NFL News: Dolphins confirm the signing of a defender who will help protect the team led by Tua Tagovailoa

The Miami Dolphins completed the signing of an experienced defender who will help strengthen the unit that features quarterback Tua Tagovailoa as its star.

With Tua Tagovailoa fully healthy and entering the 2025 NFL season with renewed ambition, the Miami Dolphins have bolstered their defense by signing a cornerback who could directly impact the quarterback’s performance.

While the addition of a cornerback is typically viewed from a defensive standpoint, this move also carries implications for Tagovailoa’s passing game. A stronger defense allows him to play more freely and take calculated risks downfield.

After an unfortunate debut last season that included a concussion, Tagovailoa is determined to establish himself as a top-tier quarterback in the league. Despite his personal goals, the team’s secondary was one of the most injury-plagued units, making reinforcements a sensible move.

The Dolphins also added veteran Mike Hilton, a specialist in slot coverage. However, Jones is expected to bring something different—starting experience as an outside cornerback, making him a valuable asset against top-tier quarterbacks from contending teams.
