Cameron Boozer has something Cooper Flagg didn’t, says Duke analyst

Cameron Boozer hasn't played a single minute of college basketball, but he will be asked to fill some big shoes at Duke.

Cameron Boozer joined the Duke Blue Devils after turning a lot of heads in high school. He is considered Cooper Flagg’s replacement in the program after the forward entered the 2025 NBA Draft and was selected by the Dallas Mavericks with the No. 1 overall pick.

Boozer’s has ties with the program, as his father, former NBA star Carlos Boozer, left a huge mark at the start of the new millennium. Cameron and his twin brother, Cayden, carry high expectations ahead of the 2025-26 season, and some think he is a better prospect than Flagg was coming out of high school.

Time will tell if Boozer can emulate or surpass what Flagg did in college basketball with Jon Scheyer’s team, but several people are fond of his talents.

Analyst details differences between Cameron Boozer, Cooper Flagg

Julian King of Duke Basketball Report writes that, while Cameron Boozer isn’t Cooper Flagg, he still possesses traits that make him a solid prospect, and may have an edge over him in a key aspect:

“Where Boozer may – may – have the edge over Flagg is in closing, which Flagg did not do very well. That’s not to knock him – keep in mind that he was a year ahead of schedule and, like almost all 17-year-olds, physically immature. He’s got work to do there,” he said.

Flagg couldn’t take Duke to the top of the division, but still left the bar really high for Boozer. Whether he’ll be able to live up to those expectations remains to be seen.
