Casemiro’s departure from Manchester United at the end of the season is nearly a done deal, with multiple reports positioning Lionel Messi’s Inter Miami as a serious candidate to land the former Real Madrid star. Amidst the speculation, the Brazilian midfielder delivered an emotional confirmation that his tenure in the Premier League will conclude this summer.
“I am hoping not to cry on my last day, as it is such a beautiful experience. My wife already cried the other day when the fans were asking for one more year. So, I just want to enjoy it, enjoy all the moments—I will be a United fan for the rest of my life,” Casemiro told Manchester United’s official website.
Manchester United will play their final home game at Old Trafford on Sunday, May 17, where a massive farewell is expected for the veteran. While his future remains unconfirmed, insider Fabrizio Romano noted that the Brazilian is keen on a move to Inter Miami, drawn by the club’s ambitious project and the chance to play alongside Messi.
Why Casemiro is a perfect fit for Inter Miami
Following an early exit from the Concacaf Champions Cup, Inter Miami are looking to further bolster their squad, and Casemiro would be a cornerstone in Javier Mascherano’s tactical setup.

The retirement of Sergio Busquets left an immense void in the defensive midfield, a weakness that has been evident in recent Herons matches. Although the franchise signed David Ayala to fill that gap, the Argentine has yet to fully settle in or replicate the high level of play seen during his tenure with the Portland Timbers.
On several occasions, Mascherano has opted to use Yannick Bright or Rodrigo De Paul as the defensive midfielder. However, De Paul has shown his best form when playing further forward, where he can better link up with Messi in the attack.
Bringing in a veteran with vast experience and a championship DNA like Casemiro would be a major addition for Inter Miami, potentially solving the team’s ongoing midfield dilemma.
Inter Miami not alone in the hunt for Casemiro
Despite being the club that has already initiated conversations to sign Casemiro, Inter Miami are not the only team interested in the Brazilian midfielder, according to reports from Fabrizio Romano.
The Italian journalist also noted that several European clubs are keen on keeping Casemiro on the continent. Meanwhile, teams from the Saudi Pro League are also looking to tempt him with lucrative contracts, though specific clubs in the region have not yet been disclosed.
