Some love them, some hate them, everybody fears them. Cristiano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi will face off yet again as Juventus and FC Barcelona are set to clash for the upcoming edition of the UEFA Champions League.
Everybody was expecting and dreaming of this kind of matchup ahead of the UEFA Champions League group stage draw. Now, the sports community has exactly what they’ve been asking for since Cristiano left La Liga.
There has never been a rivalry like this. Not Larry Bird vs. Magic Johnson, or Tom Brady vs. Peyton Manning. This is as good as it gets, especially considering how dominant they’ve been over the past decade or so.
Juventus enters the year as the reigning Serie A champion once again, while FC Barcelona has a lot of doubts regarding their ability to compete at the highest level under Ronald Koeman’s command. Then again, every time you have Lionel Messi on your ranks, you’re a title favorite.
