<p>One of the best prospects in the recruiting class of 2026 is now off the board. <strong>Five-star guard Dylan Mingo</strong> is now committed to the <strong><a href="https://bolavip.com/en/topic/north-carolina">University of North Carolina</a></strong> ahead of the 2026-27 <strong>college basketball</strong> season. Following his decision, the 6’4” talent issued an honest message aimed at his school, as well as <strong><a href="https://bolavip.com/en/topic/duke">Duke</a> </strong>and <strong>Penn State</strong>.</p>



<p>As expected when it comes to making such a pivotal and career-altering decision, Mingo took his sweet time. Moreover, there was a plethora of reasons for him to choose the Tar Heels, which he went into in detail during his public announcement. Surprisingly, the Blue Devils had a say on the matter, as their recent loss in Chapel Hill <strong>may have been what tipped the scale</strong> for Mingo to join UNC.</p>



<p><em>“First of all, <strong>I chose North Carolina for North Carolina</strong> <strong>itself</strong>,” </em>Mingo admitted in dialogue with<em> ESPN’s </em>“First Take”.<em> “But definitely seeing everything after they won the game had a huge impact just on my decision. It’s so joyful. The players look so joyful.</em> <em>And you know the legacy of North Carolina; <strong>that was a dream of mine</strong> since I was a kid.”</em></p>



<h2>Close second for Mingo</h2>



<p>While North Carolina was always first on his mind, Mingo did contemplate other schools in the <strong>NCAA</strong>. He named his finalists as UNC, <a href="https://bolavip.com/en/topic/penn-state">Penn State</a>, Baylor, and Washington, but the former two were always the options generating the most buzz. </p>

<p>While UNC’s rich history in college basketball put it a peck above the rest, the <strong>prospect of joining his brother, Kayden, in State College</strong> was ever-present. As Mingo admitted, the Nittany Lions were in contention until the very end, but it was the Tar Heels who earned his commitment at the end of the day. </p>

<p>North Carolina has come away with one of the gems of the 2026 recruiting class, cementing its place as a school to watch in the 2026–27 <a href="https://bolavip.com/en/topic/ncaa">NCAA</a> season. Still, that is a long way off. </p>



<p>As it stands, the focus in Chapel Hill is on finishing the current campaign strong and making a <strong>deep run in the ACC and NCAA tournaments</strong>. <p>“<strong><em>He’s like Paolo from a body perspective,</em></strong>” Scheyer said. “<em>There’s differences in their game for sure, but Paolo, when he stepped on the floor, he always knocked people back with how big he was. I think Cam has the ability to do the same thing. He’s always been the biggest guy on the floor and now he gets a chance to play with Pat (Ngongba) and Maliq (Brown) where he’s not going to be the biggest guy. I think that’s a huge advantage for him, using his size and then having the ball skills of a guard.”</em></p>



<p>Their phenotype are very similar. Boozer is listed at 6-foot-9 and 250 pounds on Duke’s website, while Banchero, now with the <strong>Orlando Magic</strong>, was listed at 6-foot-10 and 250 pounds when he was with the Blue Devils.&nbsp; It remains to be seen how far he can go with the Blue Devils this season and if he can take them to the top of <a href="https://bolavip.com/en/college-basketball" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">college basketball</a>.&nbsp;</p>

<p><strong><em>“He’s had foot injuries in his high school career and we’re still getting him back to 100% health,</em></strong>” Scheyer said. <em>“It’s not about anything that he’s done. It’s just about getting him to his full 100% productivity on the court, where he can move completely pain-free, and also where he can get back to being the level of player he can be. He’s gonna be a terrific player for us.”&nbsp;</em></p>



<p>Ngongba averaged<strong> 3.9 points and 2.7 rebounds per game</strong> in his freshman season. If healthy, he should have more chances to showcase his talents and help the Blue Devils compete the same way they did last season.</p>

<p>Duke freshman <strong>Cameron Boozer</strong> is ready to start his college career with one of the most iconic programs in <a href="https://bolavip.com/en/college-basketball" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">college basketball</a> history. The talented forward comes from a family with a pedigree at Durham.</p>



<p>His father, Carlos Boozer, left a huge mark and set several records during his three-year tenure with the <strong>Blue Devils</strong>, which also included a national championship in 2001. Following Cooper Flagg’s departure to the NBA, Cameron Boozer and his twin brother Cayden are expected to take over the team and take it to compete for a second consecutive Final Four appearance.&nbsp;</p>



<p>He knows that the challenge will be hard, but Boozer isn’t running away from the grind. Fresh off winning the<strong> Gatorade National Player of the Year </strong>award, the freshman sent a strong message to Duke’s doubters.&nbsp;</p>

<p>As Jon Scheyer and Co. wrapped up their final summer practice, Cameron Boozer made sure to put on a show<strong> in front of the public</strong>. According to Kevin Connelly of Ball Durham, Boozer showcased all his abilities on the court.</p>

<p><em><strong>“There wasn’t much that Boozer left in his bag </strong>on Tuesday night in Durham, showcasing his ability to get to the rim, scoring in the midrange, and flash a surprisingly efficient 3-point shot,”</em> wrote Connelly.</p>



<p>Boozer believes his team is being overlooked, but he vowed to change people’s minds once they begin watching their games. There will be a lot of young prospects who will draw <strong>a lot of attention in the upcoming season</strong>, but Boozer is already making statements.&nbsp;</p>

<p>Dallas Mavericks fans and players welcomed<strong> Cooper Flagg</strong> with open arms as soon as the team drafted him with the No. 1 overall pick in June’s draft. Flagg entered the league after leading the Duke Blue Devils to a Final Four appearance in the 2025 NCAA tournament, although he couldn’t make it to the championship game.&nbsp;</p>



<p>In his first and only season at Durham, Flagg averaged 19.2 points, 7.5 rebounds and 4.2 assists. He took <strong>Jon Scheyer’s </strong>team to a No. 1 ranking (35-4 record) and the ACC championship.&nbsp;</p>



<p>Flagg joins a team with established veterans who can only help improve his game. The best part of it is that he’ll share touches with fellow Duke alumni Kyrie Irving and <strong>Dereck Lively II.&nbsp;</strong></p>

<p><strong><em>“I’m making sure that he’s feeling as comfortable as possible, giving him any little detail or any little thing to give him,” </em></strong>Lively II said. <em>“Because whenever I was in his position, I remember how frightened I was, and I was only 19 and he’s 18.</em> <em>He’s just been the same, just smiling, cracking joke kid as I’ve always known. I’m glad that he’s been able to still be a person and not having too much of the spotlight just rain on him.”</em></p>



<p>The Mavericks won’t have <strong>Kyrie Irving </strong>for a big chunk of the season due to an ACL injury, but Flagg surely can count on the 2016 NBA champion to mentor him, too.</p>

<p>The Duke Blue Devils come off a devastating loss in the 2025 NCAA tournament’s Final Four against the Houston Cougars. Despite all the losses they suffered in the offseason, the analyst is confident that Evans will have a solid campaign.</p>

<p>The video Cameron Boozer shared announced his partnership with Crocs, one of the <strong>most famous footwear brands in the world.</strong> The twins wear different pairs of Crocs during the video, which includes a message focused on the return to school.&nbsp;</p>



<p>Crocs became famous thanks to the classic rubber clogs, but they have expanded their models and styles over the years. They have dropped collaborations with multiple movies and TV shows, such as <strong>Cars and Naruto, but also artists such as Diplo and SZA.</strong></p>



<p>It remains unclear if the Boozer twins will get a special edition of the footwear, but this deal <strong>definitely puts them </strong>in a solid position to buy more than just a couple of pairs. </p>

<p>Everybody knew that<strong> Flagg was a great player,</strong> but those who know him can attest to his character and the fact that he was an even better person. That says a lot about someone used to the spotlight.</p>
