The <a href="https://bolavip.com/en/topic/new-york-yankees">New York Yankees</a> continue to explore options on the offseason market, but a new report suggests they are essentially out of the race, along with the New York Mets, for Freddy Peralta, with the Dodgers now making a strong push to land the two-time All-Star right-hander.



The report comes from Hector Gomez of Z101 Digital on X (@z101digital): “SOURCE: The Dodgers strongly pushing for All-Star Freddy Peralta on trade market. The talks are becoming increasingly intense.” With that, the reigning World Series champions appear to be going all-in to acquire him.



Peralta is a relatively affordable pitcher for any team like the <a href="https://bolavip.com/en/topic/new-york-mets">Mets</a>, and according to Bleacher Report and other outlets, The Brewers are open to listen to offers. “The Milwaukee Brewers are still receiving trade offers for starting pitcher Freddy Peralta, according to the New York Post’s Jon Heyman,” Joseph Zucker recently wrote for Bleacher Report.



<h2>How much would a pitcher like Peralta cost?</h2>



If he remains in Milwaukee, Peralta is scheduled to make $8 million in 2026. Any team pursuing him, in this case, a race now led by the Dodgers, would likely need to offer $10 million or more in value, including at least one player or prospect, which is what the Brewers would be seeking.

“I love playing second, I love playing short, I love playing third,” Clement continued, adding that he has also learned to play some first base. That versatility could give the Blue Jays a valuable option in 2026 if they need to cover positions in emergency situations.



<h2>Another strong year for Clement</h2>



The 2025 season was not a one-off for Clement with the Blue Jays. He already had a solid year in 2024, appearing in 139 games with a .263 batting average. Last season, however, was his best in terms of games played and overall production, as he recorded 151 hits and posted his second-best batting average with Toronto at .277.

Clement said he feels more than ready every time he takes the field for the Blue Jays. “I feel so prepared for every game all I have to do is just trust my instinct,” he said. Boras is still hoping to find a ‘one dumb owner’ to top that in both years and AAV. If one does, the Yankees are prepared to move on,” Madden wrote for the Daily News.



That final part of Madden’s report is especially telling, as it underscores that the Yankees have no interest in entering a bidding war. The offer they currently have on the table for <a href="https://bolavip.com/en/topic/cody-bellinger">Bellinger</a>, believed to be in the $150–$160 million range, is viewed by the organization as more than sufficient for a player of his caliber.

Philadelphia, or another club, could theoretically offer Bellinger less than that over a similar number of years and still land him.

The <a href="https://bolavip.com/en/topic/philadelphia-phillies">Philadelphia Phillies</a> watched Bo Bichette sign with the Mets and now find themselves at a crossroads. According to a new report, the club is no longer expected to pursue another major position player for next season.



The report comes from a recent article by Matt Gelb of The Athletic. “The Phillies were willing to readjust everything for Bichette, but absent him, they are now unlikely to add a meaningful position player,” the MLB insider wrote, while also detailing what Philadelphia offered the former Blue Jays infielder.



“Their interest in Bichette was legitimate. The Phillies were offering seven years and somewhere in the range of $190 million to $200 million, multiple league sources told The Athletic,” Gelb revealed. It is now known that the infielder turned down that offer from Philadelphia in favor of New York’s $126 million deal.



<h2>Why didn’t the Phillies push harder for Bichette?</h2>



As Gelb explained in his report, it ultimately came down to finances. The Phillies had already run their numbers and felt that a seven-year deal approaching $200 million was more than enough, especially as a way to avoid heavier tax penalties that would come with a different contract structure.

Even a $28 million AAV in 2026 would have cost the Phillies $59 million with taxes,” Gelb wrote for The Athletic.
