Even though we're quite deep into the offseason and most of the stars have already been signed, there are still some very good pitchers looking to find a new team.

If history has taught us something is that you cannot perform at the highest level unless you have some stellar pitching. Even some MLB teams that struggle to get hits have won the World Series thanks to their aces on the mound.

It doesn’t matter how manyruns you can put up or how good your defense is. The sad and hard truth is that no team can win unless it has some solid and reliable arms in the rotation and the bullpen.

Nonetheless, for whatever reason, some of the best hurlers in Major League Baseball remain unsigned this deep into the offseason. That’s why today, we’re going to make a case for the best pitchers still available.

3. Zack Greinke

Even though he’s coming off a down year by his standards, the fact that Zack Greinke is still unsigned at this point in the winter is mind-boggling, to say the least. Especially considering he may not need a lot of money to join a contender.

Greinke has been one of the most consistent and steady contributors on the mound over the past decade or so. He’s better than most team’s fourth starter at the very least, so he should’ve gotten more interest in free agency.

2. Aroldis Chapman

It seemed like the Aroldis Chapman era with the New York Yankees was all but over. And now that Brian Cashman has yet to re-sign the Cuban Missile after all the deals they got done, that might as well be the case.

Chapman has struggled with control and consistency as of late, and some believe his days as a closer are numbered. But he’s still one of the best RPs of the past two decades and should get another shot to prove his worth.

Once again, Nathan Eovaldi was one of the few— if not the only— bright spots for the Boston Red Sox last season. He was efficient, consistent, and helped them stay in games even when their offense couldn’t get the job done.

But, considering how Chaim Bloom has handled his payroll over the past couple of years, a return to Fenway Park just doesn’t seem realistic at this point. Needless to say, multiple teams could and should be interested in his services.

With the trade deadline zooming in, the Boston Red Sox could find themselves to be sellers and lose several of their stars. Here, we let you know the bigger names they could get rid of.

The Boston Red Sox didn’t get off to the best start to the season. After being one of the most active teams during Major League Baseball’s eventful offseason, Alex Cora hoped to keep up with the rest of AL East contenders.

But the Red Sox refused to caveearly in the season. They fought hard and bounced back to become one of the best teams in the league before the All-Star break. Unfortunately, they’re still behind in the race for the divisional pennant.

So, the next couple of weeks will be critical for the Red Sox. A slump could turn them into sellers ahead of the trade deadline and force Chaim Bloom to make some difficultdecisions. So, here, we let you know about three stars that could be on their way out of the team.

Xander Bogaerts embraced a leadership role in the clubhouse after Mookie Betts left. He’s a fan favorite and one of the best shortstops in the game, so watching him gowould sure be a big blow for them. But they may not have a choice.

Bogaerts has turned down multiple contract extensions. He’s been on team-friendly deals for most of his career and wants to get paid now. So, the Red Sox could find him a new home if they feel like he’ll opt out of his contract in the offseason.

2. Nathan Eovaldi

Nathan Eovaldi has been one of the most consistent players in their rotation. He’s found plenty of success at Fenway Park and has been their ace with Chris Sale constantly on the Injured List.

But Eovaldi will become a free agent at the end of the season. So, if the Red Sox fail to prove that they can contend soon, their chances of keeping him in the winter are pretty slim. Multiple contenders would look to add another reliable arm to their team, so he’d fetch a nice return.

J.D. Martinez is on a similar situation. He’s the best hitter on the team by a long stretch, and the universal DH spot only makes him a more valuable asset. However, he’s set to become a free agent, and the Red Sox may not be willing to meet his asking price.

Chaim Bloom has done several salary-dumping moves, and the team has shownhesitancy to spend big. So, even despite his below-average defense, multiple teams should look to add the veteran slugger as they make a postseason push.
