Federer’s Shanghai Masters record
Federer has enjoyed great success at the Shanghai Masters, winning the title twice and compiling a 23-6 overall record at the tournament. He first appeared in Shanghai in 2010, reaching the final without dropping a set before falling 3-6, 2-6 to Andy Murray.
His first Shanghai Masters crown came in 2014, where he defeated Gilles Simon 7-6(6), 7-6(2) in a thrilling final. On the way, Federer beat Novak Djokovic 6-4, 6-4 in the semifinals to claim his 23rd ATP Masters 1000 title.
Federer’s second Shanghai title arrived in 2017 when he defeated longtime rival Rafael Nadal 6-4, 6-3 in the final. That victory marked Federer’s 27th ATP Masters 1000 title. Throughout the tournament, he dropped only one set, which came against Juan Martin del Potro in the semifinals.
