A little over a decade ago, John Wall was the hottest player in college basketball. He led a Kentucky Wildcats team that also featured future NBA stars DeMarcus Cousins and Eric Bledsoe to the final game of the season.

The Wildcats eventually lost to Baylor, but Wall had one of the best seasons by any freshman in recent history, averaging 16.6 points, 4.3 rebounds, 6.5 assists, and 1.8 steals per game on 46% shooting.

That’s why he was the consensus first-overall pick in the 2010 NBA Draft, and while, after all these years, he still cherishes his days at Lexington and continues to root heavily for the Wildcats.

John Wall will always be there for the Wildcats

“Kentucky’s always home for me. There’s always love. That’s the school I went to, the jersey I put on. They gave me the opportunity to reach one of my goals and dreams in life to play college basketball, and play on one of the biggest levels for one of the best schools in the country, and a good opportunity to go to the league. So yeah, I’m definitely coming back,” he told Matt Jones of KSR.

The Wildcats knocked on the door of a championship with Wall at the helm, but even though they couldn’t go all the way while he was there, he still went down as one of the greatest players in program history.

It’s a shame that injuries got the best of him while he was still in his prime, as there was a time when he was one of the prime playmakers and best point guards in the world.
