There’s no doubt that Detroit Tigers Miguel Cabrera is one of the greatest hitters of his generation. On Sunday, Cabrera proved it once again by reaching his 500th career home run in the MLB against the Blue Jays at the Rogers Centre.

‘Miggy’ is now a member of one of the most exclusive clubs in baseball, by becoming the 28th player who launched 500 home runs in their career. He is the first one to join it since David Ortiz in September 2015 and the first Venezuelan-born player doin so.

Cabrera is only the sixth member of the ‘500 home run club’ who was born outside the United States along with Ortiz, Palmeiro, Pujols, Manny Ramirez and Sammy Sosa. And he has another major milestone in sight, as he is 46 hits from the 3,000.

Cabrera joins the 500 home runs club: Memes and reactions

The historical moment has the baseball community praising Miguel Cabrera, who is also an 11-time All-Star, two-time American League MVP Award winner, four-time AL batting champ and AL Triple Crown winner.

Also, Cabrera is just the fifth player who hit 500 home runs and has a .310+ batting average alongside Jimmie Foxx, Ted Willams, Mickey Mantle and Frank Robinson. However you see it, Miggy's milestone is just impressive and people on the Internet didn’t waste time praising him, including his former teammate Justin Verlander, with a video that made fans crazy about a possible reunion.

With Cabrera being so close to the 3,000 hits, he could become the seventh player in al history of the MLB to have launched 500 home runs and the 3,000 hits. If he gets it done this year, he could be the first player ever that reach both feats in the same season.
