catcher Dalton Rushing as a potential centerpiece. L.A. is exploring all options,” Baylor added, highlighting the high asking price for a premier closer.

Brighton native Dalton Rushing is having one of the craziest seasons in baseball.

Two home runs tonight, now has 7 in just 27 at-bats this year. He’s hitting .444 with an OPS of 1.760. Video game numbers.

No clear path to playing time, but he needs it. pic.twitter.com/DZYrcaV8Q1
— Matt Infield (@Matt_Infield) April 21, 2026

Is Rushing too high a price for the Dodgers?

If the Dodgers pull the trigger on a deal with the San Diego Padres, they would be parting with one of the most electric performers in the system. While the Padres would jump at the chance to add Rushing to their young core, the Dodgers must weigh the long-term cost of losing his offensive ceiling.

Through just eight games, Rushing has put up video-game numbers, launching seven home runs in 27 at-bats with 13 RBIs. His production is exactly what any contender would want in the heart of their lineup, making him a difficult asset to surrender, even for an elite reliever.

The impact of adding Mason Miller

If the Dodgers decide the price is right, Miller would bring immediate stability to a reeling bullpen. Miller has been nearly untouchable to start the campaign, posting a 0.00 ERA with eight saves while consistently flirting with triple digits on the radar gun.

On paper, Miller’s dominance is exactly what L.A. needs to weather the loss of Diaz. The dilemma for the front office is whether they can afford to trade a cornerstone of their offensive future to a primary NL West rival in order to shore up the late innings.

Miguel Rojas reflected on his journey after reaching a major MLB milestone, delivering a standout performance in the Los Angeles Dodgers’ win and turning it into a memorable night at Coors Field.
The Los Angeles Dodgers delivered a dominant offensive performance in a 12-3 win over the Colorado Rockies, but the spotlight belonged to Miguel Rojas, who reached a major career milestone with his 1,000th MLB hit. In a game defined by production at the plate, Rojas’ achievement stood out as the emotional centerpiece of the night.

After the game, Rojas reflected on the significance of reaching the milestone at Coors Field, the same place where his Major League journey began. “This was the first clubhouse that I ever walked in as a Major Leaguer, and I got the opportunity to make my debut here with Clayton Kershaw on the mound,” he said according to MLB.com.

He also added, “I will never forget that moment when I got my first hit on a rainy day in Coors Field, and now I got the chance to say that I hit [No.] 1,000 here.” Rojas finished the night 3-for-3 with a home run, a sacrifice bunt, two RBIs, and a run scored, with his second hit marking the milestone.

The performance came as part of a broader offensive surge for Los Angeles, highlighted by a key lineup adjustment from manager Dave Roberts that immediately paid off. The milestone adds to a recent run of strong individual performances across the roster, including Shohei Ohtani extending his historic on-base streak.

Dodgers’ lineup change sparks offensive explosion

Dave Roberts’ decision to flip Max Muncy and Miguel Rojas in the batting order proved decisive, as both hitters delivered flawless nights at the plate. Muncy went 4-for-4 with two home runs, while Rojas added three hits and his first long ball of the season.

Rojas honors journey and family in milestone moment

Beyond the numbers, Rojas emphasized the personal meaning behind reaching 1,000 hits. “I was thinking about all the people that made sacrifices for me to be in this place,” Rojas said.

He added: “That’s why 1,000 hits for me means a lot, because I came here as a defensive replacement just to fill a spot. Not many people thought I was going to have an opportunity to play this long. I never let anybody put a ceiling on me.”

For the Dodgers, the night reinforced their offensive depth. For Rojas, it marked a milestone that symbolized perseverance, longevity, and a full-circle moment at one of baseball’s most iconic ballparks.

Dave Roberts pushed back on Craig Counsell after hearing his criticism of the Shohei Ohtani rule, making it clear the Los Angeles Dodgers manager sees nothing unfair about the advantage it provides.
Dave Roberts holds a significant advantage on his roster with Shohei Ohtani, given his ability to contribute both as a pitcher and a hitter. However, Craig Counsell has taken issue with that flexibility, particularly with the special rule tied to Ohtani, which he described as “bizarre.”

Roberts responded indirectly to Counsell’s comments, saying: “The thing is it certainly benefits us because we have the player… We’re more than willing for other teams to go out and find a player who can do both. He’s an exception because he’s an exceptional player. It is what it is.”

Roberts’ remarks were shared by Fabian Ardaya, who asked the Los Angeles Dodgers manager about Counsell’s earlier comments ahead of a game in Los Angeles. Counsell had not only labeled the “Ohtani rule” as bizarre, but also questioned his understanding of it, suggesting it creates a notable advantage for the Dodgers.

What Counsell said about the Ohtani rule

For Counsell, the rule gives teams like the Dodgers a unique edge when they have a player like Ohtani, allowing him to contribute both offensively and defensively under special conditions. However, the rule is not exclusive to Los Angeles, as any team can benefit from it if they roster a qualifying two-way player, such as Shota Imanaga for the Cubs.

Shohei Ohtani toes the rubber in the bullpen at Coors Field before his next start on Wednesday against the San Francisco Giants. pic.twitter.com/53fAp7rI4p
— Adrian Medina (@AdrianMedina_16) April 20, 2026

“I’ve never understood it,” Counsell said. “It’s an offensive rule, essentially. It’s a rule to help offense, more than anything, if you ask me. And then there’s one team that’s allowed to carry basically one of both, and he gets special consideration, which is probably the most bizarre rule. For one team.”

MLB’s two-way player rule allows versatile players like Ohtani to pitch and hit without taking up a traditional pitcher roster spot. To qualify, a player must log at least 20 innings pitched and appear in at least 20 games as a hitter with three or more plate appearances over the current or previous two seasons. This designation effectively gives teams added roster flexibility when deploying elite two-way talent.

The Los Angeles Dodgers are looking to build on a dominant start to the regular season, but a recent stumble against the Colorado Rockies has raised questions regarding Blake Treinen’s current form.
Following a dominant stretch to open the regular season, the Los Angeles Dodgers suffered a surprising setback in their series against the Colorado Rockies. Among the primary storylines following the loss was the uncharacteristic struggle of veteran reliever Blake Treinen.

Treinen met with the media post-game to address his outing, offering a candid assessment of a performance that allowed the Rockies to seize momentum. “I’m not going to dwell on one game… tomorrow is a new day,” Treinen noted, emphasizing the need to turn the page quickly.

While one poor outing isn’t cause for panic, it does present a hurdle for a bullpen that has been largely lights-out. Treinen’s season-long body of work remains stellar, but in the high-stakes environment of the NL West, even a single “off night” can lead to a localized skid if not corrected ahead of the upcoming road trip.

Even as Shohei Ohtani continued his historic campaign—extending his on-base streak despite the defeat—manager Dave Roberts now faces the task of getting his high-leverage arms back on track. For Roberts, the focus shifts to ensuring Treinen finds his rhythm before the leverage situations amplify.

Blake Treinen #49 of the Los Angeles Dodgers pitches.

Analyzing the Dodgers’ stumbling block in Colorado

Treinen’s late-inning struggles were the most visible issue, but they weren’t the sole reason the Dodgers failed to bounce back. A combination of missed opportunities with runners in scoring position and defensive lapses ultimately doomed Los Angeles in the altitude of Coors Field.

The Dodgers went 1-for-9 with runners in scoring position. Also, the excessive usage in the previous series appeared to catch up with the middle relief. Besides that, breaking balls lacked their usual bite, a common struggle in the thin Denver air.

Bouncing back at altitude

With a deep stable of arms at his disposal, Dave Roberts remains optimistic about a rebound. Expectation remains high for a rotation that has been the bedrock of the team’s success, and the Dodgers are looking to their starter to provide much-needed length to preserve a taxed bullpen.

After leaning on Blake Treinen, Emmet Sheehan, and Tyler Glasnow earlier in the set, the Dodgers will turn to Justin Wrobleski for Monday’s series finale against the Rockies. Los Angeles is looking to clinch the series on a high note, while Colorado counters with veteran southpaw Jose Quintana in the series’ closing act.

Shohei Ohtani continues to make history in MLB, wearing the colors of the Los Angeles Dodgers.
Although the Los Angeles Dodgers fell 4–3 to the Colorado Rockies, those at Coors Field witnessed another MLB milestone. What’s this story about? Shohei Ohtani extended his on-base streak to 50 consecutive games.

The Japanese star, in doing so, matched the achievement of “Wee” Willie Keeler, posting the third-longest streak in Dodgers history since 1900. Ohtani firmly etches his name into the franchise’s all-time history.

“I was hoping he’d get that last at-bat and give him an opportunity to change the game,” manager Dave Roberts said to the press. “And he found a way to get on base. It was good to see it, and that’s quite the streak. And you’ve got to be pretty dang good to do something like that. He’s in a class by himself.”

Dodgers nearly let the game slip away

The Colorado Rockies defeated the Los Angeles Dodgers on Saturday night. Despite early home runs from Kyle Tucker and Dalton Rushing that gave the Dodgers a 3-1 lead, Colorado’s bullpen shut them down for the final seven innings.

The game finally was decided in the sixth inning when Troy Johnston hit a clutch two-run double to put the Rockies ahead for good.

More records for Ohtani

Since joining the franchise, Shohei Ohtani has completely rewritten the Dodgers’ record books. He holds the single-season franchise record for home runs (55) and extra-base hits (99), and he famously became the first player in MLB history to achieve a 50/50 season (54 HRs and 59 SBs) in 2024.

Los Angeles Dodgers acquired pitcher Chayce McDermott from the Baltimore Orioles in a depth move after their New York Mets sweep, continuing their strategy of adding pitching upside.
The Los Angeles Dodgers continue to build depth even after early-season success, acquiring right-hander Chayce McDermott from the Baltimore Orioles in a low-profile trade following their series sweep of the New York Mets.

The deal sends 20-year-old prospect Axel Perez to Baltimore, signaling a long-term development move for both organizations. While not a headline-grabbing transaction, it reflects the Dodgers’ consistent strategy of adding arms with upside. McDermott, 27, was once a well-regarded prospect but has yet to establish himself at the major league level.

After Shohei Ohtani’s in-game tip helps Dalton Rushing, the Dodgers once again showed how their player‑development system can elevate talent in unexpected ways.

McDermott’s track record at the MLB level is limited. He made his debut with the Orioles in 2024 but struggled in his lone appearance before returning to the minors.

Chayce McDermott #59 with the Orioles pitches against the Yankees. Scott Taetsch/Getty Images

His time at Triple-A Norfolk has also been inconsistent, posting a 6.75 ERA across five outings this season. Despite those numbers, the Dodgers appear to see something worth developing, a common theme in their approach to roster building.

Orioles add young prospect in return

For the Orioles, the return centers on long-term upside. Perez, an international signing from the Dominican Republic, brings youth and projection despite limited experience.

He appeared in 10 games in the Dominican Summer League in 2025, finishing with a 5.48 ERA. While still early in his development, Baltimore gains a controllable arm who could grow within its system.

The trade may not shift the balance of power immediately, but for the Dodgers, it fits a familiar pattern, acquiring under-the-radar talent that could eventually contribute at a higher level.

In the Los Angeles Dodgers' commanding victory over the New York Mets, Shohei Ohtani once again served as the catalyst for an outstanding team performance.
The New York Mets were left searching for answers after being dismantled by the Los Angeles Dodgers in a 3-0 series sweep. While the Dodgers’ dominant performance was expected, it was Shohei Ohtani’s influence off the field that stole the headlines, specifically a prophetic pre-game exchange with teammate Dalton Rushing.

“Twenty minutes before first pitch, he said, ‘Hey, go hit a home run today.’ I said, ‘Alright Sho, I got you.’ Sure enough, it happened in my last at-bat,” Rushing told Dodgers Nation’s Doug McKain following the victory.

Rushing’s blast provided the exclamation point on a contest that was already well in hand, ending in an 8-2 rout. The young catcher didn’t just provide the fireworks; he turned in a massive box-score performance against the New York pitching staff. Finishing 2-for-4 with four RBIs and two runs scored, Rushing solidified himself as the standout performer in Wednesday’s finale.

While Edwin Diaz raised concerns for the Dodgers, the real story remains the sheer depth of the Los Angeles roster. Manager Dave Roberts continues to find production from every corner of the clubhouse, a luxury that has separated the Dodgers from the rest of the league early this season.

Dalton Rushing #68 of the Los Angeles Dodgers hits a double.

Is Ohtani pacing toward another MVP campaign?

Ohtani remains the perennial focal point of the MVP conversation. By continuing to redefine the boundaries of the sport, he has made it nearly impossible to discuss the greatest players in baseball history without mentioning his name first.

Currently, Ohtani is slashing .254/.402/.508 with a .910 OPS, figures that mirror his previous MVP-winning campaigns. Through 64 at-bats, he has tallied five home runs and 16 hits, proving to be the engine that drives the high-powered Dodgers offense.

Rushing’s historic start to the season

In just his second big-league season, Rushing is making a loud case for more playing time, launching four home runs in a mere 17 at-bats, trailing Ohtani by just one for the team lead. His early-season slash line of .529/.556/1.353 (1.908 OPS) with nine hits and seven runs scored is nothing short of historic for a reserve player.

Rushing’s breakout provides the Dodgers with a lethal offensive alternative in a lineup that is already among the most feared in the game. His confidence at the plate has turned him into a key asset for Roberts as the Dodgers continue their surge through the National League.

The New York Mets are currently mired in a regular-season skid, but manager Carlos Mendoza provided a silver lining, confirming that Clay Holmes will be available for the upcoming showdown against the Los Angeles Dodgers.
Ahead of Wednesday’s series finale against the Los Angeles Dodgers, New York Mets manager Carlos Mendoza confirmed that Clay Holmes will get the start as the Mets look to salvage a win against the reigning champions.

Following a successful bullpen session on Monday, Holmes reported no physical setbacks, prompting Mendoza to slot the veteran into the rotation for the finale against the Dodgers. It is a timely reinforcement for a Mets squad currently spiraling through a grueling seven-game losing streak.

Sitting at a dismal 7-11—a ‘convenience store’ record the front office surely didn’t envision—the franchise is desperate for a stopper. The pressure is mounting as superstar Juan Soto remains sidelined with an injury that could keep him out through the end of the month.

Despite a promising showing from two-way prospect Nolan McLean, who impressed in his outing against the Dodgers, the Mets have struggled to play complete games. Defensive lapses and inconsistent execution have plagued the club, with recent opponents like the Athletics exposing New York’s late-inning vulnerabilities.

Clay Holmes was removed from the game after he appeared to hurt himself after his last pitch pic.twitter.com/IyhZkOK7BZ
— Shea Station (@shea_station) April 11, 2026

The Holmes factor

While McLean’s upside is a bright spot, Holmes brings a veteran presence to a rotation in need of stability. The right-hander has been sharp in limited action this season, pitching to a stellar 1.50 ERA over 18.0 innings across three appearances.

His peripheral numbers are equally encouraging, having surrendered just one home run and 12 hits thus far. Holmes provides the Mets with a much-needed sense of security on the mound; however, his arm can only do so much for a stagnant offense that continues to leave runners stranded.

Offensive woes beyond Juan Soto’s absence

While Juan Soto’s absence creates a massive void in the heart of the order, his injury doesn’t fully account for the lack of production from the team’s healthy veterans. Several key contributors have yet to find their rhythm during this recent slide.

High-profile names like Francisco Lindor and Marcus Semien have underwhelmed, with both hovering just above the .200 mark. Meanwhile, Jorge Polanco’s transition to first base has been hampered by lingering Achilles tendinitis, leaving his performance well below the organization’s expectations.

The Mets must find a spark, and quickly. After a massive offseason spending spree, the fan base is growing restless, and the expectation of a deep postseason run is beginning to clash with the reality of a bottom-tier start in the NL East.
