Marcell Ozuna is a wanted commodity as up to eight MLB teams are chasing him, but according to reports the Yankess and Dodgers have reportedly made calls for the big DH.
Marcell Ozuna signed a 1-year deal with the Atlanta Braves in 2020, and after a season which saw him hit 18 home runs, which lead the National League, 56 RBIs, and 145 total bases, reports are surfacing that eight teams are chasing him. The reports indicate that those teams are the Mets, Blue Jays, Yankees, Dodgers, Giants, Nationals, Red Sox, and the Braves. Ozuna ended the 2020 with a number of accolades including the Silver Slugger award, the first one since the universal DH rule was implemented league wide.

Blake Harris recently tweeted that the Dodgers are looking at Ozunaif the universal DH will continue to apply for the 2021 MLBseason. While Ozuna is looking for a club that will commit to him for at least 4 seasons. In 2020 he played 39 of the shortened 60 game season as a DH.

The New York Yankees and Los Angeles Dodgers have reportedly made calls already to his agent and if the details could be finalized, Ozuna may be heading to the Bronx or Los Angeles any time soon. Ozuna earned $18 million in salary for his lone season in Atlanta in 2020.

New York Yankees and Los Angeles Dodgers will join six other teams looking to sign former Atlanta Braves star Marcell Ozuna, according to a recent report.
It’s not a surprise to see that former Atlanta Braves star Marcell Ozuna is drawing a lot of interest in the offseason thus far, as he was one of the deadliest sluggers in Major League Baseball during the shortened season.

Ozuna led the National League in home runs (18) and runs batted in (56). Also, he had a batting average of .338 and an OPS of 1.067. Moreover, he slashed.362/.464/.691. in 179 at-bats as a designated hitter.

He’s coming off the best year of his career and even though he’s still expected to extend his stay with The Tribe, it’s only normal to see him exploring free agency and making the most of his opportunities.

Dominican Insider Claims 8 Teams Have Reached Out To Marcell Ozuna

And now, Dominican insider and MLB translator Mike Rodriguez recently reported that he’s already been contacted by 6 franchises, with the New York Yankees and Los Angeles Dodgers recently joining the race for his services:

“I’ve been informed that there are six teams that have officially reached out to Marcell Ozuna: New York Mets, Atlanta Braves, Toronto Blue Jays, Boston Red Sox, San Francisco Giants, and Washington Nationals. Also, last night, New York Yankees and Los Angeles Dodgers called him. He’s presumably looking for a 4-6 year deal #marcellozuna,” Rodriguez reported.

Perhaps Yankees and Dodgers don’t exactly need Ozuna due to their crowded outfields. Then again, the Bronx Bombers could use him as a DH, especially if they end up moving Miguel Andújar as some think will happen.

There’s no doubt that Ozuna’s timely hitting and power could come handily for many contending teams ahead of next season, but it doesn’t seem like he’s going to make his decision any time soon with that many offers sitting at his table, so we’ll have to wait and see how this story unfolds.

The Boston Red Sox are reportedly pretty close to sign former Atlanta Braves star Marcell Ozuna, according to multiple reports.
The Boston Red Sox quickly went from being one of the biggest contenders in the American League to not even making the playoffs in the shortened MLB season, so it’s clear that they need do something right now.

Boston let go of multiple stars, including Mookie Betts, and David Price. Obviously, that took a toll on their ability to compete at the highest level. Now, they’re trying to get back to contention without spending that much money.

That’s why, according to multiple reports, they’re trying to close in on a deal with former Atlanta Braves star Marcell Ozuna. However, they’ll need to keep the universal DH rule for that move to be more likely, according to ESPN’s DaveSchoenfield.

Marcell Ozuna Could Join The Red Sox If They Keep The Universal DH Rule

“It’s not that Ozuna can’t play left field, but this is why he really needs the DH rule to be added,” Schoenfield started. “Don’t rule out a return to the Braves even without the universal DH, but maybe the Red Sox fit here, even with Martinez signed for two more seasons. Ozuna can take left field for a couple of seasons (especially in left field, a la Manny Ramirez), with Alex Verdugo and a hopefully healthy Andrew Benintendi manning the other two outfield spots. If it’s a long-term contract, Ozuna moves to DH after 2022. Signing Ozuna doesn’t feel like a Chaim Bloom move, but if you’re buying his 2020 level he could put up some numbers mashing home runs over the Green Monster,” he concluded.

The Atlanta Braves are years ahead of the Boston Red Sox in terms of contention, and keeping Marcell Ozuna on board would be huge for them. His fit is questionable in Boston, but it’s clear that they need more firepower to get back to the top of the league.
