The Miami Dolphins are ready to shed their supporting-role label and step into the spotlight as true contenders heading into the upcoming NFL season. The good news for Tua Tagovailoa and company is that a key offensive player has expressed strong intentions to stay in South Florida for what’s ahead.

Much has been said in recent weeks about what’s next for Jonnu Smith going into the upcoming season. However, some reports indicate that the tight end himself has expressed a strong desire to remain with Mike McDaniel’s team.

In recent statements to the media, the agent of the former Titans and Patriots player said that Smith would love to remain alongside Tagovailoa starting Week 1 of the upcoming season.

“Here’s what I will say on behalf of my client: Jonnu would definitely like to stay in Miami,” Rosenhaus said, via the Miami Herald. “That’s his first choice. This is where he lives in the offseason. He had a record-breaking season last year. It was the best season ever for a Miami Dolphin tight end.

He broke the team record for receptions, receiving yards and touchdowns for a tight end and was the team’s single Pro Bowl player. He’s an incredibly valuable part of this team.
He went to college at FIU. His dream team is the Dolphins. Hopefully, everything works out where he can stay in Miami.“

What to expect from the Dolphins in the 2025 NFL Season?

The Miami Dolphins are entering the 2025 NFL season with one clear goal: to become true contenders in the AFC East. After years of flashes without consistency, the team is determined to shake off its reputation as a mid-tier presence in the division.

Quarterback Tua Tagovailoa is aiming to finally put together a complete, standout campaign. With talent around him and a system tailored to his strengths, the pressure is on to lead the offense with confidence and consistency from Week 1.

Head coach Mike McDaniel is betting on a well-balanced roster that blends veteran leadership with young, explosive playmakers. His strategy is built to challenge divisional rivals like the Bills and, at the very least, push Miami into the AFC Championship conversation.
