Brady’s WWE storyline began on a podcast

Tom Brady appeared on the Impaulsive podcast, hosted by WWE superstar, Logan Paul. The former quarterback said Paul’s athleticism was “cute” compared to stuff NFL players do. This sparked a somewhat heated argument between the two.

Then, they both played on a flag football event, where things got chirpy between them. Now, there’s reports that Brady will appear in Wrestlemania 42. With the Grandest Stage of Them All just a few weeks apart, negotiations must ramp up quickly.

Per Dave Meltzer of the Wrestling Observer, “they are in negotiations for Tom Brady, but there’s absolutely not a deal at this point for Tom Brady. So it could happen, obviously, Logan Paul and Tom Brady are working… I think people have seen that coming in, but there could be something in some form at WrestleMania.”

It’s not the first time Brady has flirted with the WWE

Last year, Brady teased his presence at Allegiant Stadium during Wrestlemania 41. “I may be there,” Brady told Fox News back in the day. “But it’s amazing what’s going on there[,] and it’s amazing what’s happening with WWE and all the different things surrounding that.” However, he didn’t appear.

9. The Undertaker vs. Shawn Michaels – WrestleMania 25

The Undertaker was the king of WrestleMania for a long time, his unbeaten streak was one of the best storylines in the business. In WrestleMania 25 the streak was really put in jeopardy when the Dead Man took on Shawn Michaels in a 30-minute wrestling masterpiece. The match had it all, it had incredible storytelling, pace, athletic ability from the huge Undertaker and the quick and high-flying Michaels. The impressive finish was as unexpected and as rewarding for the fan when Undertaker tombstoned Michaels and kept his streak alive in sensational fashion.

8. Ric Flair vs. Randy Savage – WrestleMania 8

The dream match between Hulk Hogan and Ric Flair was supposed to take place at WrestleMania 8, but a steroids scandal and Hollywood offers for Hogan, plus Vince McMahon’s own reservations put the match on hold. Instead, Hogan was put in a horrible main event against Sid Justice, but Ric Flair showed he still had it against the amazing and equally impressive Macho Man Randy Savage.

The build up to the match was old school NWA, Flair claiming to have slept with Macho Man’s wife Elizabeth and Savage fighting for the belt and his wife’s honor. The match was a turn back the clock performance for both, Flair in his 40’s took every bump imaginable, and due to the buildup; you knew Savage could not possibly lose this one. Savage won his second WWE World title, Flair despite the loss looked amazing, even balding (bleeding) in WrestleMania, could you ask anything more from Flair?

Afterward Flair’s original run in WWE would end after two title reigns that felt really short for such an established wrestler, Savage’s title reign was equally not memorable and would drop the title to Flair on a TV taping. If anything, these two champions served as sort of a bridge to the new generation that would follow when Bret Hart defeated Flair to win the WWE title. Oh, by the way, Hogan and Flair would meet in 1994 in WCW, but by then the “magic” of the match was gone.

7. The Ultimate Warrior vs. Randy Savage – WrestleMania 7

I don’t care what anyone says, there is no way a fan was not glued to their seat for this career ending match between the Ultimate Warrior and the Macho Man at WrestleMania 7. Maybe no match had higher stakes than this one, fresh off of losing his WWE title the Warrior was out for blood against the man who cost him his championship, the Macho Man.

The match was high impact and while Warrior was never the best worker it was truly a fluid and amazing match. Some spots include the Macho Man leaping off the top rope and the Warrior catching him in midair and slapping him right after. For Randy Savage it was another amazing WrestleMania match to go on his resume, for Warrior it was a victory and a showcase that he was getting better as a talent, the crowd was mesmerized to him, and his in-ring work was getting much better only a year shy of beating Hogan in WrestleMania 6. One of the most amazing things about this match was the Warrior’s entrance, he did not run to the ring but rather walked indicating that this one was huge!

6. “Stone Cold” Steve Austin vs. The Rock – WrestleMania 17

At the height of the Attitude Era no names were bigger than Steve Austin and The Rock. Two of the greatest performers in any era of the sport. Both were faces, good guys, at the time and the match had a Hulk Hogan vs Ultimate Warrior feel to it. Austin was the hero as the match was in Texas, but The Rock pulled out all his bag of tricks.

The match had everything, suspense, shock value, and even Vince McMahon’s involvement, where Austin would eventually win and turn heel (bad) all in one night. Fans were shocked and Austin left with the belt and the biggest heat imaginable.

5. The Undertaker vs Brock Lesnar – WrestleMania 30

The Undertaker and Brock Lesnar provided maybe the most shocking moment in WrestleMania history, the end of the Undertaker’s winning streak at the event. We all knew it would happen one day, or maybe not, it was intriguing to think that the great Undertaker might leave the business without ever losing in the industry’s marquee event.

The match itself was a physical 25-minute match where the tough Lesnar connected on three F-5’s, his finishing move, Lesnar got the win to the objection of many fans on the internet. The streak ended although Undertaker would return and end his career, for now, with a record of 25-2 at the big event.

4. Bret Hart vs. “Stone Cold” Steve Austin – WrestleMania 13

At the dawn of the Attitude Era the great Bret Hart took on Steve Austin in an “I Quit Match”, and it was an all-out brawl, something uncommon for the technically gifted Hart. The match went from the outside, to the stands, chairs, cables, the ring bell, it was all used in a gritty and even bloody match.

As the crowd at the time began to cheer the heel Austin, Hart would make the turn to heel during this match while Austin got sympathy from the crowd as he would not quit to Hart’s sharpshooter, all while screaming in a puddle of his own blood. Austin passed out and Hart won, but both came out winners so to speak as both were hotter in the business than ever.

3. Shawn Michaels vs. Bret Hart – WrestleMania 12

A year before the “I Quit match” Bret Hart and Shawn Michaels went over one hour in an Ironman match for the WWE World title. If you want to see wrestling at its most exciting, technical, and fluid watch this match. Both wrestlers, who in real life did not like each other, brought their A game.

Michaels was given the reigns as the promotion’s topman for well over a year, Hart would return later on and eventually win the title again. This all would lead to the ill-fated Montreal Screw job that propelled the WWE, made Michaels look like a company man in a bad way, and Hart would move to WCW to earn a huge pay day, while bitter at his past employer. The healing process took almost 20 years.

2. Randy Savage vs. Ricky Steamboat – Wrestlemania 3

This match stole the show at WrestleMania 3, Savage and Steamboat for the Intercontinental championship was one for the ages. The match was fluid, high flying, showcasing the best from a younger Savage and Steamboat. While watching this match one would never think that Savage, a perfectionist by nature, wrote out the match on paper and choreographed it with Steamboat to the point of driving Steamboat and the WWE brass crazy.

This match had everything, the commentary for the match was provided by Jesse Ventura and Gorilla Monsoon who put both men over in a big way and both commentators were genuinely excited by what was going on in the ring. Savage would go on to do great things in the WWE, Steamboat, who worked during the time of Hulk Hogan, had to go to NWA/WCW to win a World title.

1. The Ultimate Warrior vs. Hulk Hogan – WrestleMania 6

Yes, it might not be the most technically gifted match of all-time, but it was original and unique for its time. For the first time the two biggest good guys in the business would go toe to toe in a title for title match at WrestleMania 6. The match had an incredible build up, and when both men were in the ring the crowd exploded in the sold out SkyDome.

The match was full of high impact spots, and maybe Warrior could have done a bit more if Hogan would have moved out of his safety shell, but nonetheless it was a lot better than many pundits give the match credit for. Hogan did the job, passed the torch and Warrior would be champion for one year. Hogan would return, as he always does, win the title a few more times but the fans were getting tired of him with each reign. The rematch in WCW we will not comment on at all…
