Blake Harris recently tweeted that the Dodgers are looking at Ozunaif the universal DH will continue to apply for the 2021 MLBseason. While Ozuna is looking for a club that will commit to him for at least 4 seasons. In 2020 he played 39 of the shortened 60 game season as a DH.

The New York Yankees and Los Angeles Dodgers have reportedly made calls already to his agent and if the details could be finalized, Ozuna may be heading to the Bronx or Los Angeles any time soon. Ozuna earned $18 million in salary for his lone season in Atlanta in 2020.

Dominican Insider Claims 8 Teams Have Reached Out To Marcell Ozuna

And now, Dominican insider and MLB translator Mike Rodriguez recently reported that he’s already been contacted by 6 franchises, with the New York Yankees and Los Angeles Dodgers recently joining the race for his services:

“I’ve been informed that there are six teams that have officially reached out to Marcell Ozuna: New York Mets, Atlanta Braves, Toronto Blue Jays, Boston Red Sox, San Francisco Giants, and Washington Nationals. Also, last night, New York Yankees and Los Angeles Dodgers called him. He’s presumably looking for a 4-6 year deal #marcellozuna,” Rodriguez reported.

Perhaps Yankees and Dodgers don’t exactly need Ozuna due to their crowded outfields. Then again, the Bronx Bombers could use him as a DH, especially if they end up moving Miguel Andújar as some think will happen.

There’s no doubt that Ozuna’s timely hitting and power could come handily for many contending teams ahead of next season, but it doesn’t seem like he’s going to make his decision any time soon with that many offers sitting at his table, so we’ll have to wait and see how this story unfolds.

“It’s not that Ozuna can’t play left field, but this is why he really needs the DH rule to be added,” Schoenfield started. “Don’t rule out a return to the Braves even without the universal DH, but maybe the Red Sox fit here, even with Martinez signed for two more seasons. Ozuna can take left field for a couple of seasons (especially in left field, a la Manny Ramirez), with Alex Verdugo and a hopefully healthy Andrew Benintendi manning the other two outfield spots. If it’s a long-term contract, Ozuna moves to DH after 2022. Signing Ozuna doesn’t feel like a Chaim Bloom move, but if you’re buying his 2020 level he could put up some numbers mashing home runs over the Green Monster,” he concluded.

The Atlanta Braves are years ahead of the Boston Red Sox in terms of contention, and keeping Marcell Ozuna on board would be huge for them. His fit is questionable in Boston, but it’s clear that they need more firepower to get back to the top of the league.
