Mikel Arteta‘s side got off to a poorstart to the 2021-2022 campaign, suffering three defeats without scoring a goal in August. Arsenal, however, have been active in the summer transfer window.

They landed Ben White, Martin Odegaard, Aaron Ramsdale, Takehiro Tomiyasu, and Albert Sambi Lokonga. The latter one plays in the middle of the park, where the Gunners could have sold a player that might struggle to play regularly.

Galatasaray and Besiktas step down from negotiations for Arsenal substitute

According to talkSPORT, both Turkish giants were interested in landing Mohamed Elneny, who had a stint at Besiktas in 2019-2020 on loan. However, both negotiations reportedly broke down due to the Egyptian’s demands.

Elneny is understood to have asked for a four-year contract worth €10 million, requesting a €2.5 million salary per season. Therefore, Galatasaray would have pulled out as they found that figure to beexcessive.

The Egypt international, who wasn’t released for the September international break, is entering the final year of his contract in north London, which is why Arsenal would be open to cashing in for him before he leaves for free.

Even thoughArteta apparently counts on Elneny as hehas used him 41 times last season, the Gunners may want to sell him in January as he runs from behind of Thomas Partey, Granit Xhaka, and Lokonga for the starting position.
