The last couple years, they’ve been like top five in defense. I don’t think they really need me, but it would be good to go back home and help them win.”

Mathieu also cited his friendship withC.J. Gardner-Johnson as one of the reasons to head back home and play for the Saints, stating that they could have one of the most entertaining defenses in the league:

“That’s one of my guys. I could imagine that secondary with me and him in it,” the safety added. “You know, probably first of all, it would be the shortest secondary in the league. But, it’ll probably be the most feistyone too. So, I mean, it would definitely give the fans in New Orleans a treat every Sunday.”

Mathieu isn’t the most physical specimen in the league but he’s got a great nose for the ball and is an explosive, eletric, contagious player. The Saints may not be that good this season, but adding him could certainly help their case.

And that frustration was on full display during the first half. Star defender Tyrann Mathieu was flagged during a play and then was seen on the sidelines shouting at Tom Brady, who was also clearly angry at him.

However, he later took to Twitter to voice his thoughts on what really happened, calling out Tom Brady and claiming that the media is going to throw him under the bus like they always do rather than try and hear both sides of the altercation.

“He called me something I won’t repeat but yeah I’ll let all the media throw me under the bus as if I did something or said something to him… Go back to my previous games against TB12 I showed him nothing but respect. The defender later deleted the tweets but the evidence was already out in the open. Now, you can’t help but question whether Tom Brady actually started things or not, but Iguess we’ll never know for a fact.
