If they manage to work out a trade for the 24-year-old wideout, and the G-Men indeed reunite with Odell, then it could be a summer of splashes in the WR room for both New York—or rather, New Jersey–based—franchises.

For the Jets, addressing the wide receiver room is an absolute must. Last season, Gang Green finished the year with the fewest receiving yards in the league (2,784) and the fourth-fewest receptions (298). As for the other team that calls MetLife Stadium home in the NFL, the Giants set conditions for Beckham Jr.’s return, and could really benefit from a reunion.

Wicks could be good fit for NY Jets

Head coach Aaron Glenn recently said he believes sophomore tight end Mason Taylor is set to have a breakout year in the 2026 NFL campaign. That would ease some of the Jets’ concerns, but the wideouts still need to raise the bar. Garrett Wilson has been too inconsistent, and the lack of a secondary target means the Ohio State alum draws all the attention from opposing secondaries and can be neutralized.

Wilson, and the Jets, could truly benefit from a talent like Wicks, who may arrive with a chip on his shoulder, as he feels he is underutilized in Green Bay. If the Jets want to climb out of the hole they are in, they could definitely use players who feel they have something to prove and will step onto the gridiron playing like rent’s due.

Wicks is entering the final season of his four-year entry-level contract with the Green Bay Packers. His name has recently gained traction in the NFL rumor mill, as the Cheeseheads are fairly set at the wide receiver position and could use Wicks as a trade chip.

According to Spotrac, Wicks’ contract will carry roughly a $3.75 million cap hit in 2026. That’s a number the Jets can certainly accommodate. It’s a suitable price to pay for Glenn to address a key issue before the Jets reconvene in the offseason at Florham Park.

Jordan Raanan offered a brief update that reinforced the idea that Beckham initiated the meeting himself rather than the Giants actively pursuing him. “As Dan noted, Odell Beckham came by the hotel yesterday. He lives out in Arizona. It was a move driven by him. Nothing is imminent at this time.”

The update suggests that while Beckham is clearly interested in returning, the Giants are not yet moving toward a deal. Instead, the situation remains exploratory, with New York likely waiting before deciding whether to bring the veteran receiver in for a workout.

However, the biggest obstacle appears to be Tennessee at No. 4 overall, who have been linked to Love as a potential selection. If the Titans pulls the trigger, the Giants may never get the opportunity to add the dynamic running back.

There is also the possibility of another team trading up the board to secure Love. Rumored candidates include the Kansas City Chiefs, the Washington Commanders, and even the Dallas Cowboys, all of whom could look to make an aggressive move if the prospect begins to slide.

However, according to Matt Miller, the Tennessee Titans could select Love at No. 4 overall, potentially taking him off the board before the Giants get their chance in Pittsburgh .

Giants could sign Odell Beckham Jr.

As for the Giants, they haven’t had a face of the franchise quite like Beckham Jr. ever since he was traded to Cleveland. If healthy, Beckham Jr. could provide a big boost to the G-Men’s passing offense. That’s a big if, though, as Odell’s last NFL outing came in December 2024.

New York needs to address WR core

Malik Nabers is the clear-cut WR1 for New York. However, the fellow LSU graduate is coming off a season-ending torn ACL and meniscus injury during the 2025 NFL season. How he returns from such a setback is uncertain, and the Giants really don’t have much strategic depth to fall back on if Nabers misses time or is off his game in 2026.

A 34-year-old Beckham Jr. is far from a reliable No. 1 option for Jaxson Dart, but his presence could draw attention from defenses and help another wideout blossom into a larger role. Still, it’s all too speculative for the Giants to be fully convinced.

Giants can’t overpay for “OBJ”

If Beckham Jr. is serious about returning to MetLife Stadium, and New York buys into the hype, then the wide receiver must prove his commitment by accepting a team-friendly deal. Otherwise, there aren’t many pros for New York in acquiring “OBJ”—aside from an obvious marketing and jersey sales standpoint.

As of August 2025, Forbes ranks the Giants third among the NFL’s most valuable teams. Thus, it’s not like the G-Men are pinching pennies and need a household name like Beckham Jr. to make ends meet.

Still, the offense is in need of a spark. If not Odell, Big Blue needs to address its struggles in the passing game. Or perhaps Harbaugh is content with the receiving corps featuring the likes of Nabers, Darnell Mooney, and Darius Slayton.
