Patrick Mahomes was sacked six times by the Eagles in the last Super Bowl loss for the Chiefs. Now, a revamped offensive line could be the key to success in 2025, especially after what has been seen in the preseason, thanks to young players like Josh Simmons.
“I thought they did a great job. They’ve been working hard the entire camp. Obviously, the veteran guys also did a great job, but, it was good to see the young guys going up against some good rushers. When they give me time in the pocket like that, guys can get open downfield.”
The Kansas City Chiefs will face a tough challenge in the AFC against rivals like the Bills and the Ravens. However, if Mahomes gets enough protection, this version of Andy Reid’s team could surpass last year’s offense by a wide margin.
Chiefs’ Key Factor to Win Another Super Bowl
Undoubtedly, the offensive line will be the key factor for the Chiefs in the 2025 season. In fact, during the two recent Super Bowl losses (Buccaneers and Eagles), the lack of protection for Patrick Mahomes was the main reason that prevented victory.
“It’s kind of like cliche, but it all does start up front. When the offensive line is blocking like that, it kind of gets the offense going. I was super excited to get out there. Get real reps with these guys. To get the feel for the pocket, the trust with those guys, and give guys chances to make plays downfield. It shows all the hard work that we put in and training camp is paying off. This is a little step, but it’s a little step in the right direction. It was a good step today and we’ll continue to build as we get ready for the regular season.”
