Now serving as an analyst for NBA broadcasts on Prime Video, Haslem recently shared a surprising revelation about the moment he realized it was time to consider retirement. “I had a ‘I need to retire’ moment seven years before I finally did retire,” Haslem admitted.

Haslem elaborated on what led to his reflections on retirement, stating, “It was around the time we acquired Hassan Whiteside. I thought, ‘No way is he taking my minutes.’ I didn’t realize he could grab the rim while keeping his feet on the ground,” he recounted.

He’s going to have to (expletive) guard,” Udonis added. “If you put him against Denver, you going to put him on Michael Porter Jr.? Where you gonna put him?”

“The thing that jumps out at you is just the three-point volume… Not many guys that can shoot off the dribble at that volume from three, can also make 40% of them,” said the coach. “He’s a great offensive player, man,” added Vanderbilt, who shared what the Lakers need to do to slow him down: “Just continue to just make it tough for him. He can get going quick, so just not to get anything easy for him.”

“And Houston [Rockets] have that as well,” Haslem added. “So, neither one of those teams in the first round is going to play out well for Golden State. So, in my opinion, move up as high as you can and get out of there”.

Haslem highlights Jimmy Butler’s weakness

Before the Warriors’ bounce-back win over the Bucks, they suffered a loss to the Nuggets, who were missing their star, Nikola Jokic. During that game, Haslem pointed out a specific weakness in Jimmy Butler’s game against certain player profiles like Aaron Gordon and Russell Westbrook.

“When you talk about Aaron Gordon and Russell Westbrook, you’re talking about guys that have size, speed, and athleticism,” Haslem noted. “Those are the kinds of guys Jimmy struggles with”.

“Smaller guards he can overpower, bigger guys he can usually get around,” he continued. “Those guys that have that balance of both, those teams are ones Jimmy struggles with. Guys with switchable matchups that can guard him on the post and the perimeter”.

Curry believes Butler could deliver a championship

Speaking on 95.7 The Game’s Steiny & Guru, Stephen Curry expressed confidence in the Warriors’ championship potential following the addition of Butler. “We can win it [the NBA title]. Absolutely. That’s why we’re juiced to be in this position,” Curry said.

“We have plenty of experience on our side, a good balance of veteran presence and youthful energy,” he continued. “Butler’s trade brought balance to our team, defined our roles, and solidified our rotation from night to night”.

“Tyler’s role for us, and the best role for him, is to probably be a sixth man,” Haslem stated during an interview with NBA Today in May, a comment that raised eyebrows given his position as Miami’s Vice President of Basketball Development.

Reflecting on that statement in a recent interview with the Miami Herald, Herro shared that he addressed the matter with Haslem. “It was a friendly conversation. I told him my concerns about why I didn’t think he should have said that,” Herro explained, signaling his discomfort with Haslem’s opinion.

“Talking to my sources, the 76ers’ ownership group — they kinda regret what they did five years ago [in trading Jimmy Butler] and they see the success that he’s had,” wrote Pompey. “And they realize he could be in their eyes, the missing piece, and they’re willing to give him the money he wants.”

Butler is reportedly looking to get a max contract extension. If the Heat aren’t willing to meet his asking price, the Sixers could look to trade for him and fulfill his demands:

All jokes aside, the Sixers giving Butler a max contract six years after refusing to do so might not be the wisest decision, and the Heat must also be cautious about overpaying for an injury-prone player about to turn 35 years old.
