Walter Clayton Jr. is currently the hottest player in the nation. Just like fellow stars Johni Broome and Cooper Flagg, he cemented himself as a showstopper in college basketball.
The Florida guard will continue to turn heads in the weeks leading to the NBA Draft. Despite being 22 years old, he’s now projected to be taken in the first round.
With that in mind, sports analyst Joe Cox dug deep in his tape to figure out his best potential NBA destination. Given his shooting prowess as a 38.8% three-point shooter, he thinks he’d be a perfect fit for the Orlando Magic.
The Orlando Magic should take Walter Clayton Jr
“The hottest rumored destination for Clayton is the Orlando Magic. It certainly makes sense,” wrote Cox. “He’s the local star, and Orlando is dead last in the NBA in 3-point shooting (31.4%). The Magic could certainly benefit from drafting Clayton on several levels. They’re currently projected to draft at No. 23, which is within the realm of many recent draft projections for the Florida guard.“
There’s always a chance that Clayton’s draft stock will rise with a strong performance in the days leading to the NBA Draft during the combine and in interviews.
But he’s available by the time the Magic are on the clock, they should strongly consider taking him to finally put an end to their pursuit of a point guard and a floor-spacer.
