With Carlos Correa taking a U-turn to sign with the New York Mets, this MLB offseason has officially been full of shocking moves and storylines.
Even though they claim the NBA is where amazing happens, Major League Baseball isn’t that far off. Every single year, the offseason is full of shocking moves, trades, and international signings.

This year wasn’t the exception to that trend. From the New York Mets signing Kodai Senga to a massive dealto Cody Bellinger getting MVP-kind of money, it seems like you never know what’s going on in this league.

And with Carlos Correa’s last-second move to Queens, this offseason might as well have been one of the craziest in recent times. With that in mind, let’s take a look at the most shocking transactions.

MLB News: The Most Shocking Offseason Moves

3. Xander Bogaerts

    Xander Bogaerts – Getty Images

While it wasn’t shocking to see multiple teams interested in Xander Bogaerts, the fact that he joined the San Diego Padres,of all teams, was a major surprise. I mean, how many shortstops do they need?

The Padres are trying to build a contender by any means necessary, and spending big money on superstars is sure a step in that direction. But you have to wonder whether this was the right fit for both parties.

2. Jacob deGrom

    Jacob deGrom – Getty Images

Most people were on the fence about Jacob deGrom. 50% thought he was a lock to be back with the New York Mets, while the other 50% was sure he was going to end up with the Atlanta Braves.

So, it was shocking to see the Texas Rangers coming out of the left field to snatch the best pitcher in baseball to a mega deal. Hopefully, he’ll stay healthy and will be able to live up to that contract.

1. Carlos Correa

    Carlos Correa – Getty Images

Obviously, Carlos Correa’s deal has to be the biggest surprise. He had already agreed to a 13-yearmega-deal with the San Francisco Giants. Then, out of the blue, they postponed his press conference due to health concerns.

But apparently, Steve Cohen wasn’t concerned at all. He gave Correa a 12-year contract to get the superstar shortstop to the New York Mets. So, what actually happened? What popped up in his medical? I guess we’ll never know.

With the MLB season already on the record books, let's take a look at the top three best infielders that could be available in the offseason.
The 2022 Major League Baseball season was full of surprises. Nonetheless, watching the Houston Astros take the World Series wasn’t all that shocking, considering how consistent and good they were for most of the season.

Needless to say, the rest of the league will try to replicate their success and put together a team that could challenge come playoff time. That will be easier said than done, but there could be multiple players that could help with that cause.

With that in mind, let’s take a look at three of the best players who could be available and switch teams in free agency. Spoiler alert: Your favorite team will most likely miss the chance to sign them.

MLB Rumors: 3 Best Infielders That Could Be Available

3. Xander Bogaerts

    Xander Bogaerts – Getty Images

Xander Bogaerts and the Boston Red Sox haven’t been able to reach an agreement on a contract extension. He’s had enough of giving up money to help the team out, and feels like he deserves more.

Moreover, the Red Sox failed to stay in contention this season, and will have plenty o new faces after several of their stars hit free agency. Bogaerts has been a stalwart for the organization, but his days in Boston seem numbered.

2. Trea Turner

    Trea Turner – Getty Images

The Los Angeles Dodgers struck gold when they acquired Trea Turner from the Washington Nationals. He can play multiple positions and is one of the best lead-off hitters in all the Big Show.

Turner’s defense is only topped by his offense, and the Dodgers simply can’t afford to let him walk away in free agency. However, he could be tempted to join another team if the offer is high enough.

1. Carlos Correa

    Carlos Correa – Getty Images

There was plenty of speculation regarding Carlos Correa’s future for most of the season. And while the Minnesota Twins peaked later in the season, it seems like it may not be enough to retain him.

Correa was the most sought-after shortstop in the market the last offseason and is a lock to go through the same again if he decides to opt-out from his deal. He’s too good to waste his talents on a non-contending team.

Aruban star Xander Bogaerts is the Boston Red Sox's most valuable asset right now. Ironically, they may be better off trading him away before this year'sdeadline.
When the Boston Red Sox traded Mookie Betts and David Price to the Los Angeles Dodgers, most people thought it was the beginning of the end for them and their winning days. Some even speculated that Xander Bogaerts could also be shipped before the start of the season.

Boston held on to the Aruban shortstop for this campaign and thus far, he’s proving to be their leader on and off the field, hitting .273 with 12 runs, 13 RBIs, 2 stolen bases, and an OBP of .337 through the first 23 games of the season.

So, why on earth should the Red Sox consider trading their franchise cornerstone? Well, for starters, their farm system isn’t looking good at all. They must make some moves planning ahead to the future.

Second, the Red Sox continue to slide in the AL East. They’re currently sitting at a 6-18 record and trail the New York Yankees by 10.5 games. They’re not going to make the playoffs and that’s not going to change any time soon. But still, that’s not the biggest reason to trade Xander Bogaerts this season. So what is it then?

Xander Bogaerts’ Contract: The No-Trade Clause

The Red Sox signed Xander Bogaerts to a huge contract extension in 2019. That new deal could keep him at Fenway Park through 2025 while paying him $20 million a year, which is pretty reasonable considering his contributions.

Then again, his contract includes a no-trade clause once he reaches seven years of service in the Majors. As you may have noticed by now, he could reach that milestone as soon as September2020, according to The Athletic’s Ken Rosenthal. That’s right after the August 31 trade deadline.

So, if the Red Sox want to make the most out of their most valuable asset without his consent, they must act now. Bogaerts’ talents could come handily on pretty much every team on earth, and his value is an all-time high as he enters his prime at just 27 years old.
