Houston Rockets reportedly make decision on Jalen Green’s future within the franchise

Despite a great regular season, the Houston Rockets lost to the Golden State Warriors in the playoffs. After that, Jalen Green’s future came into question, as the team began searching for a more experienced profile. However, new information has now emerged about his continuity.

The Houston Rockets had a strong regular season. They even finished second in the Western Conference, which exceeded expectations. However, the team got eliminated by the Golden State Warriors in a tough series that went to seven games. Many believe the lack of a veteran presence played a key role in the loss. Because of that, Jalen Green’s future with the team became uncertain as they reportedly wanted to bring in a more experienced player. However, new details about this continuity with the franchise have emerged.

The Rockets have previously held serious interest in the Suns’ Devin Booker, but team sources said that is no longer the case. Not only do team officials still have faith in Jalen Green, who is five years younger than Booker and $66 million cheaper over the next three seasons, but also Booker’s struggles last season shifted the thinking on this front,” reported Sam Amick and Kelly Iko on The Athletic.

Many fans welcomed the decision with enthusiasm. That is mainly because Jalen Green is one of the franchise’s most promising players. He also represents a clear investment in the team’s future. Moreover, his performance during the 2024–25 season was outstanding. He averaged 21 points, 4.6 rebounds, and 3.4 assists per game. As a result, he led the team in scoring and showed he can handle the responsibility. Impressively, he did all this at just 23 years old.

Despite the Rockets will not reportedly persue Booker, it does not mean the Rockets will avoid making trades for next NBA season. The team still needs an experienced offensive star. Green had a good season, but his inexperience in the postseason was noticeable. Even if Devin Booker could have been a solid option, his inconsistency this season raised many questions. Therefore, the franchise may start looking at other alternatives for the upcoming campaign.

Houston Rockets reportedly identify top trade target for the upcoming NBA season

After moving on from Devin Booker as a potential target for next season, the Houston Rockets are reportedly setting their sights even higher. According to NBA insider Brian Windhorst, the Rockets are now interested in pursuing Milwaukee Bucks superstar Giannis Antetokounmpo, who is said to be reconsidering his future with the franchise.

However, Houston are not the only team keeping tabs on the two-time MVP. The San Antonio Spurs are also reportedly eyeing Antetokounmpo, potentially setting up a competitive race for one of the league’s biggest stars.

For the Rockets, his arrival would be the perfect answer to their needs. He brings elite offensive power. Also, Giannis has long experience in the postseason. However, neither franchise would have an easy path to get him. According to Shams Charania, he wants to play alongside another superstar. That way, he will not carry the full offensive load like he does in the Bucks.

Despite Jalen Green and Victor Wembanyama are both great players, their lack of consistency and playoff experience creates a gap. That leaves Giannis to carry most of the responsibility. Still, that does not mean a move to Houston is impossible. In fact, he would be the final piece in a talented roster. With his arrival, the Rockets could reach a whole new level.
