The Detroit Red Wings have re-signed forward Elmer Soderblom to a two-year contract worth an average annual value of $1.125 million, continuing their effort to reinforce the roster around Patrick Kane. At 6-foot-8 and 246 pounds, Soderblom brings a rare combination of size and skill to Detroit’s developing forward group.

Soderblom, 23, played in 26 games with the Red Wings during the 2024–25 season, registering 11 points (4 goals, 7 assists) and 43 hits in just over 13 minutes of ice time per game. He also added 17 points in 38 games with the AHL’s Grand Rapids Griffins, helping them reach the Central Division Finals.

Selected in the sixth round of the 2019 NHL Draft, Soderblom has recorded 19 points in 47 NHL games. His continued development offers Detroit a low-cost, high-upside depth option with the potential to earn a full-time role alongside more experienced stars.

Before coming to North America, Soderblom played in Sweden’s top professional league and won gold with Team Sweden at the 2019 IIHF U18 World Championship. His strong international background and steady progress make him a valuable piece in Detroit’s long-term vision.
