The New York Giants are serious about starting a new era of their organization, and they continue to prove it time and again. This time around, they've ended a preseason "ritual" with the New York Jets.
The New York Giants and New York Jets will be headed their separate ways ahead of the 2026 NFL season. Perhaps, the latest decision in East Rutherford is aligned with the Giants’ creation of an area as the organization makes changes to start the John Harbaugh era.

As reported by Paul Schwartz of the New York Post, the Giants will hold only one joint practice during the preseason, and it will be with the Miami Dolphins. Although the two New Jersey-based teams will meet in Week 3 of the preseason, the Jets and Giants will not practice together.

It’s quite surprising considering the two organizations had held at least one joint practice before their preseason matchup in recent years. It had become a tradition in East Rutherford. Harbaugh and company are determined to wipe the slate clean and get a fresh start, and moving on from this ritual may be another sign of that.

Giants will be in and out of town

According to Dan Duggan of The Athletic, the Giants will be away from East Rutherford to begin training camp. The G-Men will spend the first 12 days of training camp in West Virginia. Moreover, they will travel to South Florida for their joint practice with the Dolphins.

Head coach John Harbaugh.

Per Duggan, camp in the Mountain State will begin on July 28. The fact that the 2026 FIFA World Cup Final will be held at MetLife Stadium on July 19 may be a factor in why the Giants will not spend much time at their own facilities in the outskirts of the Big Apple.

NY Giants’ preseason schedule

On August 15, the Giants will host the Minnesota Vikings at MetLife Stadium in the opening week of the 2026 NFL preseason. The following week, they will travel to face the Miami Dolphins at Hard Rock Stadium. The G-Men will close out their prep for the regular season with the matchup against the Jets on Aug. 28.

Although the game will be played in East Rutherford, the Giants will be designated as the away team. Following their three preseason games, the G-Men will head into the final week of preseason before their regular-season opener against the Dallas Cowboys on Sunday Night Football at MetLife Stadium.

Robert Saleh and Brian Daboll from the Tennessee Titans will have shots at redemption very early on in the 2026 NFL season, as they face the New York Jets and the New York Giants within the first month of action.
The Tennessee Titans will open the season against the New York Jets in MetLife Stadium. The team will also visit that same venue a couple of weeks later when it visits the New York Giants, marking two revenge games for new head coach Robert Saleh, and offensive coordinator Brian Daboll.

The opener vs. the Jets was reported by Jordan Schultz. Robert Saleh was the Jets HC from 2021 to 2024. This is Saleh’s first chance at a head coaching position ever since, so it will be a bad blood opener game for the Titans.

Not only that, but the Titans have some former Jets players. Tony Adams, Jermaine Johnson, John Franklin-Myers, Solomon Thomas, and Jacob Martin are all defensive players that are now on the Titans that played for Saleh’s Jets.

Week 3 presents a revenge game for OC Brian Daboll

The Week 3 game for the Titans is a revenge game also at New Jersey. This time against the Giants, the last place where now-Titans OC Brian Daboll coached. He was fired in the middle of last season by the G-Men, so Daboll would love to put an offensive clinic on his former team.

.@Titans HC Robert Saleh and OC Brian Daboll chat during rookie minicamp. pic.twitter.com/X9P9djLl7e
— Jim Wyatt (@jwyattsports) May 1, 2026

Just with Saleh bringing fromer Jets players, Daboll has gone and poached some of his former Giants weapons. Wideout Wan’Dale Robinson, tight end Daniel Bellinger, and center/guard Austin Schlottman now play for Daboll on the Titans. All will be keen on showing the Giants what they are now missing.

Wins against NY Jets and NY Giants could be great for Titans

When considering expectations, the Titans might be in the middle between the Jets’ low expectations, and the Giants’ promising ways. Hence, beating the Jets could be actually an obligation for the Titans, although the game will be on the always-tricky Week 1.

If the Titans manage to beat the Giants, that’s a statement. A team that will be able to beat mid-to-high tier teams and that could be racing for a playoff spot. The first month will be key for the Titans.

After the rookie minicamp, the New York Jets decided to sign linebacker Jaden Keller to the dismay of linebacker Ochaun Mathis, who got waived.
The New York Jets saw enough of Jaden Keller during the rookie minicamp to sign him to the roster. However, another linebacker suffered the consequences as in a corresponding move, they waived Ochaun Mathis.

Keller was one of 31 rookie free agents who participated in the Jets rookie minicamp. He was a playmaker at Virginia Tech as he totaled 181 tackles, 7.5 tackles for loss, 1.5 sacks, two forced fumbles and two fumble recoveries.

As per the waived Mathis, he was a sixth-round pick of the Rams in 2023, but he ended up on the Jets practice squad. While he played 14 games for the Rams, Patriots, and Eagles, he is now a free agent once again.

NY Jets updated LB depth chart

The Jets have a lot of experienced players on their linebacker roster, but also quite a healthy amount of young players. Jamien Sherwood and DeMario Davis are the projected starters.

another day at the office @demario__davis pic.twitter.com/xEpHyrMpS0
— New York Jets (@nyjets) May 5, 2026

Marcelino McCrary-Ball, Kiko Mauigoa, Kobe King, Mykal Walker, and now Jaden Keller fill the spots. The Jets were one of the worst defenses in the NFL last year with a defensive-minded head coach. Hence, all cards are on the table for this unit.

The Jets hope new names could be the turning the franchise’s fortunes

New names like Davis, first-rounder David Bailey, David Onyemata, and Joseph Ossai could very well be the new hope for this front seven. However, that wasn’t the only side of the defense that was bolstered.

The Jets brought in Nahshon Wright at cornerback, strong safety Minkah Fitzpatrick, Dane Belton, and VJ Payne, the rookie. Also, second-rounder D’Angelo Ponds could be an instant starter at nickelback.

Cade Klubnik doesn't care about his draft position, he wants to lead the New York Jets with his winning mentality.
During the 2025 season, the stocks on then-Clemson quarterback Cade Klubnik were too high. He then struggled with inconsistencies and some injuries that made him fall all the way to the fourth round in the NFL Draft, where he was selected by the New York Jets.

However, Klubnik couldn’t care less about his draft position. Per Rich Cimini of ESPN, Klubnik said “In my mind, I’m a winner. I don’t mean that in a boastful way. I think that’s the mentality you have to have as a quarterback, and I think that my résumé has kind of showed that as well.”

Now, his 2025 season with Clemson wasn’t precisely filled with winning, the Tigers ended with a 7-6 record. Still, for the Jets, it’s good to see Klubnik have that mentality. In 2025, he dealt with ankle and wrist injuries.

Klubnik has somewhat of a good scenario to start his NFL career

The fact that he fell into the fourth round means the expectations are not that high. The pressure is also lower and, he will get to sit back and learn from veteran Geno Smith. However, this is a two-side advantage for Klubnik.

Confidence: Jets OC Frank Reich says that new starting QB Geno Smith is the “perfect fit” for his offense.

“I think his best football’s ahead of him.”

New York will surprise everyone this season.pic.twitter.com/N3DvTq2f3V
— Dov Kleiman (@NFL_DovKleiman) May 6, 2026

Geno Smith is a veteran who will surely teach Klubnik the ropes of the NFL. However, Smith comes off a very bad year with the Raiders, which means the Jets could perfectly see him as a bridge QB, and if Klubnik impresses, he could fight for the starting job in no time.

Klubnik’s pros and cons

When fully healthy, Klubnik has huge athleticism and mobility, he can use his legs to escape pressure. He also has a quick release of the football, a rapid motion to sling the ball. His arm is pretty good and has good awareness.

However, his decision-making could improve, as sometimes he does mind-boggling plays. He can be forced into bad throws if he faces pressure. Also, he is a bit undersized for a pocket passer, as he is just 6’2″ and of course, he brings some injury concerns.

Breece Hall shares emotional message after NY Jets give him contract extension

https://bolavip.com/en/nfl/breece-hall-shares-emotional-message-after-ny-jets-confirm-massive-contract-extension-for-star-rb

Breece Hall once looked like a possible trade candidate for the Jets, but after an emotional contract extension announcement, the star running back is now firmly at the center of New York's future plans.
Breece Hall delivered an emotional response after officially securing a massive contract extension with the New York Jets, a moment that clearly carried far more meaning than just financial security for the star running back. It’s a three-year, $45.75 million deal.

Shortly after the news became public, Hall shared a heartfelt message reflecting on everything he has overcome since suffering a devastating ACL injury earlier in his career. “Cried for the first time since I tore my ACL. This day really hit different for me man.”

The message resonated strongly with Jets fans because Hall’s future with the organization once appeared far from certain. Throughout last season, the running back was repeatedly mentioned in trade rumors as New York evaluated major roster changes during a difficult stretch.

Jets made Breece Hall a priority despite major roster changes

At one point before the trade deadline, Breece Hall reportedly came very close to being moved to the Kansas City Chiefs, fueling speculation that the Jets could begin a deeper rebuild centered around younger assets and draft capital.

Instead, they ultimately chose a different direction. While the Jets moved on from major names like Quinnen Williams and Sauce Gardner Johnson, Hall remained untouchable internally and gradually became one of the central pieces of the franchise’s long-term vision.

Now, the contract extension sends the clearest message yet about his role moving forward. Under Aaron Glenn, Hall is expected to become one of the offensive foundations of the rebuilding process as the Jets attempt to construct a younger, faster and more explosive identity heading into 2026.

For Hall personally, the moment also represents validation after years of adversity, recovery and uncertainty. What once looked like a career threatened by injury has now transformed into a long-term commitment from a franchise betting heavily on his future.

The Jets are building one of their most intriguing offenses in years after locking up Breece Hall long term.
The New York Jets have officially doubled down on their offensive core for the 2026 season after confirming a major contract extension for running back Breece Hall.

Hall’s extension also sends a clear message about the direction of the organization. After years of offensive inconsistency, the Jets appear determined to surround veteran quarterback Geno Smith with dynamic playmakers capable of competing immediately in a loaded AFC.

The projected 2026 offense now features an intriguing mix of proven talent and young upside. Geno Smith leads the unit at quarterback, while Hall remains the focal point of the backfield. At receiver, Garrett Wilson headlines a group that also includes Omar Cooper Jr. and AD Mitchell, giving the Jets significantly more speed and versatility than in previous seasons. Kenyon Sadiq and Mason Taylor are the tight ends.

How much money is Breece Hall making with Jets in salary?

Breece Hall’s new extension is a three-year contract worth $45.75 million, averaging $15.25 million per season. The deal firmly places him among the most important offensive investments on the roster moving forward.

For the Jets, the financial commitment reflects Hall’s importance not only as a runner, but also as one of the offense’s most versatile weapons. His ability to also impact the passing game and create explosive plays makes him a critical piece for a team trying to maximize Geno Smith’s final competitive window.

Combined with Wilson and the revamped receiver group, the Jets suddenly have the look of a far more balanced offense capable of putting pressure on opposing defenses in multiple ways.

If the offensive line holds up and Smith delivers steady quarterback play, the Jets may finally have enough offensive firepower to emerge as a legitimate threat during the 2026 season.

NY Jets reset the market: How Breece Hall’s new contract stacks up behind Saquon Barkley and CMC

https://bolavip.com/en/nfl/ny-jets-reset-the-market-how-breece-halls-new-contract-stacks-up-behind-saquon-barkley-and-cmc

Although Breece Hall was expected to play the 2026 season under the franchise tag, the New York Jets have instead secured him with a contract extension that makes him one of the highest-paid running backs in the NFL.
Breece Hall is getting paid. Although he was set to play the 2026 season under the franchise tag, the New York Jets opted to give him a contract extension, resetting the RB market and making him one of the three highest-paid players at his position.

In March, the Jets informed Breece Hall that they planned to use the $14.293 million franchise tag on him for 2026. Two months later, the club reconsidered and offered him a long-term extension instead.

On Friday, the Jets signed Hall to a three-year, $45.75 million extension. This deal will pay him an average annual salary of $15.25 million, placing him behind only Saquon Barkley and Christian McCaffrey on the list of the league’s highest-paid running backs.

How Breece Hall’s extension resets the RB market

A few weeks ago, Breece Hall spoke out about the Jets placing the franchise tag on him. Today, his words seem to have had an impact, as the club decided to give him the extension he was desperately seeking.

Hall is an outstanding running back, yet many believe this extension exceeds what he was expected to earn. He is now a top-three highest-paid running back, which sets high expectations for his performance with the Jets.

This extension is set to have a ripple effect across the league. Jonathan Taylor of the Colts is entering the final year of the three-year extension he signed in 2023; with Hall’s new deal, he has a new standard to aim for in his next contract.

The Jets have a solid offense for 2026

By securing Breece Hall for 2026 and beyond, the Jets’ outlook looks promising. They have Geno Smith as QB1, and the pieces surrounding the veteran indicate that New York could be a dark horse this season.

Despite interest from the New York Jets, former New York Giants player Russell Wilson is still considering what he will do with his NFL career.
Russell Wilson is still evaluating all of his options following his stint with the New York Giants. While his NFL career could continue with the New York Jets, the veteran quarterback is also not ruling out a role in television.

“They offered me (Jets), and I’m trying to figure out what the next best thing is for me to do. I still know I can play ball at a high level, but I also have an opportunity to do TV,” Wilson said via The New York Post.

Wilson made $10.5 million last season with the Giants, a team that ultimately ended up using Jaxson Dart more, and even Jameis Winston at times. An 0–3 start was enough for him to be benched very early in the season.

Now, the veteran quarterback has several options for the next stage of his career: staying in New York but switching sides, or taking on a new role that would take him away from the week-to-week pressure. What path will the former Super Bowl champion ultimately choose?

Russell Wilson tells The Post he’s mulling the Jets' contract offer as TV networks offer him

Read more from the Exclusive ➡️ https://t.co/LvyYh58kBA pic.twitter.com/rKbr4rPjzo
— New York Post Sports (@nypostsports) May 6, 2026

The QB room for Aaron Glenn’s Jets

The New York Jets enter the 2026 season with a revitalized quarterback room that balances veteran leadership with high-upside youth. The unit is headlined by Geno Smith, who provides a steady, experienced hand to lead the offense, alongside veteran Bailey Zappe, known for his readiness to step in as a reliable depth option.

Adding a surge of excitement to the roster are Cade Klubnik and Brady Cook, both of whom are expected to compete for meaningful snaps as the franchise looks toward its long-term future under center.

Jets trust Geno Smith

Amid uncertainty surrounding Russell Wilson following his unsuccessful stint with the Giants, the Jets are pleased with Geno Smith and trust what the veteran can bring them in the upcoming season.

“I’d not met Geno before here and I’m kind of glad because I’m even more impressed with him now meeting him in person. I feel his resilience, his toughness,” Offensive Coordinator Frank Reich revealed to the press.

Following Mike Tomlin’s transition to television, Russell Wilson is reportedly considering a career as a football analyst too, even as the New York Jets have expressed interest in him for their QB2 role.
Russell Wilson is no longer regarded as a starting quarterback. While the New York Jets are interested in signing him as Geno Smith’s backup, he may instead decide to retire and work in television.

Recent reports confirm that Mike Tomlin has joined NBC as a football analyst for Football Night in America. The former Pittsburgh Steelers coach chose to step away from the sidelines while remaining connected to the sport through the media.

A similar transition could be in store for Russell Wilson. Although the Jets are interested in keeping him in New York following his exit from the Giants, a television offer may be more attractive for the Super Bowl XLVIII champion.

Report: Russell Wilson could stay in New York, but for CBS

According to rumors, Russell Wilson prefers to stay in New York, with the Jets really interested in him as QB2. However, it may no longer be as a player, but as a top NFL analyst for CBS.

Andrew Marchand of The Athletic reports that Wilson is in “deep discussions” regarding a broadcasting role. CBS’s studio is located in Manhattan, making it a perfect logistical fit.

The opening at CBS follows Matt Ryan’s departure from The NFL Today to join the Atlanta Falcons as President of Football Operations. This has created a high-profile vacancy that Wilson is a strong candidate to fill.

Is the Jets’ door closed for Russell Wilson?

Not necessarily. Wilson remains a primary candidate to back up Geno Smith for the Jets. However, the prospect of sitting behind the man who was once his own backup in Seattle may not appeal to “DangeRuss.”

Wilson is no longer viewed as a reliable starter, and his options for such a role are minimal. After a difficult year with the Giants, stepping aside to preserve his legacy as an analyst may be his best move.

After his stint with the New York Giants, former Super Bowl champion Russell Wilson could potentially join the ranks of the New York Jets.
Russell Wilson arrived at the New York Giants with all the credentials, aiming to reach another Super Bowl. However, his performance didn’t live up to expectations, and now his future could remain in the Big Apple—this time with the New York Jets.

According to journalist Ari Meirov on X, the quarterback was at the Jets’ facilities, which opens the door to a potential move to Aaron Glenn’s team. Wilson became a free agent following his last season with the G-Men.

It’s also worth noting that the veteran once shared a locker room with Geno Smith on the Seattle Seahawks. Could they be reunited again, this time in the AFC East?

A frustrated spell in New York

Russell Wilson’s tenure with the New York Giants in 2025 was a disappointing chapter for the veteran, as he was quickly sidelined in favor of rookie Jaxson Dart. After signing a one-year deal, Wilson appeared in only 6 games, finishing the season with 831 passing yards, 3 touchdowns, and 3 interceptions.

Russell Wilson #3.

His campaign started as the starter but spiraled after a rough Week 1 and a Week 3 demotion, despite a “throwback” Week 2 performance against the Cowboys where he threw for 450 yards while playing through a hamstring injury. With a mediocre 77.4 passer rating and a completion percentage of just 58.0%, Wilson ultimately plummeted to the No. 3 spot on the depth chart, leaving him as an unsigned free agent heading into the 2026 season.

Wilson’s Super Bowl pedigree

In Super Bowl XLVIII, Russell Wilson led the Seattle Seahawks to a dominant 43-8 victory over the Denver Broncos. Delivering a remarkably efficient performance, Wilson completed 18 of 25 passes (72%) for 206 yards and 2 touchdowns with zero interceptions, earning a stellar 123.1 passer rating. This victory made him one of the youngest quarterbacks to ever win a ring and secured the first championship in Seahawks franchise history.

Do the Jets need another quarterback?

Entering his second year as the New York Jets head coach in 2026, Aaron Glenn has completely overhauled his quarterback room to provide offensive coordinator Frank Reich with both veteran stability and future potential. After a rough 3-14 debut season, Glenn and GM Darren Mougey made a bold move to bring back a familiar face, deciding to trust Geno Smith as their QB1 following his arrival from the Raiders in free agency.

To secure the long-term future, the Jets also traded up in the 2026 Draft to select Clemson’s Cade Klubnik, an athletic “winner” who Glenn intends to develop behind Smith. This duo, supplemented by veteran depth, represents a significant shift for a franchise desperate to exit the AFC East cellar and finally capitalize on their recent influx of first-round talent.

Geno Smith joined the New York Jets this past offseason, although the selection of Cade Klubnik in the draft puts pressure on the starting quarterback role.
The New York Jets made a major shift in their quarterback room following the arrival of Geno Smith this past offseason. While Aaron Glenn has stated he came in to be the starter, his position must be defended week by week, as he will face strong internal competition from Cade Klubnik.

“We brought in Geno to be our starter. I’m not going to put a cap on him on how many years he can play,” the head coach said during the press conference. “…But obviously in this league, you gotta have a system where are backups and guys that are pushing the starter, you always wanna create this type of competition.“

He also added: “Listen, I’m not gonna say when Cade is going to play. The thing is those guys are going out there and compete. So, right now I like the room.”

Smith and Klubnik are the main faces of a quarterback room that also includes Brady Cook and Bailey Zappe. Who will ultimately take the reins of this team throughout the season?

Head coach Aaron Glenn of the New York Jets.

Geno Smith’s experience or Cade Klubnik’s youth

The choice between Geno Smith and Cade Klubnik represents a classic veteran-versus-prospect dilemma for the New York Jets. Coming off a season with the Raiders where he recorded 3,025 passing yards, 19 touchdowns, and 17 interceptions, Smith offers the steady hand and seasoned leadership needed to navigate Frank Reich’s offensive system immediately.

In contrast, Cade Klubnik arrives as a high-upside project following a 2025 campaign at Clemson where he threw for 2,943 yards with 16 touchdowns and 6 interceptions, showcasing a dual-threat capability that Smith currently lacks.

For the Jets, a hybrid approach serves them best. While Smith provides the veteran experience necessary to keep the team competitive in the short term, Klubnik represents the long-term future at a low cost. Utilizing Smith as the starter allows Klubnik the essential time to refine his decision-making and adjust to the speed of the NFL without being thrown into the fire prematurely.

What will happen with Breece Hall?

After the draft, most teams will now focus on retaining key stars. While the New York Jets placed the franchise tag on Breece Hall, they have until July 15 to negotiate a long-term contract, something Darren Mougey aims to resolve soon.

“I have a list of things to get to next week, that being one of them. … I anticipate kind of turning my attention to Breece and that contract situation,” the general manager revealed to the press.

Hall has recorded three consecutive seasons surpassing 1,000 total yards, establishing himself as the centerpiece of the offense. Because of this, he is projected to earn $14.3 million (fully guaranteed) for the 2026 season. This figure would automatically place him among the five highest-paid running backs in the league.
