The UConn Huskies might not be done hurting Dawn Staley.

The UConn Huskies are walking on clouds right now. They’re fresh off winning the national championship after an almost-perfect season to finally put an end to their title drought.

However, there’s a downside to everything. They lost one of the best players in program history when Paige Bueckers became the first-overall pick of the 2025 WNBA Draft.

The Huskies have a long history of landing the best players in women’s college basketball. With that in mind, Sportskeeda believes they could be in play to go after MiLaysia Fulwiley.

UConn could target MiLaysia Fulwiley

“Although they signed up five-star point guard Kelis Fisher from the Class of 2025, UConn coach Geno Auriemma can still boost his backcourt via the transfer portal and Fulwiley could be a prime target,” read the report.

Fulwiley was a big spark off the bench for Dawn Staley and the Gamecocks last season. She played in all 77 games and averaged 11.7 points, 2.1 assists, 2.9 rebounds, and 1.6 steals per game.

Needless to say, making up for Bueckers’ efficient and explosive scoring and playmaking will be a lot to ask, but Fulwiley’s elite defensive skills and veteran leadership could certainly help this program.
