The New York Yankees are going through a very complicated stretch in the 2025 season. They’re struggling to stay in the playoff picture, and their poor results are drawing attention from people who know what it takes to win a World Series.
In this instance, the Yankees were the “recipients” of a message from Jorge Posada, a five-time World Series champion and five-time All-Star. He urged the Bombers to adopt a tougher attitude as a team.
“Just more about attitude,” Posada told SNY. “They gotta get a little angry,” he said, referring to the team’s approach to the game. “They need to have a chip on their shoulder. You can’t be friends with everybody.” The former catcher wants to see real changes in the team’s demeanor.
A Tough Situation for the Yankees
The Yankees are currently in a difficult spot, having won only two games in August. This puts them in the worst possible position heading into the playoffs. They haven’t been eliminated from the race yet, but if they don’t start winning more games, things could get seriously complicated.
Jorge Posada won all of his rings with the Yankees during seasons where the Bombers were highly dominant in the postseason. He played a total of 125 postseason games, winning three rings consecutively, and was on the team with Aaron Boone during the 2003 World Series loss to the Marlins.
When Was the Last Time the Yankees Missed the Postseason?
The last time the Yankees failed to reach the postseason was in 2023. Aaron Boone was the manager, and the team finished with a record of 82-80, 19 games back in the division. It was Boone’s first time as a manager not making it to October baseball.
