Following several subpar and injury-riddled seasons, it seems like Yoenis Cespedes is finally back at full strength and ready to make a Major League Baseball roster.
A couple of years ago, Yoenis Cespedes was considered one of the most dominant hitters in Major League Baseball, an intimidating slugger with some nice arm power that any team would’ve love to have on the outfield.

Fast-forward to today, and the 35-year-old Cuban player isn’t even on a roster, following quite the disappointing tenure with the New York Mets. Now, however, it seems like he’s finally ready to make a comeback.

Cespedes opted out of last season after just 8 games with the Mets, slashing.161/.235/.387 with two home runs on that span. Also, he hasn’t been a regular every-day kind of player in the league since 2018.

But, according to scouts attending his showcase in Florida, he’s finally back at full strength and hasn’t missed a beat in terms of contact and power, so he could make a roster rather sooner than later.

MLB Teams Impressed By Yoenis Cespedes’ Showcase

The New York Yankees and San Diego Padres were reportedly the most impressed teams by Cespedes’ skills. However, it’s also worth noting that the Blue Jays, Brewers, Reds, Tigers, White Sox, Rays, Marlins, Cubs, and Braves also sent scouts to watch him.

It’s a new day. pic.twitter.com/gXcpXB137z

— Yoenis Cespedes (@ynscspds) March 2, 2021

Needless to say, Yoenis Cespedes isn’t as mobile in the outfield as he used to be back in the daybut, according to multiple scouts, he’s still got what it takes to be a successful designated hitter.

Spring Training is already underway as teams look ahead to Opening Day on April 1 so the clock is ticking on the Cuban defector. Then again, even if he gets the call he’s been waiting for, he’s not likely to be an every-day starter, at least for the time being. It’s been a while since Cespedes was relevant in The Big Show but if someone deserves another chance to prove his worth, that’s him.
