We’re months into the MLB offseason and reigning AL Batting Champion DJ LeMahieu remains unsigned. And even though he’s still expected to come to an agreement with the New York Yankees, the fact that there hasn’t been any deal yet makes us think that other teams could still swoop in.

And, according to CBS Sports and MLB.com’s Jon Morosi, the Los Angeles Dodgers are still pretty interested in entering his sweepstakes and will meet with him pretty soon to start negotiations.

LeMahieu would be a massive upgrade for the reigning World Series winners’ infield, especially if Enrique Hernández ends up leaving as expected and/or they don’t retain free agent Justin Turner.

Dodgers Still Interested In DJ LeMahieu

“While there’s mutual interest in a return to the Bronx and the Yankees remain favored to re-up with LeMahieu, the days keep ticking by with no agreement. Of note is that the reigning champion Dodgers maintain interest in LeMahieu (…) LeMahieu would be an upgrade over (Chris) Taylor and more of a known quantity than (Gavin) Lux. LeMahieu’s ability to play those positions in addition to first base means he could be a fit even if there’s not a direct path to every-day duty at one position. More broadly, when you are presented with the possibility of signing a hitter like LeMahieu, you make it work. Needless to say, the Dodgers have the means to meet LeMahieu’s reported nine-figure asking price,” read the report.

The 32-year-old star is reportedly looking to sign a 5-year deal worth north of $100 million, while the New York Yankees are only willing to give up 4 years, reportedly due to concerns about his age.

But, should LeMahieu decide to move on from the Bronx Bombers and look at all his options, the Dodgers would definitely be an interesting choice, while the Toronto Blue Jays and New York Mets could also enter the race for his services.
