Stephen Curry entered the history books with his 62 points against the Portland Trail Blazers in the Golden State Warriors victory 137-122 on January 3rd. For Curry it was a career best and vindication of his talents after his recent bouts with injury that kept him sidelined for most of 2020.

Stephen Curry scored nearly 50 percent of his teams total against the Trail Blazers and broke his own personal record that he established in 2013. Curry scored 54 points against the Knicks, until his massive performance against Portland.

Curry’s 62 points put him at 34th in the all-time list of great NBA players who have scored the most points in a single game. The list is mostly dominated by Wilt Chamberlain, who broke every scoring record imaginable in NBA history.

Who has scored the most points in an NBA game?

That honor goes to Wilt Chamberlain, who scored 100 points in a single game against the New York Knicks in 1962. Chamberlain’s 100 points is seconded by the late great Kobe Bryant who scored an amazing 81 points in 2006 against the Toronto Raptors. David Thompson scored 73 in 1978, although his record is tied with Chamberlain.

The admiral David Robinson scored 71 points in 1994 and Elgin Baylor did the same in 1960. Devin Booker hit for 70 in 2017, while the great Michael Jordan scored 69 points in 1990 against the Cleveland Cavaliers, but before that scored 63 points in 1986.

Rounding out the list is Pete Maravich with 68, Rick Barry with 64, George Gervin, Jerry West, Joe Fulks have scored 63, while Carmelo Anthony, Tracy McGrady have 62.
