Josh Giddey’s situation in NBA free agency has been one of the most talked-about stories this offseason, alongside Jonathan Kuminga with the Golden State Warriors. While both players face similar contract questions, Giddey’s future with the Chicago Bulls appears closer to being resolved.

After a strong first season with the Bulls, Giddey expected a sizable contract extension. Reports indicate some disagreements between Chicago’s front office and Giddey over salary figures, though negotiations were reportedly progressing well.

According to Jake Fischer, Giddey is seeking a deal around $30 million per year, while the Bulls are reportedly offering closer to $20 million annually. Still, sources say a resolution could come soon.

Amid this backdrop, trade rumors surfaced linking Giddey to a potential deal with the Warriors in exchange for Kuminga. However, three-time NBA champion Stacey King—who won titles with the Bulls alongside Michael Jordan—is firmly against moving Giddey.

I’m vetoing that. Sending Giddey anywhere. For a kid that young, that has such a high upside, he’s going to be a very good player in this league, whether he’s playing for the Bulls or anywhere. You don’t want to be in that ‘regret mode’, like we gave up this guy over a couple of million dollars here and there,” King said on the Gimme The Hot Sauce podcast.
