Whenever you find a young defender with sky-high potential, you have to do whatever it takes to sign him. That seems to be the case with Argentina's Cristian Romero, who's coming off an outstanding campaign in Italy and was a key piece on the team that just won the Copa America.

It didn't take long before 'Cuti' Romero convinced Lionel Scaloni that he should be the man who anchors his defense, and after being named Serie A's best defender last season, it's only natural to think that he's ready for a bigger challenge.

And, according to multiple reports, Atalanta are considering picking up his buy clause from Juventus but he won't stay there for long, as two Premier League giants are allegedly keeping tabs on his situation.

Transfer News: 2 Premier League Giants Want Atalanta's Cristian Romero

"The Argentine spent last season on loan at Atalanta from Juventus, but the Bergamo-based side have the option to buy him for 13.5 million euros, an option they will execute. Now, according to the Sun, Atalanta will look to make around 40-50 million euros from the sale of Romero to one of the Premier League big boys," reported Marca.

Tottenham

Tottenham are set to go through a major transition this year and it's obvious that they need to reinforce the center of their defense. The 23-year-old would be an undisputed starter under Nuno Espirito Santo and he'd get plenty of opportunities to keep blossoming as one of the world's most promising young players.

Manchester United

Manchester United are also reportedly looking forward to signing Romero. And albeit they're going to play UEFA Champions League soccer and are expected to be fighting for the top spot in the English Premier League, Romero could have a harder time getting minutes, as he'd have to fight with Harry Maguire, Victor Lindelof, Phil Jones, Eric Bailly, and Axel Tuanzebe for playing time.
