“WR Terry McLaurin will be active today. Likely not a full go but suited up and ready to play against the Giants,” Mike Garafolo of ESPN reported on his X account.

The Giants have both starting cornerbacks, Greg Newsome and Deonte Banks, fully healthy and active, so if McLaurin couldn’t play, it could’ve been disastrous for Daniels upon his return to NFL action. Considering there are question marks around Daniels’ left elbow, McLaurin not being at 100 per cent, either, is far from ideal for the, still undefeated at home, 1-3 Commanders.

McLaurin’s game log

McLaurin missed Week 4 of the 2026 NFL campaign when the Commanders fell to the Indianapolis Colts in London, but he will be back in action in Week 5. All week long, it was reported his role would be a true game-time decision for Washington upon return to Landover, Maryland, and it was. According to reports, McLaurin will be in for a limited role even though he’s been cleared to play.

“Even if [McLaurin] does play today, expect his snaps to be limited. Dan Quinn said the wet field and rainy conditions won’t be a factor in the decision,” as reported by Mike Garafolo on his X account.

Commanders’ WR depth chart

Whether McLaurin suited up or not for the Commanders, it’s clear the home team would face a steep climb at home in rainy conditions. The same conditions in which New York has won two games in a row after losing Jaxson Dart to injury in Week 2.

Stefon Diggs has been ruled out for Week 5 with a hamstring injury, further complicating things. With ‘Scary Terry’ activated, the WR depth chart for Dan Quinn’s offense includes: McLaurin, Treylon Burks, Dyami Brown, and Luke McCaffrey. If McLaurin couldn’t play, Washington would have had a limited, three-man wide receivers’ room to face the Giants.

Key takeaways

• Terry McLaurin is active, but could play in a limited capacity in Week 5 against New York.
• Jayden Daniels left elbow concerns exist alongside weather challenges in Washington’s return home.
• Stefon Diggs is ruled out for Week 5 with a hamstring injury.

According to information released by the NFL’s official website, a groin injury is the main reason Allen will not be alongside his teammates. Undoubtedly, this is a significant loss for Daniel Jones’ passing attack.

For the Commanders, McLaurin’s presence has also been ruled out. A hamstring injury he recently suffered during last week’s practice ultimately sidelines him for this important game.

Keenan Allen’s numbers so far this season

Keenan Allen’s start with Indianapolis in this 2026 NFL season has been pretty modest so far, pulling in 13 receptions for 100 receiving yards and a single touchdown across his first three games before going down. Now, with Allen sidelined on injured reserve, the Colts find themselves shuffling their target hierarchy big time: Laquon Treadwell and Josh Downs are set to step up as the primary WR1 options to keep the aerial attack moving.

McLaurin’s impact on the Commanders

Terry McLaurin‘s early 2026 run with the Commanders has been steady if a bit quiet, hauling in 10 catches for 141 receiving yards and a touchdown across his first three games. While those numbers might not jump off the stat sheet just yet, Scary Terry remains the focal point and undisputed leader of Washington’s passing game.

His ability to stretch the field with a solid 14.1 yards per catch keeps opposing defenses honest, opening up crucial space underneath for the rest of the offense and giving the Commanders a reliable big-play threat whenever they need a spark.

Key takeaways

• Keenan Allen is out due to a groin injury after recording 13 receptions.
• Terry McLaurin is also out for kickoff because of a hamstring injury.
• Tottenham Hotspur Stadium in London hosts the 2026 NFL game between Indianapolis and Washington.

The Commanders have been active on the running back market, including Rachaad White. However, according to John Keim of ESPN, the Commanders are eager to add a solid wide receiver to their roster. And while that can complement Terry McLaurin, it could also mean other things.

McLaurin was paid handsomely last year, and he still missed seven games last year and only made 582 yards. McLaurin is also north of 30 years, so the confidence might not be as high on him.

Who is WR2 right now?

As of now, Luke McCaffrey is the second wideout in the Commanders. McCaffrey did have some good outings in the NFL last season, but he had just 203 yards and three touchdowns. While he showed glimpses, it’s a big ask to put him as a WR2 all of a sudden.

McCaffrey is also a slot receiver. Hence, there is a big hole on one of the sides of the fields. That space is now task of Treylon Burks, who hasn’t lived up to his high draft pick in the first round back in 2022.

The Commanders need to bounce back

The Commanders appeared in the NFC Championship game back in 2024. In 2025, they just got five wins. Now, the team has two new coordinators and has done plenty of moves this season.

Injuries have hit the Commanders hard this season. Not only is Jayden Daniels still sidelined with an elbow injury, but star wide receiver Terry McLaurin remains out due to a quad issue.

McLaurin won’t play in Week 11 when the Commanders face the Miami Dolphins in Madrid, Spain. As a result, the team has signed not one but two new wide receivers to strengthen Mariota’s offense.

Who are the new wide receivers for the Commanders in Week 11?

Terry McLaurin has long been the Commanders’ top receiving threat. Unfortunately, he’s struggled to stay healthy this year, appearing in only four games so far.

The offense has dealt with injuries all season, and McLaurin’s absence has had a significant impact on their production. To address the lack of depth, the Commanders decided to reinforce the position ahead of their overseas matchup.

Before traveling to Spain, Washington promoted Robbie Chosen and Jacoby Jones from the practice squad to the active roster. Chosen has already appeared in two games this year, catching five passes for 53 yards, while Jones has yet to make an appearance this season.

When will Terry McLaurin return?

The Commanders will get a bye week following their Week 11 game in Spain. According to reports, Terry McLaurin could return for the final six games of the regular season.

In Week 13, Washington will host the Denver Broncos. While Jayden Daniels may still be unavailable, the possible return of McLaurin would provide a huge boost to an offense that has struggled to stay consistent.

One of head coach Dan Quinn’s main concerns was whether he could count on two of his top receivers for this crucial game. Ultimately, according to the official Washington Commanders’ website, Terry McLaurin and Deebo Samuel are both cleared and will be active for tonight’s matchup.

“Wide receivers Terry McLaurin and Deebo Samuel will both be active for the Washington Commanders’ game against the Kansas City Chiefs on Monday Night Football, head coach Dan Quinn said Saturday.”

This news is a breath of fresh air for the coaching staff, who just days ago had to deal with the significant loss of Jayden Daniels. The former LSU standout won’t see any game action, leaving veteran Marcus Mariota as the team’s starting quarterback.

What injuries were McLaurin and Samuel dealing with?

The Washington Commanders are set to receive a major offensive boost with the return of their star wide receiver tandem for Monday Night Football. Terry McLaurin, who has been sidelined since Week 3 with a nagging quad injury, is off the final injury report.

Joining him is Deebo Samuel, who missed last week’s game due to a heel issue, but has also practiced fully and is good to go, providing a much-needed injection of elite playmaking into the Commanders’ attack.

A fearsome receiving corps

The simultaneous return of wide receivers Terry McLaurin and Deebo Samuel is a massive lift for the Commanders‘ offense, which sorely needs its star power. Through Week 7, Samuel has been the unit’s most productive pass-catcher, leading the team with 34 receptions, 315 receiving yards, and four total touchdowns (three receiving, one rushing).

Though limited by injury, McLaurin adds a vital downfield threat with his 10 catches for 149 yards in just three games. Their combined presence will dramatically increase the playmaking threat for a Washington offense currently ranked in the bottom half of the league in passing yards per game.

Jayden Daniels is still sidelined with a hamstring injury and will miss Week 8. However, there is a silver lining for Washington, as Marcus Mariota will have two important offensive players back to face Patrick Mahomes and the Chiefs.

On Saturday, the Commanders confirmed that both Terry McLaurin and Deebo Samuel are cleared to play against Kansas City. Both wide receivers are expected to play a crucial role for Mariota in this tough matchup under Andy Reid’s squad.

Key moment for their return

The timing couldn’t be better for the returns of Terry McLaurin and Deebo Samuel. While Samuel only missed one game, McLaurin has been out for the last four weeks. Their comebacks come at a critical moment for the Commanders.

Washington visits Kansas City on Monday Night Football for a challenging contest. The Chiefs started the season slowly but have regained momentum and currently sit at 4-3 after an 0-2 start.

While the Chiefs are favored, the return of McLaurin and Samuel could help narrow the gap between the teams. However, the absence of Jayden Daniels may still be decisive, even with both receivers back.

Marcus Mariota is currently 1-2 as a starter this season. He comes off a disappointing performance against the Cowboys, completing four of 10 passes for 63 yards, no touchdowns, and one interception.

The Washington Commanders will have a tough, divisional game against the Dallas Cowboys. However, the question is if they will be able to count with their best wide receivers Terry McLaurin and Deebo Samuel for this game.

McLaurin returned to practice but wasn’t cleared to play due to a quad injury. This marks another absence for McLaurin who hasn’t played since Week 3. Hence, the Commanders will have to continue to find other options on offense.

Jayden Daniels and McLaurin have a great chemistry but both have missed games this season. McLaurin is the best deep threat of the team and works wonders playing outside the numbers.

Is Deebo Samuel playing?

Deebo Samuel suffered a heel injury and is also out of the game. This means the Commanders are without their two best wide receivers for this crucial matchup against the Cowboys.

Samuel has been brilliant during his first season as a Commander. Offensive coordinator Kliff Kingsbury has been using him in a plethora of roles, but mainly as a receiver with center-field routes. Samuel’s ability to rack up yards after catch will be missed against Dallas.

Who are the Commanders wideouts for the game?

Washington will have veteran Chris Moore and second-year wideout Luke McCaffrey as its top two receivers for this game, with fourth-round rookie Jaylin Lane getting more than a handful of snaps as well.

Noah Brown was poised for a big role but also suffered an injury and was moved to IR. Hence, Daniels will have to work with role players. Having said that, this offense is so creative that it shouldn’t shock anyone if it’s able to move the chains against a struggling Cowboys defense.

The 2025 NFL season has been challenging for the Washington Commanders, with injuries taking a heavy toll, especially on the offensive side of the ball.

Terry McLaurin, the team’s star wide receiver, has missed several games due to a quad injury. To bolster the position, the Commanders have added a new wide receiver to their roster.

Commanders’ wide receiver depth chart with Treylon Burks

With McLaurin and Deebo Samuel listed as questionable, Luke McCaffrey, Jaylin Lane, Chris Moore, and now Treylon Burks are the only healthy wide receivers available for the Commanders.

Treylon Burks, a highly sought-after free agent, was recently released by the Tennessee Titans. As a former first-round pick, he attracted interest from several teams looking to strengthen their offenses.

While McLaurin and Deebo Samuel are expected to return soon, the Commanders currently have limited options at wide receiver, making Burks’ addition especially timely.

Unfortunately for Dan Quinn, the offense will be without a key piece once again, as star wide receiver Terry McLaurin remains sidelined with the quadriceps injury he’s been battling since Week 3. The Commanders’ top target will once again have to watch from the sidelines.

The news was confirmed by NFL insider Adam Schefter, who reported via his official X account (formerly Twitter) that Washington’s offense faces a significant setback, as they will also be without wide receiver Noah Brown.

“Commanders ruled out WRs Terry McLaurin and Noah Brown for Monday night’s game vs. the Bears,” the insider reported via @AdamSchefter.

McLaurin was one of the major storylines this past offseason, as the wide receiver spent the final stretch resolving his contract situation with the franchise.

McLaurin’s role in the Washington offense

The Washington Commanders’ already challenged offense is set to take another massive hit with the confirmation that star wide receiver Terry McLaurin will miss his third straight game due to a nagging quad injury.

McLaurin, a former Pro Bowler who consistently posts 1,000-yard seasons despite erratic quarterback play, is the unquestioned No. 1 option and field-stretcher for signal-caller Jayden Daniels, providing the reliability and vertical threat that prevents defenses from loading the box.

His repeated absence forces offensive coordinator Kliff Kingsbury to completely redesign the passing attack, placing a disproportionate burden on the rest of the receiving corps and limiting the opportunities for the Commanders to find explosive plays downfield against the Chicago Bears.

What’s next for the Commanders?

• vs Chicago Bears, October 13
• @ Dallas Cowboys, October 19
• @ Kansas City Chiefs, October 27
• vs Seattle Seahawks, November 2
• vs Detroit Lions, November 9

The Washington Commanders have high hopes for the season, but they have not been able to count with their best wide receiver in the last couple of weeks. While head coach was optimistic earlier in the week, it seems like Terry McLaurin won’t be able to play alongside Jayden Daniels for another week.

It’s been reported that McLaurin hasn’t practiced this week, making him an absentee of practices since Week 3. He has 10 catches for 149 yards this season and it’s the best receiver on the roster.

The Commanders also practiced without WR Deebo Samuel and running back Chris Rodriguez. Tight end John Bates and WR Noah Brown were limited in practice. However, the big news is offensive guard Sam Cosmi being a full participant. He could be absolutely massive in providing Jayden Daniels better protection.

McLaurin’s extension has not looked good

McLaurin held out almost all preseason looking for a new contract. He got it. Now, he didn’t play that well in the first few weeks, and now a calf injury has sidelined him for two weeks, possibly three. It’s not looking good at all.

McLaurin is 30 years old and now has missed time. Plus, his output hasn’t been as great as before. Literally, these were the reasons why the team was so hesitant to give him the bag, but now it’s done, and McLaurin needs to start delivering but the calf issue is taking more time than expected.

It’s a great QB battle for Monday Night Football

Commanders and Bears have the first two picks of last year’s draft and let’s just say we should have a brilliant quarterback battle between Jayden Daniels and Caleb Williams. Daniels has had a better career so far but Caleb is slowly improving under new coach Ben Johnson.

Also, Williams and the Bears are coming off a bye week with plenty of time to keep planning this game and learning the playbook. The offense must look good or Williams will be in the eye of the storm.

The Washington Commanders‘ offense is one of the best in the NFL despite having quite some injuries. Jayden Daniels missed two games but came back and won in his return. Speaking of returning, the team’s best wide receiver Terry McLaurin has been sidelined but great news about his status are coming the franchise’s way as they prepare to face the Chicago Bears in Week 6.

McLaurin has missed the last two games with a quad injury, but head coach Dan Quinn gave a positive update on Monday’s press conference. He said he is “optimistic” to get the wideout back for Monday Night Football against the Chicago Bears.

Quinn also said that “having an extra day never hurts.” McLaurin had 10 catches for 149 yards in the three games he’s played this season. He also got a contract extension during the offseason.

McLaurin’s connection with Daniels is great

One of the reasons Jayden Daniels is such a good quarterback is his arm. Another reason is having such a great wide receiver like Terry McLaurin on the roster. McLaurin has good routes, great hands and a flawless connection with Daniels.

Now that the offense also has Deebo Samuel on its roster, McLaurin has even more space. Yes, he shares some of his targets, but McLaurin is a guy focused on winning. All of a sudden, the Commanders have one of the best receiving corps in the NFL.

Kliff Kingsbury is arguably one of the best OCs in the NFL

Kingsbury’s time as a head coach in Arizona was really bad. He took some time off the league but then came back as the Commanders’ offensive coordinator. He is arguably the best OC in the NFL right now. His offense is really creative and the Commanders have still delivered even when Daniels and McLaurin have been sidelined.

Kingsbury’s offense is so good schematically that even with injuries, the chains move. He lost his starting running back, now the committee of Jacory Croskey-Merritt, Chris Rodriguez, and Jeremy McNichols is working wonders too. It’s time to recognize Kingsbury is on top of his game.
