Christian Pulisic is the face of what many have dubbed the “Golden Generation” of USMNT players. Pulisic who began his career at Borussia Dortmund and later made a huge money move to Chelsea of the Premier League, has grown into his role as the best player on the national team.
Pulisic, at 23 years of age already has some interesting numbers with the USMNT, 16 goals in 40 caps, he is on route to becoming one of the top leading scorers in the country’s history. What is stopping that at least for this round of qualification is the injury bug.
Pulisic suffered an ankle injury in the last round of qualifying against Honduras, and since then he has not returned for club and will not suit up for country. Here is an update on Christian Pulisic’s ankle injury.
Christian Pulisic injury update
Chelsea coach Thomas Tuchel provided an update on October 2nd of Pulisic’s ankle and said things were “not good”.“There is still a lot of pain that he has to get used to and it’s too much to start training with us, so he’s still in individual rehabilitation” Tuchel elaborated.
For Pulisic it’s another injury in a long list of knocks that have hampered the early part of his career. Nonetheless the USMNT has a positive winning record without their star player, winning the recent Gold Cup, and being able to get a victory over Honduras in their last qualifying match when Pulisic had to leave injured. If Pulisic recovers in time, and the USMNT need points there is a slight possibility that Gregg Berhalter could call him in.
