Wimbledon 2021 started on Monday with some thrilling matches. Today, June 29, the 23-time Grand Slam champion, Serena Williams will try to kick off her campaign with the right foot against Belarusian Aliaksandra Sasnovich in a match for the third Grand Slam of the year. Here, find out everything there is to know about this encounter, such as the preview,  information, the head-to-head, storylines, predictions, odds and how to watch this tennis game in the US.

The first day of Wimbledon 2021 was filled with emotions. While defending champion Novak Djokovic had to fight to pass over 19 year-old British Jack Draper in four sets, American Frances Tiafoe defeated Roland Garros finalist, Stefanos Tsitsipas. For the ladies side, title contenders Aryna Sabalenka, Garbiñe Muguruza and Iga Swiatek had a solid start.

And Williams will try to do the same. The younger of the Williams sisters, who has reached the final in her last four appearances in Wimbledon, will reappear at the circuit after her shocking loss in the fourth-round to Elena Rybakina at Roland Garros. The sixth seed didn’t do any preparation in grass prior to the tournament and that could be an obstacle in her quest for her 24 major.

Aliaksandra Sasnovich vs Serena Williams: Head-to-head and storylines

Serena Williams, 39 years old, and Aliaksandra Sasnovich, 27 years old, have never faced each other on tour before. However, these two players promise an interesting match since both are good on the grass.

Sasnovich's best run in a Grand Slam has been at Wimbledon. She reached the fourth round in 2018, beating two-time champion Petra Kvitova. She also has a very strong forehand, which is her best tool to create problems. In 2021, the Bielorusan has a win-loss 11-11 record but she hasn’t won any top 70 player.

While Williams comes without grass preparation, she shouldn’t have problems to reach the second round. Her record this years is 12-4. Williams has been finalist in the last editions of Wimbledon, and this year she has a really good chance to go deep thanks to a not so hard draw.
