Following the loss to the Dodgers, Shildt commented, “We’re pushing, you know, piecing it together and competing at the same time.” However, he also hinted at potential bull adjustments, adding, “But you know, we’re going to need some depth out of some starters.”

What Shildt said about potential bullpen considerations for the Padres might sound exaggerated, especially given that they currently boast the third-best bullpen ERA in MLB.

While this is a good showing, it’s worth noting that the Mets and Giants currently lead with ERAs of 4.03 and 3.96 respectively. However, a recent outing against the Dodgers raised some concerns for manager Mike Shildt, as the team allowed five runs in the first five innings of that particular game. This highlights that even the best bullpens can have off nights.
