The New York Giants are looking to bounce back from a disappointing season, where the absence of an elite quarterback and the departure of former player Saquon Barkley, who won Super Bowl LIX with the Philadelphia Eagles, left a void. With a renewed focus on improving for the upcoming NFL season, the Giants are aiming to put together a more competitive roster, with Jameis Winston now at the helm as a key leader with a former teammate in the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

After announcing Winston as their new starting quarterback, the Giants have been active in bolstering the roster to help him secure a playoff spot in 2025. As part of this effort, the team brought back a familiar face: offensive lineman Aaron Stinnie, who was a former teammate of Winston’s and a Super Bowl champion with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

Stinnie, who spent one season with the Giants, was re-signed after showing strong performances. The 6-foot-3, 312-pound lineman previously played alongside Winston in Tampa Bay in 2019, but while Winston left the Buccaneers, Stinnie remained and won a Super Bowl title. Now, he will be tasked with helping protect Winston’s blindside in the Giants’ pursuit of a playoff berth.

“The New York Giants today re-signed veteran offensive lineman Aaron Stinnie. Stinnie played 16 games for the Giants last year, including three starts at left guard late in the season. Overall, the 6-foot-3, 312-pounder has played in 47 regular-season games in his career, with 15 starts, all at left guard,” the Giants stated on their official website.

Stinnie’s NFL career

Before joining the Tampa Bay, Aaron Stinnie started his NFL journey with the Tennessee Titans. Originally signed as an undrafted rookie by Tennessee, Stinnie played for the Titans from 2018 to 2019, then moved to the Buccaneers from 2019 to 2023. In 2024, he signed with the New York Giants as a free agent.

In 2020, Stinnie was part of the Buccaneers’ Super Bowl-winning team, marking his only individual title. During his time in Tampa Bay, he also made two additional playoff appearances in 2021 and 2023. Those three playoff berths are the extent of his postseason experience. With the Giants, however, Stinnie did not make it to the playoffs last season.

Now with a fresh opportunity in New York, Stinnie is confident he can make a significant impact on the Giants’ offensive line. The team will rely on him to provide stability and depth as they pursue their goals for the upcoming season.

Stinnie’s numbers with the Giants

Stinnie became the second offensive lineman to re-sign with the Giants this NFL offseason, joining Greg Van Roten, the only player to play every snap for New York last season. In 2023, Stinnie made 15 starts at right guard and finished the season with two starts at center, all after signing with the Giants one week into training camp.
