New York is used to making such offseason splashes on free agents, while Chicago isn’t. According to Newsweek’s prediction, the Mets will land Kyle Tucker on an 11-year, $430 million contract, outbidding the Toronto Blue Jays for the star right-fielder. If that were to happen, Tucker would bag the second-highest contract on the Mets. Obviously, he would come in second after Juan Soto who signed a 15-year, $765 million deal in Queens.

Barry M. Bloom of Forbes raised eyebrows by reporting that Bellinger was seeking an eight-year contract worth an impressive $400 million. Bloom eventually said to consider his report retracted due to a petition from Boras, who denied his client was expecting those figures. However, the agent didn’t provide a number.

Regardless of Boras’ comment to Bloom, Samson continued to call out the agent, saying that Bellinger isn’t worth that kind of money. “Bellinger is absolutely delusional if he thinks he is a $50 million dollar player. He can’t be under any analysis,” Samson added. 



“No matter the ridiculousness fed by Boras. No matter what his free agent binder looks like, selling Bellinger to all these teams. There is no argument to be made anywhere that Bellinger is a $400 million player. Say nothing of a $50 million player.”

After a solid 2023 campaign where he posted a 3.76 ERA and a 1.31 WHIP over 64.2 innings, Mike Baumann struggled to maintain his consistency during the 2024 season.

Despite the statistical dip, Baumann still displayed flashes of his potential, particularly during his early-season stint with the Baltimore Orioles, where he maintained a much more effective 3.44 ERA before being designated for assignment.

Rosenthal emphasized the Red Sox’s priorities: “The answer for the Red Sox is Bregman. If not him, Bichette. And the way Breslow has operated this offseason, making one economically shrewd move after another, the Sox are in perfect position to strike. They have the money. Time to spend it.”
