FC Barcelona faced Juventus in the Joan Gamper Trophy to finish their preseason, before they debut in La Liga on August 15. And 3,000 fans were at the Johan Cruyff Stadium, where the women’s team and Barça B play, for the official presentation of the women’s and men’s first teams, for the first time without Lionel Messi.

The Joan Gamper Trophy didn’t take place in the Camp Nou for the first time ever due to the Covid-19 restrictions in Cataluña. As Barcelona couldn’t reunite 20,000 fans to be in their main stadium, they decided to let 3,000 in at the Johan Cruyff Stadium.

The Joan Gamper Trophy is supposed to be a “party” before the start of the season, however this Saturday, the mood wasn’t up due to the farewell of Lionel Messi, who said goodbye to the club in a press conference earlier.

Barcelona vs Juventus: 3,000 fans attend Johan Cruyff Stadium

Barcelona won 3-0 over Juventus in their last game of the preseason with goals from Memphis Depay, Martin Braithwaite and Riqui Puig. While it’s obvious that the team won’t be the same without Lionel Messi, the new signing is exciting. Before the presentation of the men’s first team, Barcelona women’s team won 6-0 over Juventus too.

While Barça won, the fans couldn’t forget the exit of Lionel Messi. In the 10th minute, as every time Messi scored a goal, the fans at the stadium chanted his name. On the other hand, Cristiano Ronaldo came back to Barcelona one more time and although he didn’t score, he didn’t go unnoticed.
